Chapter 124 Arrogant Dean
Harmony fell to the ground and slid a few feet, her clothes disheveled and her cheeks swollen.
She was stunned at first, unable to believe that James dared to hit her.
Then she screamed, "He hit me! A patient's family member hit me! Call security!"
A few young nurses helped Harmony up while glaring at James with raised eyebrows. "You're done for. You've caused big trouble."
Since they started at Harmony Care Hospital, they had never seen anyone dare to cause a scene there. Any family member who dared to make trouble ended up being sent to a mental hospital.
James shouted, "Bastard, with staff like you, Harmony Care Hospital is bound to go bankrupt."
James glanced at them, then turned and kicked open the emergency room door, striding inside.
Mary was slightly stunned, then hurried to catch up. "James, James."
Soon, James saw Virgil lying on the hospital bed.
It was still the same face, the same kindness, the same simplicity.
Tears welled up in James' eyes, almost spilling over. Virgil was still the same, unchanged, not at all different.
It seemed that nothing in the world could change him.
He lay in the hospital bed, his body covered in wounds, motionless, yet he still lay straight like a lance.
James suddenly realized that Virgil's face was not just kind, but within his wrinkles, there was hidden pain and a wealth of emotions.
Yet, compared to a year ago, Virgil had clearly lost weight. His face was pale, his body stained with blood, his eyes closed tightly, and he was in a deep coma.
Harmony and her team did not treat Virgil. They didn't even put an oxygen mask on him.
James felt as if he could lift Virgil with one hand. Remembering all the good Virgil had done for him in the past, he felt a deep pain in his heart.
James grasped Virgil's wrist, and the Life Gem turned.
The situation was serious.
Mary ran over and shouted, "James, don't be impulsive."
Without turning his head, James said, "Get me a wheelchair."
Then, he turned the Life Gem, and seven white lights entered his father's body.
Virgil's bruises gradually faded, the swelling slowly disappeared, and his wounds and bones began to heal. In no time, his face regained some color.
James could tell that Virgil had passed the critical stage. He hadn't woken up yet because he needed some time to recover.
Mary was initially worried that James would try to treat Virgil himself. Seeing that he didn't take out any needles, she felt relieved and quickly went to the corner to find a wheelchair.
When she turned back, she saw that James had already picked up a patient's gown, wrapped it around Virgil, and placed him in the wheelchair.
At this moment, a commotion of footsteps could be heard outside, along with Harmony's frantic screams.
James ignored it and slowly pushed the wheelchair towards the door.
Mary asked, "James, what are you doing?"
Mary grabbed James and anxiously shouted, "Moving your father like this could be very dangerous."
"It's okay. I've stabilized his condition." A glint flashed in James's eyes. "I won't let him stay in this hospital."
If he hadn't arrived in time today, Virgil would have ended up in a vegetative state, or even dead. It seemed that Harmony Care Hospital valued money more than human lives.
"Stabilized his condition?" Mary was bewildered. "When did you stabilize his condition?"
James didn't respond. Instead, he kicked the door open.
With a loud bang, the door flew open, and the dozen or so people outside who were about to rush in all fell to the ground in disarray.
Harmony, who was pinned down by seven or eight people, kept wailing.
Almost at the same time, another group of people appeared at the end of the corridor. A middle-aged woman in a white coat, accompanied by eight men and women, appeared aggressively.
The woman, around forty years old, wore gold-rimmed glasses. She was tall and elegant and looked very alluring in her uniform, but she was extremely arrogant.
The young nurses shivered instinctively when they saw her, clearly all afraid of this middle-aged woman.
The director of Harmony Care Hospital, Stacy Cox.
Stacy growled. "Who's causing trouble in my hospital?"
"Mrs. Cox, they said we have no medical ethics; they even hit me, kicked and damaged the emergency room, and even pulled the patient off the emergency table," Harmony quickly got up and complained to Stacy, pointing at James and Mary, who were slowly walking out.
Stacy said, "Call security and tell them there's a disturbance here."
Stacy led her group to James and Mary, issuing a command with a haughty expression, not taking the two of them seriously at all.
In her view, Virgil was just a poor and incapable man from the lower class, and a son born to such a man wouldn't be of much higher standing either.
She looked at James and Mary with disdain and sneered.
Stacy said, "If you say our skills are lacking, our efficiency is low, or our equipment is inadequate, I won't argue and will transfer you to another hospital."
"But saying we have no medical ethics is absolutely unacceptable."
"We all graduated from medical school and have taken oaths."
"Didn't you see we're called Harmony Care Hospital? Didn't you see we're this year's best doctors? Didn't you see we wholeheartedly care for our patients?"
Stacy pressed on aggressively. "Who gave you the courage to slander us? Who gave you the right?"
"What do you mean slander? It's the truth." Mary was furious. "When the patient arrived, instead of treating him, you all went to take photos. I asked five times, and no one showed up."
Mary added, "You left the patient suffering in the emergency room while you only cared about taking photos, where's your medical ethics?"
She took out her phone. "I will report you to the medical board."
James didn't say anything; he just looked around, thinking about how to protect his father if chaos broke out.
Perhaps because of Mary's sharpness, Stacy waved her left hand, and the eight security guards surrounded James and Mary.
Stacy looked at James with contempt and spat on the floor.
Stacy stated, "If you're in the wrong, you should own up to it. If you're punished, you should accepte it. You've slandered Harmony Care Hospital. Get on your knees, apologize, lick up this spit, and pay Harmony one handred thousand dollars in compensation, and then we can put this behind us. I don't wish to trouble people like you who live simple, humble lives. But if you don't comply with my demands, you won't be leaving here today."
Stacy looked at James and Mary arrogantly. "I will personally send you to a psychiatric hospital."
For those who disobeyed her, Stacy would always send them to a psychiatric hospital.
Harmony and the others also smirked, gloating, as if mocking James for hitting a wall.
Harmony Care Hospital was not a place for lower-class people to act recklessly.
Mary shouted angrily, "You are acting lawless. I'm calling the police."
Stacy suddenly slapped Mary in the face and shouted, "Even Jesus can't save you. You'd better do as I say."
Caught off guard, Mary stumbled and nearly fell. Her tied-up hair came loose, creating a rather messy appearance.
Without any hesitation, James kicked Stacy in the stomach.
Stacy let out a terrible scream, flailing her limbs as she tumbled away.
