Chapter 521 Playing Tricks

Willow was afraid that Elizabeth might get too angry and spill everything, so she quickly gave Elizabeth a look.

Although there weren't many people in the café, there were still a few unfamiliar faces. If things got out of hand, people might think they were bullying someone, especially since the other person was just an intern.

Elizabeth saw Willow's look and held back her words. She knew Willow's character; she would never flaunt that Mitchell was her husband and didn't like to show off.

Elizabeth also knew that Willow was trying to protect her. After all, as a senior employee and a department member, if she got into a fight over a few words, she would definitely face some consequences.

Savannah saw Elizabeth's momentum drop halfway through her sentence and was convinced she was just bluffing to scare her. She was more confident. During her time at the company, she had come to understand Elizabeth's personality which was carefree and straightforward. Such people were often naive and easily provoked into making mistakes.

Elizabeth was actually quite popular in the department because of her cheerful and easygoing nature. Both male and female colleagues liked to invite her to hang out.

Savannah, who was used to being the center of attention, didn't like her from the start. Now, only the other interns who joined with her were willing to hang out with her, while the other women in the department subtly avoided working with her.

She was aware of this but didn't think it was her fault. She believed Elizabeth was badmouthing her out of jealousy.

"Who's your husband? Some old geezer from a partner company?" Savannah said with a fake smile, trying to be disgusting.

This time, before Elizabeth could get angry, Willow stood up and sternly said, "You're so young, yet your mind is filled with such filth. Only someone as vile as you would think everyone else is the same."

Willow rarely got angry, but after being with Mitchell for so long, she had developed an imposing presence when she did.

Elizabeth watched her stand up and lecture Savannah, she really did have a bit of Mitchell's intimidating aura. It seemed that couples who spent a lot of time together started to resemble each other in many ways.

Savannah didn't expect Willow, who had seemed so easy to bully, to suddenly become so stern. She was taken aback by Willow's businesswoman-like aura and felt a bit panicked.

She stammered, "Why, why are you calling me vile? You're just mad because I exposed you."

Savannah's retort clearly lacked confidence, but she was still thinking that if she messed things up with the partner, she could only beg the manager for help.

Willow sat back down, returning to her previous gentle demeanor, as if she hadn't just been the one lecturing. She picked up her spoon and continued eating her cake, ignoring the people around her.

Elizabeth snorted and ignored them too, thinking that Savannah really lacked self-awareness. She had so many little schemes, yet she could say such brainless things. If she knew that the old man she was talking about was actually Mitchell, she might drop her jaw in shock.

Jenny saw that Elizabeth and Willow had no intention of continuing the conversation. Wanting to stay in the company, she couldn't afford to ruin her relationship with her seniors.

Unlike Savannah, she wasn't good at flattering the leaders and preferred to get along well with her colleagues. So she stood up and softly said to Savannah, "Savannah, let's go back. The manager's meeting might be over."

She was also reminding Savannah that the manager was in a meeting with Mitchell, and if the meeting was over, Mitchell would be back in his office.

Before coming to the café, Savannah had gone upstairs to find Mitchell and learned that he was in a meeting. She had deliberately checked a few meeting rooms and saw that Mitchell was in a meeting with several project leaders in their project's main conference room.

She even caught a glimpse of the big boss, Matthew Nelson. She had only seen him once; interns couldn't just go up to the top floor.

Matthew seemed very serious and strict, and she had heard from others that he had high standards. Savannah had enough self-awareness not to provoke him.

She glared at Willow and Elizabeth, then prepared to leave. But out of the corner of her eye, she saw their project manager walking into the café. Savannah was delighted and suddenly thought of a plan.

As she stood up, she deliberately spilled her coffee on Willow's clothes.

Willow exclaimed and stood up, and Elizabeth quickly stood up too, full of concern.

The sudden incident startled both of them.

Savannah pretended to panic and grabbed a napkin to help Willow wipe off the coffee.

Willow protected her belly with one hand and blocked Savannah's actions with the other, coldly saying, "No need."

Whether the girl did it on purpose or not, Willow had to be cautious around someone with such a vile mind. As a mother, she had the right to protect her child.

Elizabeth shook off her reverie and returned to her senses. She rushed to Savannah, yanked her away with great force, causing Savannah to fall to the ground.

She anxiously asked Willow, "Are you okay? Did you get burned? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

Elizabeth had no time to worry about Savannah.

Willow shook her head. She was just a bit startled by the suddenness of it all.

Fortunately, the coffee wasn't freshly brewed and had cooled down, so it only dirtied her clothes.

Elizabeth, relieved that Willow was okay, turned angrily to see Savannah lying on the ground, looking pitiful.

"Eliza, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to. My hand slipped while holding the coffee, and it accidentally spilled on her," Savannah said, starting to cry.

She had planned this well, intending to provoke Elizabeth in public and make it impossible for her to stay in the company.

With the manager present, she wanted him to see Elizabeth's true colors. She called her "Eliza" as if they were close, but she was thinking, 'You are just relying on your long tenure at the company. Drawing a blueprint? I can also do that.'
