Chapter 239 Morning Run

After listening to Willow's story, Daniel also felt a bit upset. He never thought that his brother, who always seemed indifferent, actually had someone he liked! But who is the high school girl in a school uniform that he keeps in his wallet? Daniel was very curious.

Daniel's mind was racing, trying to search for who the girl hidden in his brother's wallet could be. Unfortunately, after searching for a while, besides Willow and their mom, there were no other suspicious women in his brother's life! Could it be one of his classmates? That seemed to be the only possibility, but his brother always had a cold face in high school and never interacted with others. She even encountered a girl giving him a love letter, but he didn't even glance at her and just walked past her with his backpack, leaving the girl crying behind him. He mostly hung out with boys, and although many girls gave him love letters, she never saw any girls getting close to him. After he started working, he completely cut off contact with women, and even his assistant was male.

Daniel shook his head, deciding not to think about it anymore. She made up her mind that she would take the chance to look into his wallet when Mitchell wasn't paying attention to see who that girl was!

"Don't be sad, Willow. Although my brother is good-looking, has a good temper, and makes money, he's getting old. Yes, he's getting old. We need to look ahead and consider those young and energetic guys like that previous celebrity." Daniel couldn't even convince herself with what she said.

Willow calmly looked at her, wondering if this was supposed to be comforting.

As the sky brightened, Daniel called for Willow to get up. "Let's go. The morning air is good. After eating so much meat yesterday, let's go for a morning run by the lake." Willow was dragged out of bed by her, and they washed their faces and brushed their teeth. They put on their workout clothes and shoes and headed out.

After running for a short distance, Willow and Daniel saw a familiar figure approaching from afar. It was Mitchell! As they got closer, Willow's heart started beating faster. She was considering whether to slip away or turn around. Oh no, she really wanted to cry. If she had known Mitchell would come for a morning run, she would never have gotten up and followed Daniel downstairs. Although she knew they would run into each other eventually, she had hoped it would be a little later.

Daniel looked at his brother, who was dressed in a simple black T-shirt, black quick-drying sports pants, and white running shoes. He suddenly wanted to take back what he had said to Willow in the morning. In fact, his brother looked quite refreshing in this attire.

Although Willow ran slower and slower, she still couldn't escape. Mitchell had already run up to them, and all three of them stopped. Mitchell usually woke up early and had the habit of morning runs. So, even on vacation, he didn't make an exception. He had already run almost three laps. Although it was a slow jog, he was still slightly out of breath.

"Bro, why are you up so early?" Daniel thought they had already woken up early, but judging by his brother's appearance, he had probably already run a few laps.

"Mitchell, good morning," Willow also reluctantly greeted Mitchell, lowering her head even more when she noticed the wound at the corner of his mouth, feeling more guilty.

"How come you guys woke up so early? Today was a rare opportunity to sleep in," Mitchell said, wiping the sweat off his face with a towel. His voice was clear and comforting.

"We ate too much yesterday, trying to lose weight," Daniel explained with a smile.

"With your lack of self-control and not eating less, what weight are you going to lose?" Mitchell mocked his sister unkindly.

"It's better than nothing," Daniel retorted proudly, and the two siblings began to argue. Willow didn't say a word on the side, trying to minimize her presence. While talking to Daniel, Mitchell glanced at the girl who kept her head down. She seemed to have sobered up and realized that it was embarrassing.

"You guys go ahead. I'll go back and take a shower," Mitchell decided to rest after running three laps. Willow, being sensitive, probably already knew about last night from Daniel. She had been trying to escape since she saw him just now. If she didn't leave, she could bury her head below her neck. Anyway, she wouldn't talk to him, and she would probably avoid him for the next few days.

Mitchell turned and went back to the villa with the towel. Daniel pulled Willow, and they ran two more laps before going back. She was so exhausted that she was out of breath. Daniel said she exercised too little on a regular basis, and even a little bit of exercise was too much for her. Willow also realized that she exercised too little, almost none at all. She sat at work all day and lay down after work. It looked like she had to start exercising when she got back.

After running, the two of them went back to their rooms to take a shower and change clothes before going downstairs. By now, everyone else had started to wake up.

Madison woke up in the morning being dragged by Matthew, who didn't want her to get up. After satisfying someone, she got up and planned to prepare breakfast for everyone. Unexpectedly, Nicholas had already arranged for the resort staff to bring them special food. The noodles were cooked and served in bowls on dining plates, along with various seasonings and side dishes. They just needed to add the seasonings and side dishes according to their taste, mix it up, and then they could eat. Madison's mother-in-law liked it after tasting it and said that she must bring some back to Rivertown Bay.

After breakfast, Nicholas left early because he had work to attend to. Before leaving, he instructed the staff to provide good service for everyone. He then recommended the nearby Mountain Paradise, where both adults and children could play. There were many activities, such as horseback riding, go-karting, slides, and archery. Quentin Garcia and Hannah Garcia were excited to hear this and quickly finished their breakfast, waiting to set off.

Nicholas went upstairs to pack his luggage. He had also received a call from a business partner who needed him to go on a business trip, so he ended his vacation early. Rachel glanced at him as he disappeared at the stairs, thinking about his aggrieved expression from last night, and followed him upstairs. Nicholas opened the door to the room and organized his clothes while Rachel stood in the doorway feeling uneasy and nervous, unconsciously stirring her hands behind her back.

"You really have work?" Rachel murmured, breaking the silence.

Nicholas placed his clothes into the suitcase and looked at the petite woman who followed him upstairs but refused to come in. He sighed softly and explained, "Yes, my partner called last night. There's a project that needs me to be on-site."

"Okay," Rachel seemed relieved.

"What? Do you think I can't handle setbacks and run away?" Nicholas teased himself with a smile.

"I didn't think that," Rachel proudly raised her chin. Before Nicholas could respond, she hurriedly said, "I'll go downstairs first." Then she quickly ran downstairs.
