Chapter 468 The Next

Atticus stumbled back, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, but James was on him in a flash, closing the gap with lightning speed.

He charged like a drawn sword, sharp and deadly.

The crowd gasped in shock, and Elysia instinctively shouted, "Mr. Wheeler, look out!"

Atticus's eyes blazed as James came at him again. He took six quick steps back and reached behind him, pulling out a short gun.

Before he could fire, James grabbed his wrist and twisted it brutally.

A sharp crack echoed through the room as Atticus's left hand broke, and the gun clattered to the floor.

Atticus let out a pained grunt, his face twisted in agony, shaking his head like a madman. The pain of his broken hand was unbearable, both physically and mentally.

The chaotic scene made many step back in fear. Several women in the audience looked distressed, having expected to see James suffer, only to witness him severely injure Atticus instead. The shock was hard to accept, and their dislike for James grew even stronger.

"Take another punch," James said coldly, his eyes devoid of emotion as he swung his fist.

Atticus's face filled with despair. "No!"

"Stop!" shouted the hook-nosed elder and others, their faces pale with fear, but before they could intervene, James's punch landed on Atticus's chest.

Atticus managed to shift his body just enough to avoid a fatal blow to the heart, but his shoulder shattered.

He screamed in pain, crashing into a table, sending debris everywhere.

As Atticus spat out a mouthful of blood and struggled to get up, James was already standing over him, pressing a foot to his neck. "How about now? You wanted me to kill you, and here I am. Are you ready to die?"

James's gaze was cold as he looked down at the man beneath him.

"Stop! Stop!" Several remaining law enforcement members rushed forward with weapons, and the hook-nosed elder struggled to his feet.

Elysia glanced towards the door, only to see that all the law enforcement members outside had been killed by Francis. More men in white, armed with harpoons, had arrived—Clarence's men.

Seeing Atticus on the ground, sweat dripping from his forehead, many women in the audience looked conflicted and angry.

"You have no right to hurt Mr. Atticus Wheeler."

"How could you hurt Mr. Atticus Wheeler? He's Mr. Terrence Wheeler's nephew."

As several women who were close to Atticus voiced their outrage, the hook-nosed elder shouted, "James, do you know what you're doing? You're already a criminal, and now you've dared to harm Atticus. Your crimes will only worsen."

"Mr. Terrence Wheeler will never forgive you. He'll be back from Stardust City tomorrow. How will you explain this to him?"

Despite James's impressive skills, they believed that someone who had once lost to Dane could never be a match for Terrence.

Moreover, harming Atticus meant opposing the law enforcement, making James an enemy of the entire Mystic Alliance.

James smiled faintly. "As if Terrence would spare me if I didn't kill him."

He regretted that Terrence wasn't at Glowing Oasis, or he would have eliminated him too. James would never forgive anyone who threatened his loved ones.

Atticus, enduring the pain, managed a twisted smile. "James, you can act recklessly, but have you thought about your family, about Ruby?"

"You can avenge them now, but what about after you die in tomorrow's duel? Who will protect them then? The deeper you offend me, the more they'll suffer."

He delivered a warning, "Some consequences are beyond your control."

Elysia also shouted, "James, don't be stubborn, or you'll regret it."

The hook-nosed elder pulled out his phone, immediately projecting a video onto the hall's screen. Terrence's face appeared, looking furious.

"James, this is Terrence. You've already caused trouble for the Mystic Alliance, making us a laughingstock in the martial world. Now, you're targeting my nephew while I'm away."

"I order you to release Atticus immediately, or I'll make sure you die a horrible death. After that, I'll grind your bones to dust. Do you hear me? Release him now!"

James's smile was mocking. "Mr. Wheeler, releasing him is easy, but answer me this first— Mystic Alliance Rule 72: What is the punishment for a member who rapes an innocent woman?"

"I don't care," Terrence dismissed. "All I know is that you've murdered a fellow member and kidnapped Atticus. Your crimes are unforgivable."

"Mr. Wheeler, I accuse Atticus of threatening my father's life to force me into submission," Seraphina suddenly shouted from the sofa. "If I didn't comply, he would torture my father, cutting off his fingers one by one. I have recordings!"

She played two videos on her phone, showing Elysia and Atticus threatening her.

Atticus and his companions' faces changed.

"These videos are unclear, possibly edited, or you might have conspired with James to frame Atticus," Terrence ignored Seraphina's accusations. "James, stop wasting time and release him, or you'll face my wrath."

James repeated, "Mystic Alliance Rule 72: What is the punishment for a member who rapes an innocent woman?"

"Three stabs to death sentence!" A woman's voice suddenly rang out from the doorway.

Ruby, Mia, and Milo appeared in wheelchairs.

"I declare that Atticus has violated Mystic Alliance Rule 72, with severe consequences and a terrible impact. According to the law..." James's voice turned cold. "Death!"

Terrence was furious. "How dare you!"

As he spoke, James's foot pressed down, breaking Atticus's throat.

"You—" Atticus's body convulsed.

His eyes bulged, blood oozing from his mouth and nose, his face filled with unwillingness, anger, and shock. He never expected James to actually kill him.

In his final moments, as he felt life slipping away, a tear fell from his eye, a hint of regret in his heart. He should never have provoked James.

Seeing Atticus die, Elysia screamed hysterically, "No!"

Several women bit their lips to stifle their screams.

The room was no longer silent but filled with a chilling atmosphere. No one had expected Atticus to die, let alone that James would kill him in front of everyone.

Terrence collapsed in rage.

"Bastard." The hook-nosed elder, filled with grief and anger, instinctively moved to attack, but before he could act, a black sword pierced his heart.

Francis acted without hesitation, swiftly taking down the elder.

Ollie ordered his men to detain everyone present.

James kicked Atticus's body aside. "Next, Dane!"
