Chapter 478 Not Pregnant

Among the girls, Willow was the most envious. She secretly wondered if Mitchell would act the same way if she were pregnant. In her eyes, Madison, who was pregnant, looked so happy, and she began to look forward to being pregnant herself.

Meanwhile, Mitchell quietly noted all the tips Matthew mentioned about taking care of a pregnant woman.

Willow looked at the cherry tomatoes on the table and picked one up to eat. It was tangy and quite tasty. Unconsciously, she ate quite a few along with Madison.

Danielle, sitting across from her, noticed and said, "Willow, you never liked cherry tomatoes. Why are you eating so many today?"

"I don't know either. Watching Madison eat them made me want to try, and they taste pretty good today," Willow said with a smile, popping another one into her mouth.

Valerie had washed a lot of fruit today, and there were two large plates of cherry tomatoes, mostly eaten by Madison and Willow.

Madison seemed to think of something and quietly called Willow upstairs. She took out a pregnancy test she had bought earlier and handed it to Willow with a smile, saying, "Test it tomorrow morning. You might already be pregnant."

She noticed Willow's change in taste and her preference for sour foods, which was a good sign.

Willow stared at the pregnancy test in Madison's hand for a while before realizing what it was. When she saw the words 'pregnancy test' on the box, she shook off her reverie and returned to her senses, her face lighting up with joy. She realized it was Christmas today and calculated that her period was about a week late. She had been so busy lately that she had forgotten about it.

"Thank you, Madison," she said with a smile, putting the test kit in her pocket.

When they went downstairs, everyone was in the yard. It was about twenty minutes to midnight, and people were already setting off fireworks in the sky. Everyone had moved the fireworks they bought to the backyard.

When Madison and Willow arrived, they saw Quentin and Hannah playing with sparklers, with Patrick lighting them. Danielle and Ophelia were also playing with fireworks like children. Willow joined them after coming downstairs.

As the clock struck midnight, Matthew and Victor lit the biggest firework. It exploded in the sky, turning into the most beautiful display of fireworks. Everyone looked up, smiling, and made their wishes.

On the way home that night, Mitchell had been drinking, so Willow drove. The others had called for their own rides.

Mitchell could tell Willow was in a great mood, smiling the whole way. He leaned back in the passenger seat, looking at her with a slight smile, his eyes half-closed from the alcohol.

When they got home, Willow hid the pregnancy test. Ever since Madison mentioned it, she felt like she might be pregnant. Her period was usually punctual, only a day or two late at most, but never a whole week.

Early the next morning, she quietly got up and went to the bathroom to test according to the instructions. She was full of anticipation but only saw one line on the test. She checked the instructions again, and one line meant she wasn't pregnant.

She couldn't believe it. Her period was late, so why was there only one line? She looked at the test again and again, but it was still just one line. She felt deflated. There was a knock on the bathroom door, and Mitchell's slightly hoarse morning voice came through. He asked, "Willow, are you up?"

He had reached out habitually to find her but only felt empty space. Opening his eyes, he saw he was alone in bed. He looked around the room and saw the bathroom door closed with the light on.

He was slightly puzzled. Why was Willow up so early today?

"Yeah, I'm just using the bathroom. I'll be out soon," Willow said, startled by his voice. She quickly threw the test and packaging into the trash, covered it with a lot of tissue, washed her face, and walked out.

Mitchell thought she might have eaten too much yesterday, especially the cherry tomatoes. He looked concerned. Worried, he asked, "What's wrong? Are you feeling sick? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

"No need." Willow quickly waved her hand in refusal. She said, "I'm fine, not feeling sick at all."

After that, she didn't go back to sleep. It was still Christmas break, and she would usually stay in bed.

After breakfast, Mitchell had a video conference in the study, and Willow watched TV on the couch. She decided to message Madison on Facebook.

Willow: [Madison, what are you doing? I tested this morning.]

Madison quickly replied.

Madison: [How did it go? Are you pregnant?]

She was clearly excited and eager to know the result.

Willow sent a disappointed emoji.

Willow: [No, just one line.]

Madison: [Did you follow the instructions correctly?]

Willow: [I followed the instructions, so it should be right.]

Madison: [Maybe it's still early. Buy some test strips from the pharmacy and try again in a few days if your period doesn't come.]

She tried to comfort Willow. For some reason, she felt Willow was pregnant.

Willow: [Okay, thanks, Madison.]

In the next few days, she ate well and had a good appetite. She bought more pregnancy tests from the pharmacy, but they still showed one line after two days. She gave up hope of being pregnant, thinking her period was just late due to stress and irregular cycles. She even considered seeing a doctor.

She had seen newly pregnant colleagues at work who had poor appetites and nausea. She had no such symptoms, so she was sure she wasn't pregnant. She relaxed, thinking it was just a matter of time since both she and Mitchell were healthy. Maybe the baby just got lost on the way to her.

So after the second negative test, she stopped worrying about possibly being pregnant.
