Chapter 384 No Longer an Accident
James didn't hesitate to accept Gerald's help.
He had spent the whole night thinking it over. Getting into the Lee family estate to treat Trevor was bound to be a challenge, especially with Isaac and his crew standing in the way.
James would either have to fight his way in or sneak in, both of which were risky.
Besides Isaac's strong opposition, there was also the hidden threat of Molly, who could strike at any moment.
With Gerald's assistance, things would be much easier.
After all, Isaac wouldn't dare to stop Gerald.
Gerald didn't waste any time. He instructed Kaida to take the pills to the hospital to treat the poisoned victims and then called a few doctors to head to the Lee Manor.
To avoid unnecessary conflict, he had Olivia stay behind temporarily, and James disguised himself as a doctor to blend in with the group.
At 10 AM, three Audis with Rivera Group plates drove towards the Lee Manor.
"I've known about the Lee family's troubles for a while," Gerald said to James with a smile as they drove.
"But I was on the brink of death myself, so I couldn't pay much attention to their situation."
His tone carried a hint of regret. If he hadn't met James on the high-speed train, he might already be buried.
"I heard Trevor's illness is mainly due to stress and pressure," Gerald continued. "Bad news kept coming, and with his age, he became depressed and collapsed."
"He's been sick for over a month and hasn't improved. Now he can barely get out of bed."
"Before today, I might have thought he was weak. It's just a tough enemy, right? Why get so worked up?"
"But after seeing those patients this morning, I understand his fear."
"Molly is an abomination that shouldn't exist in this world."
If it were a fair fight, no matter how strong the opponent, Gerald wouldn't be afraid. But this Sorcerous Poison was like a snake in the grass.
The enemy didn't need to confront you directly. They could kill you silently without even showing their face. How do you fight that?
And killing a hundred people was no different from killing one for them. The destructive power was akin to a biochemical weapon. Just thinking about it made Gerald's scalp tingle.
James thought of the Nine Netherworld Fire Lotus on Samantha. "Yeah, people like that are too insidious."
"James, can you create a specific antidote for the poison?" Gerald's eyes lit up as he looked at James. "That way, we could produce a large batch, and everyone could carry a few pills."
"If someone gets poisoned, they could take one immediately, and we wouldn't have to fear Molly anymore."
If sorcerous poison could be countered, Molly would be no different from an ordinary woman.
"It's not that simple," James said with a wry smile. "Sorcerous Poison is ever-changing. I need to see the poison on the spot to create a specific antidote."
"If you take the wrong medicine, it might not only fail to cure you but could also make the poison more potent, increasing the risk of sudden death."
"So, the Toxiclear Elixir I make now is the most useful. It can't cure the poison, but it can extend life by more than 24 hours."
"And that time is enough for me to save someone."
Gu masters instilled fear for a reason. Many fighters and big shots didn't want to mess with them.
Gerald chuckled, realizing he had been overthinking it.
James suddenly remembered something. "Mr. Rivera, what kind of person is Isaac?"
"He's got a good temper, keeps a low profile, but he's very cunning and deep," Gerald said, giving his assessment of Isaac. "Trevor's early days were extremely tough. He earned his first fortune through sheer hard work."
"Isaac, being older, witnessed the Lee family's rise from nothing and suffered a lot in the early years."
"His limbs were once broken by others. Luckily, he got cured."
"He's not even fifty, but his hair is white. If I didn't tell you his age, you'd think he was seventy."
"Compared to Trevor's other children, he's Trevor's right-hand man."
"But I don't like his ways."
"He's a grudge-holder, and he remembers every slight against him."
"Anyone who hurt him, even decades ago, he took revenge on once the Lee family became powerful, even wiping out several families."
James nodded at this. "Seems like a ruthless guy."
"Is he the one keeping you from entering?" Gerald, being sharp, asked. "Do you think Trevor's bedridden state is Isaac's doing?"
"Not sure," James replied with a faint smile. "But it's clear he doesn't want Trevor to recover or Olivia and her daughter to rise."
If not for the slander, Patricia could have played a significant role in the Lee family's crisis with the Toxiclear Elixir.
So, James harbored animosity towards Isaac.
"Understandable, the rich are heartless," Gerald said without much emotion. "The Lee family may lack status and power, but they have an obscene amount of money."
"Thanks to Trevor's generous donations, I've never worried about funds in all my years running Glowing Oasis."
"He's donated to many facilities and activities—schools, welfare homes, bridges, affordable housing, city walls, everywhere you look, there's Trevor's contribution. Even the public park restrooms were donated by him."
Gerald's words had a double meaning. "With such vast wealth and no martial artists or big shots to protect it, it's not just family members who are tempted, but outsiders too."
James squinted. "Outsiders?"
Gerald lowered his voice. "Haven't you heard? The Gonzalez Family's third heir, Micah, is willing to marry Olivia."
James chuckled. "The Gonzalez Family sure has a big mouth."
"They know the Lee family's troubles and have the means to deal with Molly, provided Olivia marries him."
Gerald, now more open with James, didn't hold back. "Their goal is clear: to use Olivia to take over the Lee family."
"More precisely, they want to use Olivia to take over the Lee family and then leverage the Lee family's influence in Glowing Oasis to take me down too."
"The Gonzalez Family has their eyes on my position as the head of Glowing Oasis for a long time."
"Especially after I fell ill, they've been frequent visitors to Glowing Oasis, and the second-in-command from the Gonzalez Family has been challenging me constantly."
"They're trying to drive me to an early grave."
"But fortunately, I met you, and their hopes are dashed."
Gerald couldn't hide his satisfaction. "So after I recovered, I made a point to visit Stardust City and annoy everyone who wanted me dead."
"In that case..." James looked at the approaching Lee Manor. "Mr. Rivera, your poisoning might not have been an accident."
Gerald froze for a moment, then his expression turned grim.
