Chapter 331 Chop off a Leg and Bring It to Me
Seeing James hang up the phone, Addison immediately jumped up. "What the hell are you doing? You just blew it! How dare you hang up on Amanda, you asshole! You've been screwing over us from the start! Amanda's offer was Mary's shot—she could've been back in the company, but you just trashed it! You're wrecking her career, her future! Who's gonna put food on the table if Mary can't work? And that villa? You snatched it from her and never planned to give it back. Thanks to you, the whole Smith Family's gonna starve!"
If it weren't for the fear that James might fight back, Addison would have rushed up to hit him.
"Shut the hell up!" James snapped, cutting Addison off. He turned to Mary, "Amanda called you, probably to drag you back and clean up the contract mess. Don't just roll over and do what she says. Dodge her for now. Trust me, in three days max, Amanda's gonna show up here, hat in hand. When she does, don't give in too easy. Make sure you've got the upper hand and get your stuff back before you even think about going back."
"Contract mess?" Mary frowned, "What's wrong with the contracts?"
Addison also chimed in, "Exactly, explain it clearly. Amanda is not someone to mess with, Mary can't just follow your lead."
"I already messed with those three contracts. Sarah and the others screwed up the terms—they only owe a hundred bucks in penalties," James smirked. "But TG Company? They're the ones who really blew it. They're on the hook for a billion in damages."
Mary's eyelid twitched as she stared at James. "No wonder you had me sign the contracts directly. You put unequal terms in them."
"As long as you're the president and I support you, the contracts won't need to be equal," James spoke frankly, "I set it up as a safety net to stop others from cashing in. Over the past couple of days, Jane sent her lackeys to hijack the contracts. I tipped off Sarah and the others to prepare for the breach. A hundred-billion-dollar order, a fifty-billion-dollar low-interest loan, and the production rights to Bashful Flower—they can all be cut loose from TG Company anytime. Losing these contracts won't just tank employee morale, it'll throw TG into the spotlight."
He added, "If The Howard and Hundred Flowers Bank are willing to bail, who's gonna want to work with TG?"
Christopher and Abigail exchanged glances, silently admiring James' wisdom.
"Solid plan, but don't forget—Amanda's got deep pockets and the Smith Clan behind her," Addison said, her tone sharp. "Without these deals, TG Company won't starve. And all the crap Mary's been through? Amanda could fix it with a snap of her finger."
She criticized James, "You think you can blackmail Amanda? Dream on!"
"Of course, I know that with Amanda's capabilities and connections, TG Company won't collapse without these contracts," James was confident. "But I also believe that no matter how many resources Amanda has, she can't just pull out a hundred billion dollar order or a fifty billion dollar low-interest loan."
Mary and the others nodded lightly. A hundred billion dollar order was no small amount; it could be listed as a second-tier cooperation project for the Smith Clan, making it difficult for Amanda to secure.
"The most important thing is benefit," James's eyes gleamed, "Such a large profit, snatched right from under their noses—who's gonna roll over for that? Sure, Amanda runs TG Company, but it's tied to the interests of dozens of Smith Family members. With the cash flow gone, you think they'll just sit back? Even if they don't tear into her, they'll hound her nonstop."
He added, "And Amanda's call just now also shows that these three contracts are enough to blackmail her."
Addison paused, then nodded, seeing the point. It was one thing to never have the perks, but to have them and then lose them? That'd drive anyone nuts.
Take Peach Blossom No.1, for instance. Addison had already moved in, practically claiming it as theirs. If someone tried to kick them out, Addison would probably come at them with a damn kitchen knife.
"You're right. I'll follow your plan and avoid Amanda for now," Mary smiled slightly. "When Amanda and Jane can't hold on anymore, I'll come out to negotiate."
Addison's eyes lit up. "Then Mary can become the company president again?"
Christopher laughed, "If Jane can't handle it and only Mary can, how can she not be the president?"
"Shut up, you useless fool!" Addison pushed Christopher aside and scolded, "Did you finish the work I asked you to do this morning? If you're done, go help Melissa in the kitchen! All you do is eat and slack off! You think you can handle big company stuff? Make sure you whip up some decent dishes! I'm gonna treat my son-in-law right!"
Addison scolded Christopher, making his cheeks flush as he quickly turned and ran away.
Abigail wanted to speak but was silenced by a glare from Addison.
Then, Addison pulled James aside and flashed a smile. "James, I'm not feeling great today, so I'm a little on edge. Cut me some slack, okay?" She was smooth as ever. "I'll crack open that Bamboo Leaf Green your dad's been hoarding for years. You and Mary can enjoy it."
Seeing Addison like this, James and Mary were speechless.
Meanwhile, in Jane's study, Amanda was furious, slamming the table and shouting, "Son of bitch! They expect me to go crawling to Mary? Who the hell does she think she is? Charles is a family reject! No matter how sharp he is, he's still a reject! I gave him a shot, and he spat in my face. If I hadn't taken him in, he'd have been a nobody years ago! And now he's got the nerve to cross me? And those contracts—that's James's handiwork! Shouldn't Mary clean up his mess? The whole family's gunning for me! Do they really think I'm some pushover?"
Amanda was so angry she almost spit blood.
She'd always been treated with respect—not exactly worshipped, but no one dared cross her. If she told Charles to kneel, he'd drop without a second thought.
Now, being repeatedly challenged by James and Mary, Amanda was furious.
A dozen Smith Family members stood with their heads down, their faces showing fear but also dissatisfaction, clearly thinking about the hundred billion dollar order.
"Grandma, they have the contracts now, and we can't afford to lose this deal. What if I go talk to Mary?" Jane struggled to her feet, looking all pitiful and ready to fold. "I'll apologize, I'll beg, I'll even step down as president if I have to. As long as we get those three contracts back, I don't care what it takes! Grandma, give me a ride," her voice was thick with fake sorrow, "For the greater good."
"Cut the 'greater good' crap! I don't bow to threats," Amanda snapped, glaring up at a middle-aged woman. "Eagle Lady, listen up—go chop off one of Mary's legs and bring it to me!"
