Chapter 349 Kneel
Five minutes later, Nathaniel and Mia took Ruby and headed out to the car.
Then, Francis left with the incapacitated Ollie.
"Mr. Green will see us out. The rest of you stay in the room for half an hour."
"Mr. Green will be back in two hours."
"No questions, no bargaining, and definitely don't follow us."
James stood at the door, listening to Nathaniel's car start. Once he heard it drive away, he locked the room door and left as quickly as possible.
Two hours later, at an old Blossoms Villa from the 1980s, Nathaniel welcomed James and the others inside.
This was one of his arranged safe houses.
Inside the villa, Mia placed Ruby on the couch.
Francis tossed the tightly bound Ollie beside her.
"Alright, I got you out safely. Can I go now?" Ollie, his eyelids twitching, shouted. "In this line of work, a promise is a promise. Always leave some room for future encounters."
"Just stay put." James didn't even glance at Ollie. He walked slowly to the couch and began examining the weak, drunken woman.
Ruby had her limbs broken by Mia and her nerves twisted. Though she had undergone some recovery, she was still powerless.
She wouldn't be knocked out by a single punch, but she couldn't fight off two grown men.
Once the top member of the Mystic Alliance at Glowing Oasis, now reduced to being bullied, James couldn't help but reflect on the unpredictability of life.
James took out silver needles and performed acupuncture, forcing the alcohol out of Ruby's system to clear her mind.
"You're Mia, you're Nathaniel, you're James!"
Ruby regained some clarity, her eyes wide as she recognized each person in front of her, finally identifying James.
Ollie was shocked, staring at Mia and the others in disbelief, realizing it was Nathaniel and his group.
At the same time, he felt a sense of familiarity with the name James.
"James!" Ruby suddenly roared, sitting up and throwing a punch at James's head.
James raised his hand effortlessly, catching Ruby's fist.
"With that strength, you couldn't even kill a chicken, let alone me."
"Let go of me, let go! I'll kill you!"
Ruby was filled with grief and anger. "I want to avenge my master!"
Avenge her master?
Ollie suddenly realized something, his body turning cold. Could James be the one who killed Larry?
This was bad, really bad. His life was in danger; James would definitely eliminate him.
"Impressive, even in this situation, you're still thinking about avenging Larry rather than seeking justice for yourself."
James smiled slightly. "Ruby, you're admirable, but a bit foolish."
"What did you say?"
Ruby wanted to strangle James, but her body and hands were too weak.
"James, you can kill me, but you can't humiliate me."
"You are indeed foolish."
"First, Larry wasn't killed by me. We did have conflicts, but he didn't die by my hand. Otherwise, how could the Mystic Alliance not find out?"
James smiled faintly: "And at this point, do I need to lie to a cripple like you?"
Hearing the word "cripple," Ruby was furious but also realized James probably wasn't Larry's killer. Otherwise, Lancelot would have killed James long ago.
"Regardless, my master's death is related to you. You can't escape responsibility."
Ruby's tone was still cold, but her expression showed less hatred and more resentment.
She wanted to say that the disunity in the Mystic Alliance was also related to James, but she knew it was mostly due to their own incompetence.
James chuckled.
"Second, you should know I saved you just now. Otherwise, you'd already be someone's plaything."
James pointed at Ollie, who trembled and quickly shouted to Ruby, "Ruby, it wasn't me, it was Mad Dog's idea," Ollie stammered, feeling his life was completely doomed.
Ruby ignored Ollie, staring at James and shouting, "I didn't ask you to save me."
"But I did save you, so you owe me a favor," James replied calmly.
James continued, "Third, as the top student of the Mystic Alliance at Glowing Oasis, loyal and respectful to Larry, your priority shouldn't be venting at me, your so-called enemy. You should focus on rebuilding the Mystic Alliance. Otherwise, not only will the Mystic Alliance suffer, but its members might not even have enough to eat. You should know what's more important."
James's words made Mia and the others realize that Ruby's grief had turned into sorrow and helplessness.
"Do you think I don't want to rebuild the Mystic Alliance?" Ruby retorted. "Do you think I don't want to fulfill my master's wish and make the Mystic Alliance the top alliance? But I'm a cripple. I can barely keep my own body intact. How can I have the strength to lead the Mystic Alliance, where strength means everything?"
Ruby looked disheartened. When the Mystic Alliance turmoil began, she tried to use her name to mediate and peacefully elect a new president.
But no one respected her. Even the Green family didn't take Ruby seriously, only demanding she hand over the assets Larry entrusted to her.
She gave billions to the Green family, hoping they would peacefully elect a leader, but it only fueled their greed. When they found out Ruby was the largest shareholder of Wish Group, the Green family members used any means to force her to hand over her shares.
Ollie even lured her here, drugged her, trying to take her body and shares. She was humiliated because she had no power to resist, so Ruby scoffed at the idea of rebuilding the Mystic Alliance.
"James, stop humiliating me," Ruby sighed sadly. "Humiliating a cripple like me brings no satisfaction. Either kill me or let me go. You saved me tonight, so let's call it even. I won't seek revenge anymore, and I can't kill you anyway."
Ruby slowly stood up. "Goodbye."
"I can repair your meridians," James leaned back in a chair, looking at Ruby calmly. "But you have to be my dog."
"James, don't push me too far!" Ruby was initially angry at the idea of being a dog, but then she looked at James in shock. "What? You can repair my meridians? How is that possible?"
Ruby had visited countless doctors, none could heal her. Being able to walk and do light work was the best outcome. How could her meridians be repaired, restoring her strength?
"I repaired Mia's Energy Core after I destroyed it," James's tone was indifferent. "Healing your meridians is even easier. Of course, there's no free lunch. I can help you regain your peak strength, but you have to be my loyal dog."
He looked down at Ruby. "Don't worry, I won't humiliate you. I just need you to guard my home."
"You can heal me, you can repair..." Ruby trembled, looking at Mia for confirmation, becoming more excited.
Only those who lost their strength knew how precious it was. Only those who lived in constant danger knew how important it was to have the ability to protect themselves.
But Ruby quickly shook her head. "James, I'm tempted, and I'm not afraid to be a loyal dog. But I swore long ago, to live and die as a member of the Mystic Alliance. I can only pledge loyalty to people like Lancelot and the President of the Mystic Alliance."
Ruby's words were firm, filled with defiance and loyalty.
James took out a token and tossed it to her. "Kneel."
Glowing Oasis President?
Ruby and Ollie were stunned.
