Chapter 323 What's Your Relationship

The dishes were served one after another. Everyone was quite polite. Although Mitchell said he would treat everyone, they still adhered to the department's principle of thriftiness when ordering without going overboard. With the help of alcohol, everyone became more relaxed. Mitchell sat quietly on the side, hardly saying a word. Willow accidentally put a piece of cilantro in his bowl while picking out the food he liked.

Mitchell frowned slightly, "I don't eat cilantro."

Willow was taken aback and only noticed the cilantro she had just put in his bowl along with the duck intestines. Naturally, Willow picked up the cilantro from Mitchell's bowl and put it in her mouth, saying, "Cilantro is so delicious. I love it the most." Mitchell watched her happily eating, looking like it was really tasty. "I'll give it a try, too," he said. Willow was puzzled because she had already eaten it, but she found another piece and put it in his bowl.

Even Mitchell's eating manner was elegant, similar to eating Western food. After chewing on the cilantro for a while, he finally said, "Yes, not bad." Willow couldn't help but laugh at his effort to swallow it down. "If you don't like it, just don't eat it. Many people don't like cilantro, why force yourself to eat it?" she remarked.

Mitchell looked at her seriously and replied, "I want to try what you like." This sentence made Willow blush.

Everyone was enjoying themselves. Some stood up directly to start toasting. Fortunately, they were in a private room, so no one noticed their actions. The manager, clearly tipsy, came over and insisted on toasting Mitchell. Mitchell wasn't planning to drink, but it would be inappropriate to refuse a toast, so he had a drink with the manager. This set off a chain reaction, and colleagues who had hesitated before now came over with their glasses. Some employees who didn't interact much with Mitchell at work were initially a bit afraid of him because he was quite serious in the office, especially during work hours. Now, seeing the legendary Mr. Jonah as so approachable, they all came forward to toast Mitchell.

Mitchell could handle his alcohol quite well, but with so many people toasting him one after another, he started feeling a bit dizzy. Willow noticed his flushed face and slightly squinted eyes, realizing he might actually get drunk soon.

Fortunately, they could take a break after the first round of toasts. Mitchell sat quietly on the stool, not saying a word, looking very calm. Willow knew he was starting to feel the effects of the alcohol. Whenever he drank too much, he would become like this. Willow quickly started putting food in his bowl, as he hadn't eaten much before drinking. She was worried his stomach couldn't handle it. Soon, Mitchell's bowl was filled with food.

"Mitchell, eat something to line your stomach. Drinking on an empty stomach will make you uncomfortable later," Willow whispered to him. Mitchell enjoyed the attention, gazing at Willow with a silly smile, not even moving his fork to eat. Willow, feeling anxious, started feeding him directly. Mitchell obediently opened his mouth and ate, enjoying being fed by Willow. After finishing all the food in the bowl and even having an extra piece of bread, Willow figured he had eaten enough and started eating herself.

Everyone was in high spirits, the first round of drinks was finished, and the manager brought several bottles of beer. The second round of toasting began, even more intense than the first. People were getting excited, hierarchies were blurred, and a few guys were getting quite friendly with the manager, patting each other on the back. Some of them unsteadily approached Mitchell for a toast. Now that he was full and in a good mood, Mitchell accepted several more drinks in a row.

When the manager approached with another full glass of alcohol, Willow couldn't help but take it from him, saying, "Let me drink this for him. Let's give him a break. He might really get drunk if he drinks more." With a flushed face, the manager paused and looked at Willow, then at Mitchell, and slurred, "Willow, why are you only drinking for Mr. Jonah and not for us! Tell me, what's your relationship with Mr. Jonah?" Mitchell stood next to Willow, pulled her into his arms, and very seriously and affectionately said, "She's my wife!"

The whole room fell silent at his words.

One person who was pouring drinks didn't even notice the overflowing alcohol on the table. Everyone froze in various poses, rooted to the spot.

Willow, held by Mitchell, could only smile foolishly. After laughing, she explained very seriously, "See, I told you not to pour too much alcohol for Mr. Jonah. Now he's drunk and talking nonsense."

Mitchell was definitely drunk!

Absolutely drunk!

Willow's face was expressionless, but her heart was in turmoil, her heartbeat quickening. Willow felt embarrassed that just one sentence from Mitchell could excite her so much. Luckily, she had also had a bit to drink, so no one suspected why her face was probably red now.

Whether it was because of her sincere explanation, making it seem like there was nothing between her and Mr. Jonah, or because everyone was too drunk to think about it, no one doubted her words. After this little incident, everyone resumed having fun. They didn't disperse until nine o'clock, with Mitchell having had quite a bit to drink and feeling a bit unsteady on his feet. The manager had to be carried away by two male colleagues, completely drunk.

As everyone left in groups, the manager, being supported, reminded Willow to make sure Mitchell got home safely. "Willow, we entrust Mr. Jonah to you, I... I trust you." Willow was at a loss for words, nodding repeatedly.

After everyone had left, Mitchell and Willow stood on the roadside. Willow supported Mitchell and suggested, "Mitchell, how about we take a taxi home?" With a flushed face and the smell of alcohol all over him, Mitchell leaned on Willow and said in a childish tone, "Wife, I'm fine. Let's go home."

Feeling the alcohol on his breath as he spoke next to her ear, Willow shivered, almost losing her balance. Blushing, she quickly hailed a taxi, helped Mitchell in, and they went back to his apartment together.
