Chapter 305 Jimmy Meets Willow
After Mitchell left, Willow stood still in place, wondering if Daniel's plan had succeeded. Mitchell was truly upset because she had kissed him. Perhaps he actually disliked her kisses. Today, he came to question her, forgiving her unintentional actions for the first time. This time, since she remembered, he must have thought she was intentionally repeating the same mistake. Well, this time, she should probably give up completely.
Mitchell arranged the plane tickets, leaving Willow's phone number. When the tickets were booked, she received a message. The next morning flight had both of them up early, sporting dark circles under their eyes. They didn't speak much on the way. It was a sudden decision to return, and both seemed to be in a bad mood. After arriving in Horizon City, Willow realized belatedly that neither of them had informed anyone about their return.
After getting off the plane, Mitchell escorted Willow back to her apartment. Standing at the apartment entrance, Willow paused, "Mitchell, I'll go up first." Mitchell nodded, watching her enter before turning to leave.
Instead of returning to his own apartment, Mitchell went straight to the villa. He spent the whole day there. Father Jonah and Mother Jonah were unaware of his return until they returned in the evening when the cleaning lady mentioned Mitchell was in his room. Mother Jonah didn't know he had just returned from a seaside vacation, assuming he was busy with work. Since Daniel was also busy and hadn't returned, Father Jonah and Mother Jonah didn't find anything unusual, just knowing Mitchell was at home. They called Daniel to inform her about the family dinner that evening.
Willow, upon returning, went straight to bed like Mitchell, lying there until evening. Then she received a call from Jimmy, stating he had something important to discuss and asked her to meet him at A University in the evening. Willow initially didn't want to go. Since confirming Mitchell's lack of interest, she hadn't smiled, feeling a heavy burden in her heart, making it hard to breathe.
As she lay on the bed in the afternoon, she contemplated resigning. She truly didn't want to work in the same office as Mitchell anymore. Seeing him every day, she knew she could never let go. Alternatively, she thought about going to her parents and finding a low-paying job in a small town, enough to support herself.
However, the thought of leaving Horizon City, Matthew's family, and her friends made her hesitate. After much deliberation, she decided either to quit working at JK Group and find a job elsewhere, avoiding Mitchell deliberately. Horizon City was large enough that they might not cross paths frequently.
Finally, she decided to go out for a walk. Uncertain about Jimmy's intentions, attending A University seemed a good choice. The campus scenery always exuded youthful vibes.
In the evening, Willow got up without eating and headed out. Opting not to drive, she leisurely walked to the subway station, taking the train to A University. She ate a bowl of beef noodles at a small shop near the entrance, relishing the familiar taste after a long time. The boss recognized her and served her extra beef.
After finishing the noodles, she entered the university campus. Though it was dark, the campus was lively. Students were playing basketball under the lights, some gathered on the soccer field, and couples and friends were chatting or playing games. It was the vibrant atmosphere of a university night, filled with youthful energy.
During her time at A University, Willow had always envied couples watching stars together on the playground at night. However, Mitchell had long graduated by then, and her focus had always been on him. She never paid attention to boys her age, always running off to find Mitchell whenever she had free time, wholeheartedly devoted to him.
Thus, she never had the chance to lie on the grass with someone she liked, watching the stars.
As Willow reached the soccer field, Jimmy called, "Willow, have you arrived?"
"Yes, I just reached the soccer field. What's the matter you want to discuss?" Willow asked, walking slowly while on the call.
"Come to the activity center. You'll find out when you arrive," Jimmy's voice sounded cheerful and excited.
After hanging up, Willow, feeling down, turned back toward the activity center. Along the way, she received a call from Daniel. As she answered, Daniel's voice came through, "Willow, has my brother and you returned to Horizon City? When did you come back so quickly?" Daniel had been busy in the afternoon and missed her mom's call. Upon seeing the message on Facebook about dinner, she headed back home after finishing work, only to find Mitchell at home!
Mitchell had a stern face all evening, even during dinner with the family, appearing distracted and unresponsive. Daniel was concerned and couldn't wait to call Willow to inquire about the situation.
"Yes, we came back this morning. I'm sorry, Daniel, I forgot to tell you," Willow's tone was somewhat subdued, indicating her low spirits. Daniel, feeling uneasy, asked, "Willow, are you okay? What's going on?"
"I'm fine. We just came back after having some fun, and Mitchell isn't feeling well," Willow tried to sound casual as she explained.
"What's really going on, Willow? Do you think I'd believe such a lame excuse?" Daniel didn't mention Mitchell's condition, clearly sensing something was amiss. She couldn't understand what had happened between the two.
"Just that I got drunk and kissed Mitchell, and he got mad," Willow finally muttered.
"That's it? My brother got mad over that?" Daniel raised her voice, puzzled by Mitchell's reaction despite benefiting from the kiss.
At the entrance of the activity center, Willow said, "I'll talk to you later. I'm hanging up now."
"Don't hang up. We haven't finished talking. Why the rush?" Daniel hurriedly stopped her, "Are you outside?"
"I'm at A University. Jimmy said he needed to see me," Willow replied.
"What could Jimmy possibly want that you had to come in person?" Daniel was a bit displeased that Willow was about to end the call for Jimmy's sake.
"I just wanted to go out for a walk anyway, so I came over," Willow explained before both of them ended the call.
Daniel lay on her bed, holding her phone, feeling increasingly confused. She rolled over, sat up, and rushed to Mitchell's room.
