Chapter 185 How Are You Going to Deal with Me?
"Man, this is just awesome."
On the way back to the clinic, Sebastian, dropping his usual goofiness, slapped James on the shoulder, grinning ear to ear.
"James, from now on, I'm all ears. Just say the word if you need anything.
"I'd go through hell and high water for you, no matter the cost."
Then, feeling a bit sheepish, he eased up and patted James on the shoulder with a smile.
"Seeing Ellie and Sophie like that, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
"They thought they were hot stuff with Keith Morris, but they ended up losing billions and trashing their reputation.
"The Morris Antiques is going down."
Sebastian basked in Ellie and Sophie's downfall, grateful for his smart move last night.
If he hadn't patched things up with James, he'd be the one in hot water, missing out on today's big win.
"No big deal," James said calmly, then shifted gears. "But you need to tell your dad something when you get back. The Lucky Cat is probably targeting him."
Ellie recommended the Lucky Cat to Sebastian, clearly trying to use Phillip Wilson's cursed item to mess with him and the Collins family.
She had no beef with Sebastian, so it had to be aimed at Aaron.
Even if it wasn't Bryan-related, Aaron should still be on guard.
"Don't worry, James, I got this," Sebastian laughed heartily. "I've already told my dad and got someone keeping an eye on Ellie to see who she's talking to."
James nodded slightly. "Good to be cautious."
"James, it's a rare happy day today. Let me treat you to a meal at Enchanted Vine Tavern."
Sebastian extended an invitation to James.
"First, to apologize to you, and second, to celebrate our big win. Please do me the honor."
He wanted to get closer to James, who was a whiz in medicine, martial arts, and appraisal. To Sebastian, James was practically a hero.
"Let's skip the meal for now. Our relationship doesn't need a meal to deepen," James said bluntly. "I have some stuff to handle this afternoon. Just get me back to the clinic with any car and don't hang around."
James nodded slightly toward the cars behind them, saying, "Deal with these jade stones quickly. Holding onto nearly ten billion worth of them isn't a good idea."
Sebastian wasn't an antique expert and didn't have many channels to move them, so James reminded him to sell them fast to avoid trouble.
"Alright, I'll listen to you, James."
Sebastian was smart enough to get the risk with these jade stones. If not handled right, Keith Morris might come after them, so he readily agreed, "I'll sell these jade stones first, then come find you for a drink."
James nodded lightly. "Okay."
At the next intersection, Sebastian arranged for a car to take James back to JZL Medical Clinic, while he headed to his dad's place with two cars full of jade stones.
Eight billion dollars, he wanted to show off in front of his dad.
James didn't know what Sebastian was thinking and didn't care much about the jade stones. Eight billion was a lot, but it didn't interest James much at this point.
His mind was more on his dad's recovery, the clinic's renovation, and the persistent Kaitlyn.
The car soon arrived at JZL Medical Clinic. James grabbed a sandwich and then took over treating patients from Randy, letting him take a break and have a meal.
He had just seen five or six patients when a convoy roared up.
Seven or eight business cars lined up in front of JZL Medical Clinic, their doors opening with a clatter, and dozens of men and women emerged.
The first dozen were dressed to the nines, strutting around Nathaniel like they owned the place.
The next dozen were built like tanks, with two of them looking like they could benchpress a car.
James looked up, frowning slightly as he recognized the young man leading them.
It was Nathaniel, the guy who had been in a car accident with Gabriella.
James wondered why Andrew hadn't dealt with him and why he was here now.
Stephen glanced at them and went to block their way.
"Sorry, we're out of numbers for today. Come early tomorrow if you need to see a doctor."
"See a doctor?" Nathaniel sneered. "You're the one who needs a doctor. Get out of my way."
Stephen's face tightened, but he kept his cool. "If you're not here to see a doctor, then what are you here for?"
"What are we here for?" Nathaniel sneered, flipping his hair dramatically.
"A few days ago at the intersection, your people moved my car without permission and punched me a few times. I'm here to ask if they know what it means to die."
'Move a car?'
Stephen, who had no idea what was going on, was baffled.
Taking advantage of the confusion, Nathaniel pushed Stephen aside and swaggered into the clinic with his entourage, ignoring everyone else, and locked his eyes on James.
He walked over, laughing wildly.
"Do you recognize me now? Do you think you're off the hook?"
Dozens of his companions followed, their eyes filled with a sense of superiority.
A few glamorous female companions glanced dismissively at James. They had expected to confront a big shot, only to find out it was just a small-time doctor.
In their eyes, Nathaniel didn't even need to lift a finger; they could handle James with a single high heel.
James smiled mockingly. He thought, 'This idiot really doesn't know his place, coming to JZL Medical Clinic?
'How arrogant.'
"Let's talk outside." James asked Daniel to take over treating the patients and said, "Don't disturb the patients here."
"What, trying to kick me out?" Nathaniel sneered, kicking over a few chairs, then stood in front of James and shouted, "Let me tell you, I'm here to smash your clinic today."
Dozens of his companions watched with interest, their expressions dripping with disdain. It was clear they thought James had brought this on himself by crossing Nathaniel.
"Do you two know where you are? Do you know who I am?"
Jared walked over, carrying a sledgehammer. Coming to JZL Medical Clinic to act tough was practically a death wish.
"You're Jared, chairman of Bella Baker Group. He's Stephen, young master of the Greens Pharmaceutical. He's Troy, a big-time thug."
Nathaniel sneered as he looked around, then fixed his gaze on James again. "And I know who you are too. The person in charge of the clinic, also the son-in-law living with his wife's family after marrying into the Smith Family—James."
He rattled off everyone's identities in one breath.
Jared and the others exchanged surprised glances, feeling somewhat slighted. They also sensed that James wasn't taking them seriously.
Only James remained unfazed, calmly washing his hands.
Jared, recovering from his surprise, smirked. Having seen his fair share of high-profile events and with James in the mix, he sneered. "Give me one good reason not to take you apart right now."
As he spoke, dozens of workers surrounded them, their shovels radiating heat.
"Take me apart?" Nathaniel sneered arrogantly. "I'm Nathaniel, the third son of Richard. How are you going to deal with me?"
