Chapter 218 A Studious Boy

After breakfast, Mrs. Sterling and Mr. Sterling took Quentin and Hannah to play in the backyard of their suburban home. They all agreed to stay home and rest for the day. The Sterlings had already decided on their return time to Pinecrest City, and Mrs. Sterling needed to make sure she had enough time to finish the clothes Madison had been making for her.

Madison returned to her room during the break before lunch and continued painting. At the same time, Matthew stayed in the study room, reviewing company materials and reports, as he was preparing to go back to work the next day and wanted to familiarize himself with the situation in advance.

Dorian said he had something to attend to and left the house, skipping lunch.

Madison prepared a light lunch for lunch. After the meal, Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, and their two children took a nap while Matthew continued to stay in the study room, reviewing the company reports. Utilizing this time, Madison went to the studio. She remembered that she had left some fabric there.

Sunday was a rest day at the studio, so Madison was alone there, working until dusk. She only realized how late it was when Matthew called her.

"Hey, are you still at the studio, dear?"

"I got busy and forgot. I haven't cooked yet." Madison was fully immersed in her work. Previously, their storage room had been converted into her small studio, and she had cut the fabric there, planning to sew it back at home. She was worried that Mom would find out and ruin the surprise, so she intended to finish the project at the studio. It was already getting dark.

"It's okay. I asked Steven about it, and he recommended a Homestyle Cuisine restaurant. He said we often went there, and you liked it. Let's take Mom and Dad there to try it. Are you done with your work? Go directly to the restaurant." Matthew made arrangements.

"Thank you, dear." Madison was surprised and grateful to hear that Matthew had taken the initiative to ask Steven for a restaurant recommendation and had already made plans. She thanked him sweetly with a smile.

"I wouldn't mind if you thanked me in other ways." Matthew couldn't help but tease Madison over the phone as he listened to her soft voice, feeling a surge of heat coursing through him.

Madison immediately caught on. It wasn't her fault for having such a strong comprehension. The deep, husky voice came through the phone, a laugh so low and reminiscent of certain moments one could only hear at night...

She didn't dare say a word, so she quickly said, "See you at the restaurant," and hung up the phone.

Matthew's smile grew wider.
When Madison arrived at Homestyle Cuisine, Matthew was already there with Mr. Sterling, Mrs. Sterling, and their two children. Matthew had already ordered the food. This Homestyle Cuisine restaurant was a place that Matthew used to bring Madison to eat before he had his accident. Madison loved their specialties. Matthew ordered all of the signature dishes.

Just as Madison sat down, Dorian approached. Madison asked him what he had been busy with, and Dorian said he had been helping. He had a friend at the Horizon City police station who was his former classmate. They had a case recently, and since Dorian happened to be in Horizon City, he went to help him.

"You actually have a classmate in Horizon City." Madison felt it was a strange coincidence.

"Yes, I only recently reconnected with him and found out that he works at the police station in Horizon City." Dorian himself hadn't expected his friend to be in Horizon City.

"My friend usually appears very serious and meticulous, giving the impression that he is difficult to get along with, but he is definitely a good man. He doesn't smoke, drink, or have any bad habits. He has never been in a relationship. Madison, if you have any suitable friends, you can introduce them. After all, everyone is in Horizon City," Dorian casually said while eating. "If it weren't for you being with Matthew, I would have introduced you to him when we were in school."

"Dorian." Madison looked at Matthew, who was glaring at Dorian. She couldn't help but speak up. Not to mention that she was already married now, but back when his brother was in school, he didn't even know if he would find her. He shouldn't promise things like this to his friends.

Mrs. Sterling also scolded Dorian, "You're still single, and yet you're worried about other people's relationships. Why don't you think about your own? If it were up to Matthew, he would definitely beat you." Mrs. Sterling showed no mercy toward Dorian.

Seeing Dorian isolated, Matthew said, "Mom, I understand because I've never been in a relationship before."

"Who said I've never been in a relationship? I was in a relationship in high school," Dorian immediately retorted.

Madison looked at Dorian curiously and asked, "Brother, what happened after that?"

"After that, she would constantly ask me to hang out, but I felt she was distracting me from my studies, so I broke up with her," Dorian answered matter-of-factly.
The table fell silent momentarily, and even the children, Quentin and Hannah, quieted down as they watched everyone without speaking. Dorian held a piece of catfish in his hand, ready to put it in his mouth, but the sudden silence made him hesitate. "What's wrong?" He asked.

Madison tried to hold it in but couldn't help but laugh. The soup in her mouth sprayed out, and she burst into laughter. Mrs. Sterling even pounced on Mr. Sterling's shoulder. Although her face couldn't be seen, her shaking shoulders indicated that she was trying hard to hold it in. She didn't expect Dorian to have this first love experience. He had indeed been in a relationship. Both children followed suit and laughed. Even Matthew had a smirk on his face.

Dorian was puzzled. "Is there something wrong? Shouldn't we study hard in high school?"

"No problem, bro, you're right." Madison didn't expect her brother to enjoy studying so much.

Dorian looked up and continued eating. He indeed had only one first love, which lasted for a week. He didn't expect the girl to want to go out and play all the time, and he found it too troublesome, so they broke up. After getting into college, he was surrounded by guys and didn't dare to date. He was already keeping a relatively normal mindset toward women, yet they still mocked him.
