Chapter 294 Good Morning
Mitchell used his foot to push open the door, and once inside, he freed a hand to switch on the hallway light. Guided by its glow, he carefully made his way to the bed, where he gently placed Willow. The room was illuminated by the soft light from the hotel's windows, offering a clear view of both the room and the person lying in the bed.
Standing beside the bed, Mitchell was struck by how much Willow had grown. Willow murmured, "It's hot," and turned over. Mitchell hurried to turn on the air conditioning, setting it to the lowest setting. He then went to the bathroom, dampened a towel, and gently wiped her face. Tucking her in securely, he stood by the bed, silently watching as Willow slept peacefully.
After half an hour, seeing that she was comfortable and not in need of anything, he quietly left the room and returned to his own. Who would have thought that President Jonah, who usually valued every minute, would willingly spend time looking after Willow? Mitchell took a shower in his room, but still feeling uneasy, he went to the adjacent room. Aside from having kicked off the covers, the girl in the bed was sleeping soundly.
Mitchell moved a chair from the room and sat by the bed, keeping watch. Willow seemed to sense his presence and, breaking her peaceful slumber, softly said, "Thirsty." Mitchell fetched a bottle of mineral water from the table, sat by the bed, and gently helped her take a few sips. After she had enough, he carefully helped her lie back down. He felt relieved that he had come to check on her; otherwise, she would have been thirsty all night. Mitchell decided not to return to his room and instead lay down next to Willow.
The first morning light entered the room, and Willow slowly woke up. Rubbing her eyes, she sat up, feeling a bit uncomfortable. She remembered going to the beach with Madison and the others for a barbecue. The restaurant was great, and the sea breeze was refreshing. She had a few drinks but couldn't recall getting drunk. Looking down, she realized she was still wearing last night's clothes.
Willow was about to get up when she noticed Mitchell, who was still asleep by her bed. Completely bewildered, she couldn't understand why he was there. She tried to make sense of the situation, wondering why he was in her room, let alone sleeping by her bed. Willow looked at her clothes, still the same as last night, while Mitchell had changed. If he had gone back to his room to shower and change, why didn't he just sleep in his own bed?
Willow stole another glance at the sleeping Mitchell. His disheveled hair and peaceful expression made her envious. Mitchell stirred as she reached out to touch his face, causing her to retract her hand and pretend to be asleep quickly.
Mitchell had a restless night. Willow, though quiet, kept kicking the covers, so he spent the night tucking her in. He finally fell asleep just before dawn. Mitchell woke up feeling a bit stiff. He stretched his neck and saw that Willow was still sleeping peacefully, no longer kicking the covers. He got up to stretch his limbs, and just then, he heard Willow yawn and saw her slowly open her eyes.
Willow had been pretending to sleep, secretly watching Mitchell. She had planned to get up after he left but couldn't hold it any longer. She needed to use the bathroom. So, she pretended to yawn as if just waking up. There was a moment of awkwardness as their eyes met. Willow didn't have time to think about it and quickly got up to go to the bathroom. She hurriedly put on her slippers and rushed into the bathroom, saying, "I'll be right back, Mitchell."
Before Mitchell could react, he saw her disappear, leaving only the sound of the bathroom door closing. Willow spent more than twenty minutes in the bathroom, then washed her face and listened for any sounds outside. It was quiet, so Mitchell must have returned to his room. Willow gently opened the door, and seeing no one, she walked out. Just as she emerged, she saw Mitchell coming in from the balcony.
In fact, Mitchell had seen all of Willow's actions in the bathroom. The frosted glass door had reflected her movements. So, he hid on the balcony before she came out, afraid that she would realize he had seen everything. Seeing Mitchell suddenly appear from the balcony, Willow reflexively raised her hand and waved, "Hi, Mitchell, good morning." She immediately felt uneasy and regretted her words. What had she just said?
Mitchell stood in front of her, backlit, with a faint smile on his face. His deep eyes fixed on her, he softly replied, "Good morning."
