Chapter 82 The Failed Deal

After leaving the entrance of TG Company, James immediately got into Samuel's car and drove away.

After leaving the entrance of TG Company, James went straight into Samuel's car and left.

Samuel asked, "James, where are we going?"

Samuel wanted to say something but ultimately decided not to meddle in the couple's affairs in order to avoid deepening the conflict.

"Find Jacob." James looked ahead and said indifferently, "Delegate the debt to him."

He knew that Joseph would definitely not pay up willingly the next day, so it was better to hand it over to a professional like Jacob.

Then, James picked up his cell phone and called Jacob, but no one answered.

"This Jacob, making love this early?" James smiled helplessly and then signaled Samuel to go directly, suggesting they had dinner on the way.

Samuel stepped on the gas and headed towards SH Corporation.

Samuel glanced at the route given by the navigation system and finally chose to go past the foot of Cloud Top Mountain, avoiding the rush hour and saving half an hour.

In the past, he would never have dared to take this route, but after following James a few times, Samuel's apprehension had dissipated.

As they approached Cloud Top Mountain, James slightly raised his head, looking at the gloomy mountain with a hint of instinctive wariness in his eyes.

He couldn't quite explain it, but every time he passed by Cloud Top Mountain, his nerves would inexplicably tighten, as if the mountain was a monstrous beast ready to devour anyone in its path.

When the car drove past an unfinished villa area, Samuel suddenly hit the brakes.

James looked up and saw that the road ahead was blocked by several cars.

One of the Cadillacs not only had its front end smashed in but also bore numerous bullet and knife marks. The car window was shattered as well.

"Jacob's car." James recognized it at a glance; it was Jacob's dedicated vehicle.

James thought, 'Why is Jacob's car here? And in such a wrecked state?'

A look of doubt flashed in his eyes, and then he caught the sound of screams coming from the villa area.

"Samuel, stay in the car and lock the doors." After thinking for a moment, James opened the car door, grabbed a few pieces of broken stone, and walked toward the source of the sound.

Jacob had some connections with him, and James wanted to find out what was going on.

The villa area was large but also very worn, with overgrown weeds and many abandoned cement bricks. It wasn't easy to navigate without clear traces to follow.

After about ten minutes, James appeared at the entrance of a rundown Villa No. 7.

James saw Jacob, a burly man, lying in the villa's yard. His clothing was in shreds, his ear nicked, a bullet had grazed his shoulder, and he was smeared with blood all over.

There was also a bloody gash on his head.

At this moment, he looked like a dying beast, lying on the ground with a desperate look in his eyes, his mouth full of dirt and grass, occasionally letting out gasps.

Standing around him were three men and one woman, all dressed in slacks, shirts, and black leather shoes.

The leader, Barbie White, had some charm, but her eyes were cold, and the curve of her lips showed her disdain for life.

Barbie said, "Jacob, you sure can run. Chasing you for miles has worn us out. But you know, until you agree to kill Aaron, we're not going to let you off the hook."

At this moment, Barbie was pulling on a pair of white gloves, her eyes cold as she looked at Jacob on the ground.

One of her companions pulled out a clear bottle.

Inside it was a red insect with two heads, long and grotesque, a sight to behold.

Jacob laughed coldly. "To the victor go the spoils. I accept my fate in your hands. But what kind of honorable people use tactics like these?"

He let out a heated breath. "I'm telling you, I will never betray Aaron. If you've got the guts, kill me now."

"I admire your loyalty and strength, but it's useless." Barbie sneered. "As long as I feed you this red worm, you'll be begging for mercy in less than three minutes."

Jacob's face changed dramatically, his eyes fixed on the red worm, clearly knowing what it was.

He roared, "You are shameless."

Barbie said indifferently, "If it's what it takes to kill Aaron, a little despicable means nothing."

Jacob's voice was sharp. "It was Olivia and her people who drove you away. If you have a problem, take it up with Olivia."

"I'm not stupid, you're not stupid, and Aaron is certainly not stupid." Barbie laughed sarcastically. "If it weren't for Aaron's support back then, Olivia and her people wouldn't have been able to drive us away."

"SH Corporation wouldn't have been able to take over our gray businesses completely. So now that Bryan is back, we have to settle the score with Aaron." Barbie sighed softly. "Six years, six years, how many six years does one have in a lifetime? If it weren't for your exclusion, Bryan would already be the king of Rosewood City."

"Bryan Bennett, that contemptible man, even given sixty years, he wouldn't become the king of Rosewood City." Jacob's voice was full of anger. "My only regret is that Aaron didn't wipe you all out when he had the chance."

"Your folly lies in the fact that you weren't ruthless enough in your actions. You can't blame others." Barbie smiled." Just accept your fate, but don't worry, Olivia and her people will soon kneel, too."

"Get lost." Jacob seized the broken dagger and, without a moment's hesitation, thrust it towards his own throat. He was ready to escape the agony through death rather than be manipulated by them.

With a swift movement, Barbie sprung forward, kicking Jacob's dagger out of his grasp. She then picked up the bottle containing the red insect and, with a chilling laugh, tipped it towards Jacob's open mouth.

"Stop!" James stepped out.

He didn't like getting involved in these matters, but Jacob's plight and Olivia's involvement forced James to intervene.

Seeing James appear, Barbie and her three companions were shocked. They clearly did not expect anyone to come by. They all drew daggers simultaneously.

Barbie shouted, "Who are you?"

As she spoke, her three companions spread out, blocking James's path, ready to kill him to silence him.

Jacob, seeing James, was first stunned, then shouted, "James, run!"

Although James was skilled, Barbie's group was too strange, and he feared for James's life.

"Do you two know each other?" Barbie placed her hand on James's shoulder. "Perfect, kill one to warn the others."

James looked at Barbie and said, "You have a Dark magic creature inside you."

Barbie's face changed dramatically. "How do you know?"

"It's hovering near your heart, ready to invade and kill you at any moment." James remained calm as always. "I can help you remove this Dark magic creature."

Barbie's eyes narrowed, scrutinizing James before she laughed. "You want to help me remove the Dark magic creature and then have me release Jacob and you, right?"

James was reluctant to take a life unless absolutely necessary.

"Sorry, I can't agree to that." Barbie smiled. "I don't need you to remove the Dark magic creature from my body."

James squinted his eyes, initially thinking Barbie would be happy to agree. Even if someone wanted her to kill Jacob, it was nothing compared to her own life.

Thus, there was only one reason.

Barbie couldn't remove the Dark magic creature because someone had deliberately left it in her.

That person was powerful enough to make Barbie submit.

Keeping it might lead to death, but removing it would certainly lead to death.

James spoke coldly, "It seems the deal is off."

Barbie looked at James and asked, "Do you have any last words?"

Her three companions stepped forward menacingly.

James suddenly flicked a stone towards Barbie.

A piece of broken stone flashed by as fast as a fleeting horse.

Barbie's expression changed drastically in an instant. She lifted her dagger, ready to strike, but at that moment, a shard of stone pierced her brow!

The scene fell into silence.
