Chapter 292 Willow Gets Drunk (1)
After a while, Madison and Matthew returned with Quentin and Hannah, who had just finished their performance. Matthew was carrying Hannah while Madison held Quentin's hand. The family of four walked back, still relishing the moment when the two little ones had sung on stage, praising their bravery and talent.
Madison's eyes widened as they reached the table as she saw Willow slumped over. "Has Willow had too much to drink? How much beer did she secretly consume? I thought it was just a beverage," Madison wondered, focusing on her food rather than the beer, so she couldn't believe Willow had gotten drunk.
Mitchell nodded as he looked at Willow, who was now asleep. He, too, wasn't sure how much she had drunk, as the beer didn't affect him much, and it wasn't strong. Knowing she couldn't handle alcohol well, he didn't stop her, especially since everyone was in high spirits, and she ended up getting drunk.
Matthew put Hannah down and said, "It's okay; the hotel isn't far. We can go back and sleep later." Matthew didn't see a problem with being a little tipsy when everyone was having such a good time. Madison sat down with a smile, and Quentin, looking at Willow, asked, "Mom, what's wrong with Auntie?"
Madison put more oysters on the grill and replied, "Auntie is just taking a nap."
"Why did Auntie fall asleep so early?" Hannah innocently asked.
"Auntie had to wake up early to catch a flight, so she's tired," Madison made up an excuse, feeling it wasn't appropriate to say Willow was drunk in front of the children. But Hannah saw through her and, with a tilted head and a naive look, said, "Auntie is clearly drunk, right, Quentin?" She even looked to Quentin for confirmation.
Quentin stood by his mother's side and joined in the deception, "Auntie is just asleep." Hannah, hearing this, doubted herself and turned to Matthew, "Dad, did Auntie fall asleep or get drunk? What do you think?"
With a kind smile, Matthew looked at his daughter, pinched her cheek, and said, "Whatever Hannah says is the truth." Hannah turned her head, looked at Madison and Quentin, and said, "Auntie got drunk."
This caused everyone to burst into laughter, and Madison thought to herself that the two little ones had grown up and couldn't be fooled anymore. It was a face-saving move for herself.
It was still early, and the group continued with the second round of barbecue and beer. Matthew and Mitchell rarely had such a relaxing time. Since Matthew got married, he had made an effort to spend time with Madison, Hannah, and Quentin. On the other hand, Mitchell continued his workaholic lifestyle with little rest, at most going to the bar with Liam and Patrick. So, this kind of time was really rare and enjoyable.
The outdoor KTV went on for about two hours, and then the boss put on a classic foreign animated movie, "Up." The beach turned into an open-air cinema, and the atmosphere was fantastic. Madison regretted not coming a few nights ago; this place was never boring.
This movie was one of Madison's favorites, and she had watched it with Quentin and Hannah at home before.
"Mom, we watched this movie together," Hannah exclaimed as she saw the familiar scenes on the screen.
"Really, Mom, you took me and Hannah to see this movie. I remember it's called 'Up,'" Quentin recalled the name of the movie. Madison also remembered that after watching the movie, the two little ones insisted on buying many balloons to make their house fly.
The classic lines from the movie were still fresh in Madison's memory and had always been a guiding principle in her life.
"Happiness is not about immortality, wealth, or power. It's about every small wish in life coming true."
Madison had always pursued this kind of life, where simplicity was the essence of true happiness.
The two little ones each had an oyster and some skewers, held hands and went to watch the movie. Several other children and adults had already gathered around; everyone loved to watch heartwarming and healing movies.
Madison looked at Willow and said, "Willow, are you sure you won't catch a cold sleeping here? Let me take you back."
Although Mitchell had given her a thin jacket to wear, the evening breeze was still cool, and it wouldn't be good if she caught a cold.
Mitchell stood up and said, "Matthew, Madison, I'll take Willow back to the room to rest," as he prepared to help Willow up. Unexpectedly, Willow woke up on her own, her eyes still drowsy, and she looked at Madison, "Madison, did you call me?"
Madison couldn't help but smile at her cute and dazed look. "You're awake? I was just about to help you back to sleep. Don't catch a cold lying here."
"Is it over?" Willow thought everyone was ready to leave. "Let's go," she said, suddenly standing up, startling everyone.
Madison quickly asked Mitchell to support her. "Don't rush, it's not over yet. Let Mitchell take you back first." But as soon as Willow heard that it wasn't over, she sat back down. "If it's not over, I'm not going back. I haven't eaten enough yet." Mitchell stood by her side, waiting for her to sit back down before he did.
Hearing Willow say she hadn't eaten enough, Madison quickly handed her some freshly grilled shrimp and beef. "You were too busy drinking earlier. Have some more to eat, and I'll get you some more seafood." Madison was about to get up to fetch more food, and Matthew stood up, too. "I'll go with you." The two of them went inside to get more food.
Although Willow was awake, her eyes were vacant as she stared at the food on the table, showing no reaction. After Mitchell peeled the shrimp, he put it in her bowl and said, "Eat up."
Willow looked at Mitchell with a starry-eyed expression, which left him somewhat dazed. Suddenly, she broke into a big smile and said, "Thank you, Mitchell," loudly and cheerfully.
Mitchell couldn't help but smile back and continued peeling the shrimp, feeling a sense of joy.
