Chapter 273 Won't Give Up Easily
Mitchell's hand holding the pen paused. He looked up at Laura, his expression giving away no emotions, but a slight blush behind his ears revealed his embarrassment at having his secret exposed.
Laura continued, "I had already figured it out. I didn't realize you were quite innocent. At your age, secretly loving her under the guise of caring for your sister is quite unexpected."
Mitchell listened to Laura's words with a stern expression, as if he was about to get angry. However, Laura quickly backed down and said, "Alright, as long as you can handle both parents, I'm okay with it. I'll leave now and wait for your good news." Laura picked up her bag and walked out of Mitchell's office. As she was leaving, she stopped at the door, turned around to face Mitchell, and said, "I believe you have a way to handle your parents, as well as mine. But what I want to tell you is that I'm not giving up on you. It's rare for me to pursue someone, so how could I easily give up after being rejected once? So, good luck to you, goodbye." Without waiting for Mitchell's response, Laura left, leaving him sitting on the chair in a daze.
Willow couldn't fall asleep during her nap, so she felt out of sorts for the entire afternoon. Luckily, work wasn't too busy lately, so she could sneak in some laziness and avoid doing work-related tasks.
Toward the end of the workday, Willow received a call from Jimmy. Remembering her mother's instructions at lunch, she didn't ignore it and answered the call.
Jimmy didn't have much hope that the call would go through since Willow had been ignoring him for a while. When the call suddenly connected, he was taken aback. "Willow, you finally answered my call."
Willow felt a little embarrassed. She couldn't exactly say that she was angry because he didn't let Mitchell help with the paper. She cleared her throat and explained, "Yes, I've been busy with work recently. That's why I didn't answer your call." Jimmy listened to her clumsy excuse but didn't expose her. He happily said, "Do you have time today? I'll treat you to dinner. I received the payment for the project I was working on with Mr. Ward."
"Let me treat you instead. Just keep that money as your living expenses. And thank you for sending tea to my father. You don't have to spend money on it anymore," Willow thought it was a good opportunity to fulfill her mother's task.
Jimmy was happy with the offer. It didn't matter who paid as long as they could have a meal together. The payment would come later anyway. He casually explained about the tea, "It was grown in my classmate's hometown, and it's not expensive. I mainly wanted to support my classmate's family business. I bought extra because I couldn't finish it myself. My uncle said it tasted good last time, so I sent him two cans."
Willow didn't see any reason to argue and didn't care enough to investigate further. She just wanted to have a meal with him and complete the task her mother assigned to her.
"Where are you planning to go for dinner tonight?" Willow asked. Since he said he was treating, he must have chosen a good place. She didn't mind what they ate as long as she didn't have to pay.
"How about the shrimp you missed out on last time you had a cold? I'll take you to the restaurant," Jimmy said enthusiastically.
"Sure," Willow said. Just send me the address. I'll be off work soon and go directly to the store." Willow checked the time and realized she would be off work soon. Jimmy was probably at school, so they planned to meet at the store.
"No problem," Jimmy hung up the phone happily, then looked up at the big sign of JK Group with a slight smile on his face. Actually, he had been downstairs the whole time. He called Willow after he arrived at the JK Group building. The original plan was for him to wait downstairs if she didn't pick up his call and then confront her when she left work. He didn't expect the call to go through. He intentionally didn't tell Willow that he was waiting downstairs, thinking that she would be surprised when she saw him later.
Jimmy paced back and forth at the entrance of the building, holding his phone with a smile on his face as he occasionally glanced toward the elevator. He was wearing black casual pants, a white T-shirt, and a light blue shirt on top. One hand was in his pocket, and his slightly messy hair made people want to reach out and touch it. His handsome appearance under the sun caught the attention of many young girls who were leaving work and walking out of the elevator, causing them to whisper.
Willow finished packing and left the office on time. She walked with her head down and looked at her phone, but she still needed to receive the address Jimmy had sent. When the elevator arrived on the first floor, she was about to call Jimmy when she heard a familiar voice behind her. "Willow."
Willow turned around and saw Mitchell standing behind her. "Mitchell," she said. Did Mitchell get off the same elevator as her? She was too focused on her phone to notice. As she was thinking about this, she saw Mitchell walking toward her and saying, "What are you looking at so intently? You've been staring at your phone since you got on the elevator."
Embarrassed, Willow nervously held her phone and smiled foolishly. Mitchell had already walked up to her. "Are you off work?" he asked.
Willow nodded blankly and continued to smile foolishly. "Yes, I'm off work. Mitchell, are you off work too?"
Seeing her cute and silly expression, Mitchell couldn't help but smile and tease her, "Yes, am I not off work at the same time as everyone else?"
Willow grabbed her bag, about to say goodbye to Mitchell when she heard a familiar voice. Jimmy appeared out of nowhere and suddenly stood in front of her. Upon seeing him, Willow widened her eyes and hesitantly asked, "You... weren't you...in the school dormitory?"
Jimmy walked up to her and stood side by side with her, smiling at her and even winking playfully before saying, "When did I say I was in the dormitory, Willow?"
Willow tilted her head and thought for a moment. He seemed not to say it; she had assumed he was in the dormitory. Willow asked, puzzled, "When did you come?"
Jimmy turned his head to look at Mitchell, his face suddenly becoming meaningful. "I came very early," he said. But when he turned his head back to Willow, he resumed his sunny and cheerful demeanor.
Mitchell stood face-to-face with them, his mouth that had just lifted returning to its normal state. "Willow, let me take you back," he said before Willow could speak. But before Willow could respond, Jimmy interrupted, "Apologies, President Jonah. Willow invited me to eat shrimp tonight, and I will take her back after we're done."
Mitchell didn't look at Jimmy; instead, his eyes were fixed on Willow as if waiting for her answer. All Willow could do was smile foolishly and hesitantly ask, "Mitchell, do you want to come with us to eat shrimp?"
