Chapter 119 Visiting His Office
Chapter 119 Visiting His Office
Matthew paused the meeting as soon as his phone buzzed on the edge of the table, quickly glancing at it. "Let's take a ten-minute break, folks. We'll continue shortly.”
He grabbed his phone and left the conference room.
The executives left in the room exchanged puzzled glances. It was unprecedented for Matthew to halt a meeting for a call. Previously, any disruption during his meetings would result in immediate consequences. He was known for being intensely focused, never allowing interruptions.
Now, a few experienced executives, observing that Brian was still present and had frequent interactions with Matthew, approached him to glean some information.
"Calvin, who's calling Matthew?" one asked.
Brian had been sitting close to Matthew and couldn't help but notice who the caller was, labeled, Sweetheart.
Only a call from the boss's wife could prompt him to interrupt such a crucial meeting.
Noticing his silence, the others continued to press for details, driven by their curiosity.
"Yeah, Calvin, the boss has been less caught up in company matters lately."
Brian's mouth twitched slightly, almost as if he wanted to say. 'Ha, so everyone has noticed the boss slipping out early and coming in late.'
Besides our boss's significant other, who else could make Matthew bend his own rules?" Brian nonchalantly delivered that surprising piece of information before getting up and heading to the pantry, leaving the rest of the group in a state of shock.
"Matthew tied the knot?
"No way, that explains why he's been so approachable lately. Joyous occasions definitely lift the spirits, right?"
The group buzzed with discussions, clearly surprised by the news.
Matthew, with his phone in hand, went back to his office.
"Sweetheart."
"Matthew, are you busy?"
"Not at all, what's up?"
When it came to major concerns, his wife always took priority. So Matthew readily declared his availability.
"Hmm.
"Is something wrong?" Matthew sensed Madison's hesitation and quickly grew concerned, his voice carrying a sense of urgency.
"Everything's fine. I was out checking out fabrics today and happened to be near your office, so I thought we could have lunch together.”
Matthew sighed with relief, overwhelmed by a surge of joy. It marked the first instance of Madison initiating a call to invite him for lunch. Of course, he conveniently overlooked the fact that she happened to be in the area and casually invited him for a midday meal.
"Sure, honey, are you coming over now? I'll send someone to pick you up; I've got a meeting soon."
"I'll head over after I'm done here. It should be about half an hour."
"Great, I'll have Ariel meet you downstairs, and you can wait for me in my office."
"Okay."
After ending the call, Matthew resumed his meeting, making a brief stop at Ariel's office as he passed by the secretary's desk.
