Chapter 152 Danger
Daniel's heart skipped a beat at Evander's reaction. He had only been bluffing to buy time, believing his brother would find them.
But if Evander wasn't fooled, they were in trouble...
Gathering his courage, Daniel continued with forced composure, "I believe Evander is just upset and doesn't really want to trouble us three. Look, you have also sent back our people. Why don't you cool off? Don't spoil the mood. Just let us go."
"You sure have a way with words," said Evander, stroking the woman beside him, finally seeming to relent.
Daniel thought he had convinced him and moved forward with Willow and Ophelia, aiming to leave as quickly as possible, but he was blocked. Evander laughed brazenly, "When did I say you could leave?"
Now, Daniel was truly enraged. Darn it, that lousy bully is taking advantage of his numbers against women.
He turned back, locking eyes fiercely with Evander. "Well, if Evander wants to escalate this, just wait. The police will be here in less than ten minutes. I forgot to tell you, my phone has a tracking feature. Finding this place is a piece of cake."
"Hey, bring over three bottles of liquor," Evander called to one of his guys, and three bottles of vodka were placed on the table.
Daniel and the others didn't understand his intention and remained quiet.
"You can leave, sure, but there's one condition. One bottle per person. Finish it, and you're free to go."
The three of them stared at the bottles on the table. Even Daniel, who could hold his liquor the best, would likely be unable to stand after finishing a whole bottle, and Willow and Ophelia would probably pass out.
"What's wrong? Not brave enough to drink? Since you're too scared, then strip," Evander said, leaning back on the couch, his legs thrown over the table in a grossly suggestive manner that made all three of them sick.
Daniel knew he had to down a bottle of whiskey if he wanted to slip away before his brother arrived. As he mulled over this predicament and potential strategies, he was the first to step forward, "Okay, let's drink, one by one, no problem."
Willow and Ophelia clung to his hands, imploring, "Willow, don't do it."
Evander squinted his eyes and said in a chilling tone, "Trying to stall? All three of you, drink up! Together!"
With an unspoken agreement, the three of them exchanged glances and slowly lifted their bottles, tilting their heads back...
None of them were accustomed to whiskey, and the first gulp was fiery hot. Willow felt a tumultuous churning in her stomach, the hot, burning whiskey threatening to surge back up.
Around them, a mix of guys and gals cheered and screamed. Evander sat smugly at the center, eyeing them with an unhidden, lewd gaze that made one feel even more nauseous.
Daniel held the whiskey in his mouth, resisting the urge to swallow. He silently prayed for Mitchell to hurry up.

When Mitchell received the call from Daniel, he was still at the office and still needed to head home. After the call connected, he didn't hear Daniel's voice but rather loud and rowdy noises, as if he were outside. Thinking at first that Willow had dialed by mistake, he was about to hang up when he suddenly heard a gruff man's voice, intermittent, like that of a man who had had too much to drink, but he caught the crucial phrase, "Take them all back!"
Soon after, the call abruptly ended, and no one answered when he tried calling back. He instantly realized something was wrong.
The man had said, "Take them all back." It wasn't just Willow; Daniel usually hung out with Willow as well.
Concerned, he tried calling Willow, but after the phone rang for a long time, he did not get a response. A sense of dread filled him, and his heart raced as he immediately dialed Matthew.
Meanwhile, Matthew was at home in bed, cuddling with Madison, who had fallen asleep early. On hearing the phone ring, Matthew quickly silenced his phone so as not to disturb Madison and tiptoed to the bathroom to take the call.
"What's up?" Matthew knew it had to be urgent for Mitchell to be calling this late.
"Matthew, Willow might be in trouble, and Daniel is likely with her. I can't reach either of them, so I need to know their location. Willow's phone has tracking enabled. Can you check for me?"
Upon hearing that both were unreachable, Matthew snapped to attention, "Alright, I'll head to my study now and use the computer to track them. I'll send you the location in a bit."
"Okay, Matthew."
Matthew hung up the phone and walked out of the bathroom. Madison asked him in a sleepy voice, "What's up, Matthew?" When the phone rang earlier, although Matthew quickly silenced it, Madison still woke up and felt him getting out of bed and heading to the bathroom. She was a bit uneasy.
Matthew just reassured her, saying, "It's nothing serious. Mitchell needs me to handle something in the study. You can go back to sleep."
"Don't stay up too late."
"Will do. Get some rest now."
Matthew went to the study, powered up his computer, and began typing in a string of code. He was focused and expression serious, his fingers tapping away at the keyboard with a skill level on par with top-tier hackers. It took about ten minutes for Matthew to pinpoint Daniel and the others' location. He immediately sent the details to Mitchell and called him, "They're in a karaoke bar. I've sent the location to your phone. Where are you now? I'll come with you."
"I'm at the office. Sister and the two kids are at home; don't worry about coming. I'll call Patrick and take a few people with me," Mitchell replied as he walked out of the JK Group building. The karaoke bar was located in a more seedy part of Horizon City, and it was unclear how they ended up there—it seemed like they had run into some local toughs.
"Alright, take a few extra people and call me if anything happens."
"Got it, Matthew."
Mitchell immediately contacted Patrick, who was still awake. After receiving the call, Patrick grabbed his keys and headed out. Mitchell gathered about a dozen men. The streets were almost empty that late, which made his heart race as he sped toward the karaoke bar. Upon arrival, Patrick made a tight stop in his car nearby.
"Jonah." Patrick had also rushed over after hearing about Daniel and Willow's trouble.
Mitchell nodded at him and led the group upstairs. Just as they entered the karaoke bar, a couple of shady-looking characters came up to stop them, speaking rudely, "What do you want? Sorry, but there are no rooms available. If you wanna sing, come back earlier."
Mitchell glanced at them, and in a blink, his men knocked the obstructing duo to the ground.
As the two lay on the floor groaning and shouting, "Who are you guys? Do you know whose turf this is? This is Evander's territory, and you dare cause trouble here..."
Mitchell spun around with a cold tone, one foot pressing down on one of the men's faces, "I'm curious to see how much clout this Evander of yours really has, daring to mess with my people!"
