Chapter 269 A Simple and Beautiful Day

Madison walked up to her daughter and saw that Hannah had sand on her face and hair. She squatted down with a smile and asked, "Hannah, have you finished building the castle with your brother?"

Hannah struggled to carry the half-bucket of sand she had prepared to her brother. "Mommy, we'll be done soon." Madison helped her carry it over.

Quentin wet the sand with water and shaped it as he desired. Seeing Matthew and Madison approaching, he excitedly showed them the results of their afternoon.

The parents of the other two children couldn't wait and urged them to leave first, leaving Quentin and Hannah to finish up the remaining work. Matthew and Madison didn't rush the two children and accompanied them to complete the final construction. When the castle was completed, the two little ones jumped up, clapped their hands, and cheered. They even had their mom take several photos of them with the castle. They reluctantly bid farewell to the castle, waving their hands at it. The family of four walked hand in hand on the beach, slowly making their way back to the hotel.

They could still hear Hannah's grandmother's voice from afar, "Mommy, are we coming to this beach tomorrow?"

Madison held her daughter's little hand and smiled as she replied, "Yes, we'll be staying for several days, so we can come anytime."

"Will the castle that my brother and I built still be there tomorrow?" Hannah was still thinking about the castle they had spent so long building.

Hearing her daughter's hopeful voice, Madison hesitated for a moment. After all, the sea would surely wash away the castle tonight.

Matthew immediately picked up his daughter and said softly, "I don't know if the castle will still be there tomorrow, but if it's gone, Daddy and your brother will build you a new one, okay?"

Quentin also chimed in, "Hannah, it's okay. I'll build an even bigger castle for you tomorrow," as he gestured with his hand.

Matthew glanced at his son, revealing a look of satisfaction and admiration. He held his daughter with one hand and his Son's hand with the other while Madison stood next to him. A family of four walked back with laughter and chatter.

Hannah lay on her father's shoulder, thinking about the children's water park she had seen on the beach earlier that day. In a childish voice, she asked, "Daddy, once we finish building the sandcastle tomorrow, I want to play on the water slide."

"Sure," Matthew immediately agreed. He never refused his daughter's requests. Madison sometimes wondered if Matthew would even find a way to make it happen if Hannah asked for the stars in the sky.

Back at the hotel, they washed the two little ones' hair and bathed them, then changed them into clean clothes. It was getting late, and they had yet to venture far, so they settled for dinner at the hotel's buffet restaurant. Quentin and Hannah looked excitedly at all the snacks, desserts, and fruits, eagerly pulling their parents into the restaurant. As soon as they found a seat, Hannah couldn't wait for her father to give her a piece of strawberry cake, and she devoured it in a couple of bites. After all, it was a five-star hotel buffet, offering a wide variety of dishes with excellent quality. The presentation was exceptionally delicate, overwhelming the eyes with its stunning selection.

The joy of a buffet lies in being able to taste a little bit of everything. Ultimately, Quentin and Hannah grabbed an ice cream and concluded their first dinner by the seaside.

After dinner, the family returned to their room. The cool sea breeze blew in through the balcony. Quentin and Hannah lay on the bed watching cartoons while Matthew opened his computer to deal with some emails. Madison, holding her sketchbook, was inspired by the day's outing. She felt a constant stream of ideas flooding her mind, impatient to translate them into her work.

Enjoying the sound of the waves, the family of four savored the blissful moments. A mundane yet beautiful day was coming to an end.

After the children had watched cartoons for half an hour and Madison had put away her sketchbook, Matthew continued to work on his computer. Madison recalled the boy she had encountered earlier in the day. She thought it would be nice if their family could have a photoshoot together, offering compensation to the other family so as not to feel awkward. After making up her mind, Madison took the initiative to contact them and confirm the shooting time for the next day. Then she put the two little ones to bed. They had booked a family suite, which had two rooms – one with a large bed and the other with two single beds – just like the New River Garden room.

Once the children were in bed, Madison turned off the lights and left their room. She saw that Matthew was still busy on his computer, so she grabbed her pajamas and went to take a shower. By the time she came out, Matthew had finally closed his laptop.

"Matthew, are you done with your work?" Madison walked over and asked. Matthew nodded as he finished organizing his computer, "Yes, I had a discussion with Third Bro regarding a few files. Don't wait up for me. I'm going to take a shower."

"During the time you were away, Third Bro and the others worked hard," Madison said, walking next to Matthew and holding his hand.

Matthew confidently replied, "Well, it's their fault for not having wives and children." He said it with a sense of righteousness. Madison playfully glanced at him and prepared to go to bed first. However, Matthew held onto her hand and didn't let her leave. "Wife, are Quentin and Hannah asleep? Is there a door in their room?" Madison paused for a moment and looked at the connecting passage between Quentin and Hannah's room and their room. There shouldn't be a door there. She didn't understand the meaning behind Matthew's question and honestly answered, "There isn't a door over there." Matthew wrapped his arms around her from behind, and Madison heard a soft sigh. Then, before she could react, he directly captured her trembling lips. As their lips met, both of them felt a surge of electricity spreading throughout their bodies as if time had stopped.

It wasn't until both of them were breathing heavily that Matthew let go of Madison and held her in his arms, panting. Madison lowered her gaze with a hint of shyness, her cheeks turning slightly red. Her heart was full of happiness and satisfaction. It wasn't until now that she realized the meaning behind Matthew's question earlier. She couldn't help but feel even more shy, and her cheeks grew redder. But in this current situation, doing anything more wouldn't be possible. The two little ones were in the next room.

The two of them held each other for a while before Matthew let go, saying, "You should get some rest. I'll join you after I finish showering." Madison nodded, ran to the bed, and hid under the covers. After a while, she could hear the sound of running water from the bathroom. Maybe it was because she was in an unfamiliar environment; her senses were heightened, and she felt a little uncomfortable.
