Chapter 156 Am I More Important, or Is the Jade?
Besides Charles, Addison, and Mary, there were also Christopher and his wife, as well as Joseph and his siblings.
"You still have the nerve to come back?"
Before James could even take a good look at Joseph, Christopher slammed the table and cursed, "Look at what you've done to Dad! He almost had a heart attack. If it weren't for Abigail's timely treatment, you'd be a murderer by now."
Although Christopher relied on SH Corporation for his livelihood and was wary of Aaron's relationship with James, he resented James deeply for the continuous disrespect he felt.
"I could die of anger, and he wouldn't care." Charles sneered. "Am I worth thirty million? That's thirty million; money he hasn't seen in his entire life."
Charles continued, "I don't even want the jade; I just wanted to borrow it for a couple of days, and he wouldn't even agree to that."
He was very angry.
In Charles' view, James lived off the Smith Family, took their pocket money, and anything good James had should be used to please him.
Who knew James wouldn't budge, not only refusing to give him the General Jade but not even letting him see it, which made him very annoyed.
Subconsciously, he felt the General Jade was his.
"James, it's not that I'm criticizing you, but how can you be so greedy?" Christopher righteously said. "Dad found the blood jade by chance, and you just swiped your card to pay for it. How can you claim it as your own?"
"And that five million, wasn't it given to you by Mary? Where else would you get that much money? Do you really think we believe Olivia lent it to you? Is she out of her mind to lend you that much money? Can a gigolo make five million?"
Mary opened her mouth to explain but fell silent when she heard Olivia's name.
"Mary gave ten thousand for your mom's medical expenses, bought you a thirty-thousand-dollar Rolex, and gave you five million as backup." Addison also said coldly. "She treats you so well, and how do you treat her and her father? James, do you have any conscience?"
"And that thirty million completely belongs to the Smith Family's assets. You have no right to take it for yourself. You must hand over the jade." Addison added.
Mary still didn't speak, her face cold and troubled by the whole situation.
Joseph and Emily leisurely sipped their tea, their faces showing schadenfreude.
The humiliation they had suffered from James in the past was now being fully vented.
"Dad, Christopher, sister, Mary, you've all misunderstood." Seeing everyone accusing him, James took a deep breath, trying to remain calm.
"There were two reasons for my argument with you at the antique market."
"First, the General Jade is indeed very useful to me. Its value, I will explain to you in a few days."
"Second, I wanted to protect you. I had already noticed someone was watching us. If I handed over the General Jade to you, you might have been in danger."
James explained, "So I deliberately argued with you to draw the attention of those robbers to myself."

"James, save your lies for the kids." Addison crossed his legs and mocked. "In broad daylight, where are these robbers? Even if there were robbers, the antique market has items worth tens of millions or even billions. Why would they waste their efforts on a thirty-million-dollar jade?"
Christopher chimed in, "Exactly, if there were robbers, would you still be alive?"
"The fact is, they did corner me, with knives and guns. They were the Midnight Killers, the ones on the news." James said seriously. "But I defeated them and called the police. If you don't believe me..."
"Enough!"
At this point, Mary couldn't hold back and stood up. "James, if you don't want to give it, just say so. There's no need to make up lies. Everyone knows your background. Exaggerating only makes you look ridiculous."
She found it laughable to be targeted by robbers, fight for treasure, face armed Midnight Killers, and then defeat them.
In her view, no matter how strong James was, he couldn't possibly fight the Midnight Killers barehanded.
James sighed as he looked at Mary. "Mary, don't you believe me at all?"
"One moment you're saving Mrs. Collins, the next you're fighting Midnight Killers." Mary said angrily, "with such wild stories, how do you expect me to believe you?"
Emily chimed in, "Exactly, bringing up the Midnight Killers. They're murderers; even ten of you couldn't beat them."
Addison and the others all looked at James as if he were a liar. The Midnight Killers were notorious. Even the police found them difficult to handle. How could James fight them?
"I won't even mention your lies anymore." Mary stopped James from speaking. "I just want you to hand over the General Jade to Dad."
"Don't worry, I'll give you the thirty million. I don't have that much money right now, but I'll pay you in installments over three years."
She knew her father was being unreasonable. The General Jade was entirely James', but she couldn't stand seeing her father so depressed.
So she hoped James would hand over the General Jade.
"Mary, I don't want the thirty million, and I can't give Dad the General Jade." James shook his head. "Because I have a big use for it."
The General Jade could be made into a talisman to eliminate enemies and defeat evil forces, worth a hundred times its current value.
"A big use? What use could it have besides being sold for money?" Addison slammed the table. "Are you going to use it to drive away evil forces?"

James glanced at Addison and then spoke to Charles, "Dad, I can't give you the General Jade, but I can give you something else."
"Something even more valuable than the General Jade."
With that, James took out a small pendant he had taken from the Midnight Killers' car and gently placed it in front of Charles.

Addison and Christopher were also very angry.

"Is the General Jade more important than Dad? More important than me?"
