Chapter111Movie Time

<Chapter>Chapter111Movie Time</Chapter>

Madison must have been hungry for not eating enough at lunch because the meal Matthew brought was devoured by the two of them, with Madison eating more than Matthew.

Madison decided to take the insulated container back home later because washing it at the studio would be inconvenient.

Sensing that he was a bit down today, Madison took the initiative as they sat on the couch. "Matthew, Nicholas just came back from a business trip and called me around noon. He said he was near the studio, so we grabbed lunch together," she explained.

As she spoke, she raised her left hand. "Look, I've already told Nicholas that we're back together."

The sparkling ring on her finger, previously worn, shone brightly. Matthew's doubts vanished. He trusted Madison but lacked confidence in himself, haunted by past mistakes.

He enveloped Madison in his arms, relishing the embrace. She noticed the fingers encircling her—strikingly attractive.

"If you keep staring at your husband like that, I might think you want to..." Matthew whispered tantalizing words into Madison's ear, his breath warm against her skin.

Madison blushed as she attempted to push him away, but Matthew held her firmly. After a brief struggle on the couch and a passionate kiss, he eventually let her go.

Madison went back to her desk to resume her work. Matthew displayed no intention of leaving; as she occupied herself, he sprawled on her office sofa, absorbed in his game.

Their presence felt like a couple in the throes of a new romance, wanting to stay close at all times. They worked on their tasks, yet the atmosphere was immensely tender.

As Madison focused on her drawing, Matthew glanced up from his game and saw her concentrated expression, his lips curving into a smile.

He cherished this feeling.

The afternoon sunlight angled in, enveloping the woman he adored in a gentle radiance as she focused on her work. His features softened, mirroring the warmth in his heart brought by the sun's embrace.

He wished time could freeze at this moment, in this lovely, cozy instant.

Madison felt a heated gaze upon her and, looking up unguardedly, locked eyes with Matthew's affectionate stare. They exchanged smiles.

"Won't you get bored waiting here? Maybe you should head back first. I'll finish this draft and take a cab home later," she offered.

"No, I'll wait. We'll go back together. Take your time drawing," he replied, settling comfortably.

Madison finished her work early that day, and they left the studio together, laughing and holding hands. With time to spare, Matthew suggested they catch a movie—a classic date idea he hadn't actually experienced yet.

Madison thought of their little ones at home and hesitated, "But Quentin and Hannah are still at home. Maybe we should—"

"Gramps took them fishing. They're having a blast. Why else do you think they didn't insist on tagging along with me?" he reassured her.

"All right then, we can head home for dinner after the movie."

There was a cinema within walking distance at the mall near the studio, so they opted to stroll over rather than drive.

Once at the theater, Matthew went to purchase the tickets—they had agreed on a recently released comedy for some light entertainment.

Madison queued for refreshments, opting for two milkshakes—one grape-flavored and one plain.

Although it was a matinee show, the weekend timing and the film's popularity meant the theater was nearly full. They found their seats in the center of the back row, offering a great view. This section was commonly reserved for couples, mostly in their twenties to forties.

Once they were settled, Madison passed the plain milkshake to Matthew. Normally, he wasn't fond of sweet drinks, but since it was a treat from her, he accepted it gladly and found the taste surprisingly enjoyable. He looked curiously at the one she held.

"What flavor is yours?" he asked.

"Grape," she replied, still focused on the film but passing her milkshake instinctively.

Rather than take the milkshake, Matthew pulled her in by the back of her head for a deep kiss.

"Nice choice... better than the plain," he commented after a moment, feeling content.

Madison blushed, glancing surreptitiously at the nearby moviegoers to make sure no one had noticed.

Madison was fully engaged in the rom-com, laughing sincerely from the start. The theater echoed with laughter regularly, and surprisingly, Madison teared up during sentimental moments. Matthew knew she was deeply involved in movies and easily moved to tears, but he hadn't expected a comedy to affect her like this.

Their fellow audience members were all smiles, while the woman beside Matthew was teary-eyed. He reached for a tissue and gently dried her eyes, smiling softly at the sweet display of emotion.

Madison was quite the emotionally invested moviegoer, always crying and laughing along with the scenes. As she dabbed at her tears, Matthew looked on indulgently.

She glanced at him, his gaze dark and luminous, as inviting and deep as an ocean that one could lose oneself in. With a soft giggle and flushed cheeks, she turned away.

"Stop crying, or I'll have to kiss you right here," he threatened playfully, though he couldn't bear to see her cry.

Dry-eyed now, Madison laughed, raising her hand to punch him playfully, but she held back her strength, and it turned into a gentle tickle for Matthew.

Seizing the moment, he intertwined his fingers with hers, their hands locked together.

They attempted to refocus on the movie, but a couple in the row in front of them engaged in passionate kissing, capturing Matthew's full attention. The film no longer held any interest for him. After all, they were on a date.

Realizing the privacy offered by the last row of lovers' seats, which lacked armrests to separate them, Matthew began to steal kisses more boldly.

Observing that nobody was paying attention, particularly in their secluded row where everyone was immersed in their embraces, Madison allowed him to express his affections freely.

As the movie came to a close, they both experienced a lingering sense of incompleteness.

Madison pondered over the film plot while Matthew relished the memory of their tender moments.
