Chapter 151 The Porcelain is Real
Because of an unpleasant argument with Mary, James got up early.
He didn't even make breakfast and went straight to JZL Medical Clinic to avoid any awkward encounters.
After having breakfast at the clinic, James started busying himself with treating patients. With Bright Heart Hall Clinic closed, more patients were coming to JZL Medical Clinic.
James and Daniel were so busy they didn't even have time to use the restroom.
Out of helplessness, James had Randy, who came to visit him, help out. He agreed to take Randy as an apprentice and let him help for a month.
With Randy around, James felt less pressured, but he was still busy until the afternoon before he could catch a breath.
He suddenly remembered he had to go to the antique market with Taylor at three o'clock, so he hurriedly drove his Audi over. But just as he parked the car, Taylor said she had to reschedule.
Her period had started.
"Always something," James muttered with a laugh, but he didn't say much else. Since he was already out, he decided to stroll around the antique market.
Rosewood City's antique market was very famous and had a long history, rumored to have existed for hundreds of years.
The entire street was over 500 feet long. The first 100 feet were mostly fixed stalls selling new or high-quality replica crafts.
The middle 200 feet were filled with hard-to-identify antiques, with vendors coming from all over the country.
Since the stalls were not fixed and were first-come, first-served, many stalls had different faces every day.
This area gathered old and ancient items from various places.
The 200 stalls were always packed, making it a must-visit place for both new and seasoned collectors.
The last 200 feet belonged to antique shops with clearly marked prices.
James wandered around twice but didn't find any treasures, so he thought of casually buying a few jade stones to make some items for Bright Heart Hall Clinic for his close ones.
James walked into the largest antique shop, the Morris Antique Shop.
This shop was quite large, covering about 3,000 square feet, with a wide entrance and ancient beams, exuding a sense of history and age.
When James walked in, the hall was crowded with nearly a hundred people.
Hundreds of antiques were displayed on shelves on both sides, with many people examining them closely with magnifying glasses.
On the spacious floor, thousands of raw stones were neatly arranged.
Many people were excitedly gambling on stones.
The entire antique shop was bustling like a big market, clearly a place that made a lot of money daily.
"You guys are cheating, this is illegal."
As James was halfway through his stroll, he suddenly heard a heated argument coming from the southeast corner.
The voice sounded familiar.
As the shouting grew louder, it attracted many people's attention, and James curiously walked over.
"Charles?"
At the center of the commotion, James immediately saw Charles with Abigail by his side.
Charles and Abigail were surrounded by several staff members, and both sides were arguing fiercely.
Many onlookers were watching the drama unfold.
Then, a woman in a suit walked over, looking like the manager of the antique shop.
The woman appeared to be in her thirties, with delicate features and a tall figure.
Her elegant and sophisticated attire highlighted her mature and graceful curves, and her fair cheeks were adorned with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, exuding an intellectual and elegant aura.
However, the disdain in her brows revealed her arrogance.
James could tell that Charles was in quite a bit of trouble; otherwise, he wouldn't be arguing so fiercely.
He hesitated for a moment. Since he had seen it, it wouldn't be appropriate to turn away, so he ran over and asked, "Dad, what's going on?"
Charles didn't respond, just angrily stared at the staff, his face flushed with anger.
Abigail habitually showed disdain but held back, considering his relationship with Aaron.
If James got upset, she might get into trouble with Aaron.
Before Charles could speak, the cold woman sneered, "I'm Ellie Hall, the duty manager of the Morris Antique Shop. You're just in time; persuade your dad."
"He broke our porcelain. We're being lenient by only asking for five million in compensation. But he just won't admit it. If this continues, we'll have to call the police."
She stared sharply at James, saying, "And I can guarantee that your dad won't be able to stay in the antique market anymore; all the vendors will blacklist him."
Her tone was calm yet assertive, and she was clearly experienced in handling such situations.
"I'll say it again, I didn't even touch that porcelain; it fell on its own."
Charles shouted angrily at Ellie and the others. "It broke into pieces, and it has nothing to do with me. You can't frame me."
His face turned red with anger, and he looked like he wanted to punch someone.
"My dad wouldn't lie." Abigail also believed in Charles. "Isn't there some misunderstanding?"
She had been shopping at a nearby mall when she got Charles' call and rushed over.
James didn't say anything but just squatted down to examine the broken porcelain on the ground.
The porcelain was at least half a foot tall and intricately crafted. Now, except for the intact base, the body was shattered into dozens of pieces.
James touched the fragments, feeling a bit pricked, but when he touched the solid base, he inexplicably felt a sense of attachment.
Life Gem didn't provide any information in his mind, but James felt an attraction.
"Misunderstanding? What misunderstanding?"
At this moment, Ellie clicked her high heels on the ground, exuding a cold and indifferent aura.
"This corner only had your dad walking by. As soon as he walked away, the item fell. If it wasn't him, who was it?"
Several staff members chimed in, "Exactly, if it wasn't him, how did it fall?"
James glanced at Ellie and saw the mockery in her eyes, realizing it was a setup.
This Ellie was using an old trick.
"You're slandering me." Charles remained defiant. "Check the surveillance. I want to see the surveillance. If I touched it, I'll take full responsibility. If I didn't, you can't frame me."
Abigail nodded. "Yes, check the surveillance."
"This corner happens to have no cameras." Ellie sneered, "But we have witnesses. Our staff and several customers saw you knock it over."
Several staff members and onlookers nodded, all saying that Charles had knocked over the porcelain.
Charles was furious.
"Enough talking; do you admit it or not?" Ellie coldly said. "Admit it, pay up. Don't admit it, we'll call the police."
Charles roared in anger, "I didn't break it, why should I pay?"
"Right, without a proper investigation, you can't blame my dad." Abigail echoed, "Besides, asking for five million for this porcelain is too much. How do we know it's real?"
At this point, James stood up with the porcelain base, saying, "The porcelain is real!"
