Chapter 371 Going to Work at Wish Group

After dealing with Milo's faction, James handed the matter over to Ruby.

With Mia and Ollie helping out, Ruby was more than capable of managing Milo's group.

Leaving the fight club, James drove back to Leo Villa. While waiting at a red light, he checked his phone for any messages from Olivia.

In less than a week since arriving at Glowing Oasis, James had first resolved the Rivera Manor issue and then consolidated the Glowing Oasis Mystic Alliance, giving him enough leverage.

With the "deadline" for Olivia's appearance approaching, James decided to shift his focus to the Lee family.

If Olivia didn't show up by tomorrow, James planned to storm The Lee Manor the day after.

Back at Leo Villa, James heard a faint rumbling sound before he even opened the door. Inside, he found Clifford training.

Having obtained the second half of the Suppressing Demons Technique, Clifford's strength had skyrocketed. Just a few days ago, he could only manually burn talismans; now he could cast a few magic spells.

Seeing the mess in the villa's hall, with several vases shattered, James angrily kicked Clifford, sending him flying.

James ordered him to clean up and then go to bed, or he'd ruin his cultivation.

One moment, Clifford looked like a dignified sage; the next, he was nodding and bowing, scrambling to clean up the place.

He hadn't meant to cause trouble; he was just like a new driver eager to take a spin after learning to drive after he had a breakthrough.

Seeing Clifford diligently cleaning, James shook his head and went to take a shower.

After his shower, James dried his hair while checking his messages. There were texts from Kaitlyn, Samantha, and others.

He replied to each of them before falling into a deep sleep.

The next morning, James woke up a bit late. After washing up, he was about to go for his morning exercise when his phone rang.

He put on his headset and answered, hearing Bruce's booming voice, "James, do you know what day it is today?"

James was slightly taken aback. "What day?"

"Are you kidding me?" Bruce's voice turned stern, tinged with disappointment. "James, you're over eighteen now. Can you be a bit more responsible?"

"Today is your first day reporting to Wish Group. Coralie will be waiting for you at the entrance at 8:30."

"I knew you weren't taking this seriously, so I called to remind you. I can't believe you actually forgot."

Bruce sounded exasperated. "You've become so lax compared to before. I'm very disappointed in you."

"Sorry, Uncle Bruce. Don't be mad." James quickly explained, "It's not that I don't want to go to Wish Group; it's just that it's not necessary anymore."

Having consolidated the Glowing Oasis Mystic Alliance, his initial plan to investigate Wish Group seemed less relevant.

He wanted to tell Bruce that he was a major shareholder of the Wish Group. "Uncle Bruce, I might as well tell you, I'm actually..."

Before James could finish, Bruce interrupted angrily, "Not necessary? What do you mean, not necessary?"

"Coralie has put many efforts into getting you this job. Just look at you, unemployed and wandering around."

"If you don't find a proper job and settle down, how do you expect to have a future?"

Thinking about James claiming Leo Villa was his, Bruce got even angrier.

"I know I'm being harsh, but I've watched you grow up. I don't want you to ruin your life."

"If it were anyone else, I wouldn't bother offending them like this."

"James, you need to go to work. If you stay at Wish Group for three months, I'll buy you a $100,000 car."

"If you stay for a year, I'll give you $1,000,000 for a down payment on a house. And for three years, I'll pay off the entire mortgage."

"In short, you need to go to work."

Bruce was determined to set James on the right path, offering both a car and a house as incentives.

Though Bruce was being somewhat forceful, James felt touched.

Knowing that skipping work today would lead to a fallout with Bruce, James smiled and said, "Don't worry, Uncle Bruce. I'm heading to work right now."

James took a deep breath. "I won't let you down."

"That's my boy," Bruce's tone softened with a hint of joy. "Remember, be as grounded as your parents."

Yesterday, Bruce had dismissed the engagement as a joke, but now he felt that if James straightened out, there might still be a future with Coralie.

After all, compared to someone like Vance, Bruce still preferred the familiar James, ensuring Coralie wouldn't suffer in the future.

Hanging up, James abandoned his plan to exercise in the park. He did some light stretching in the backyard before calling a car to head to Wish Group.

At 8:15, James arrived at the Wish Group building in the bustling New Street area. Stepping out of the cab, he immediately spotted Coralie waiting.

Today, Coralie was as stylish as ever, wearing a chiffon top and a short skirt, showing off her long neck and legs. She also wore a pair of non-prescription glasses, looking very sexy.

James ran over to greet her. "Good morning, Coralie."

Coralie adjusted her glasses and coldly replied, "You've wasted ten minutes of my time. If this happens again, don't bother coming to work."

With that, she turned and walked into the building, keeping a deliberate distance from James to avoid any association. James followed her with a calm expression.

Ten minutes later, Coralie led James to the eighth floor, to a small team under the Wish Group's PR department responsible for renewing contracts with old clients. Coralie was the supervisor, and the team consisted of ten people, mostly women.

With Coralie's help, James quickly completed the paperwork, becoming a salesperson with a base salary of $3,000 and a 5% commission.

Not long after, Vance, dressed in a suit, arrived with a few people, warmly welcoming Coralie and announcing that he would treat everyone to lunch.

Finally, he turned to James with a fake smile. "James, although I let you join the team for Coralie's sake, it doesn't mean I'll tolerate a slacker."

At a previous dinner, Vance had attended with the intention of meeting Coralie's parents, only to have James ruin it.

Despite his efforts to make amends, including spending over $2,000,000 during Coralie's live stream, she had become less enthusiastic about him.

Vance knew he couldn't compete with that mysterious "Doctor from Rosewood City", so he took out his frustration on James.

Vance threw two contracts in front of James. "These two clients, you have one week to secure their renewals. If you succeed, I'll make you a permanent employee. If not, you'll be out in a week."

The female employees stifled their gasps, looking at James with schadenfreude. These were notoriously difficult clients. Even Vance had failed to secure their renewals, so giving James a week was essentially setting him up to fail.

Coralie instinctively spoke up, "Mr. Murphy, James is new and still learning."

"Everyone starts as a newbie," Vance sneered at James. "Work is work! If you want favors and leniency, go home! The company's money doesn't grow on trees."

Vance stepped closer and asked, "James, any problems? Is a week enough?"

James glanced at the contracts, and saw the names—Calista, Anneliese, weren't they Olivia's close friends?

"I just need an hour," James replied and then took out his phone and made a call, "Ms. Day, it's James. Could you and Anneliese come to Wish Group to renew a contract?"
