Chapter 224 Everyone Goes Together
At 6 pm, the meeting in the JK Group conference room came to an end. The leaders left, leaving a few employees still sitting at their desks. Patrick shut his laptop and proposed, "How about we hit a bar since nobody's in a rush to get home? There's plenty of time for some fun."
Matthew held the files on his desk and replied, "I'm not going. I'm going home for dinner."
As soon as Patrick heard this, he quickly approached and said, "Matthew, why don't we go to your place then? You recently moved back to a villa, right? Plus, it's spacious there."
Matthew paused and raised an eyebrow, looking at Patrick coldly. "No," he said firmly before lowering his head to continue organizing the files. Patrick didn't expect Matthew to refuse so directly. He just wanted a free meal. Since losing his memory, Matthew had lost his former charm and seemed even more indifferent than before.
Liam looked at Patrick's unhappy expression and stifled a smile. "You know Matthew's family is there, but you still want to join in the fun."
"We'll just add one more person and more tableware. There are already so many people anyway," Patrick said shamelessly.
At this moment, Matthew had finished organizing the files on his desk. He looked up and said in a very casual tone, "I'm starting my vacation tomorrow. I might come back in two weeks."
Upon hearing Matthew's announcement of going on vacation for half a month, Patrick became excited. "Matthew, you're going too far! You may have lost your memory, but that's not a reason for you to not work!" Patrick said passionately, though Matthew going on vacation or not had little impact on him as most of the work was being done by Mitchell.
"Are you really not going to resist? Matthew just came back to work today, and now he's going on vacation after only one day. Take it from me. You should be angry," Patrick encouraged Liam. Mitchell glared at him but ignored him. Matthew had just returned, and he had been seriously injured in the explosion before. He had initially thought that Matthew should take some more time off before returning to work.
Victor, on the other hand, thought that Matthew might not be feeling well. "Matthew, are you feeling unwell?"
Matthew looked at his brothers and remembered Madison telling him that they had all grown up together and had a deep bond. So, he didn't reject anyone from the bottom of his heart, and he could also feel their concern for him.
"No, his body has recovered well. He went to the hospital for a check-up after returning. He has other plans tomorrow. Sister's friend has just developed a resort, so they're going to go there for a few days and then visit Rivertown Bay," Matthew explained. Madison mentioned this when she called him at noon, wanting the whole family to go on a trip before going to Rivertown Bay. The resort is in the village where Madison used to live, and she wanted to revisit it. Matthew naturally supported his wife's decision unconditionally.
Upon hearing about the vacation resort, Patrick immediately raised his hand and said, "I want to go too."
Matthew hesitated for a moment and then said, "Sure."
Liam, hearing that there was a chance to join, said, "Matthew, this isn't fair. You're only taking Patrick. We all want to go as well."
Victor and Mitchell remained silent. Both were workaholics who rarely took breaks or went out, so they didn't really care either way.
Matthew glanced at Liam, raising an eyebrow. "Then we'll all go together." With Matthew's statement, no one had any objections. They agreed to take a two-day break and rest.
"I'll message Willow and Daniel," Patrick immediately took out his phone and messaged Willow and Daniel on Facebook.
Victor asked from the side, "Are we still going to the bar tonight? If not, I'll go back to the hotel."
"We're definitely going. Matthew can't join, but the rest of us can," Patrick, ever the social butterfly, was still keen on hitting the bar that evening.
"I won't go. Mom wants me to come home for dinner. You guys go and charge it to my tab," Mitchell said. He had just finished a meeting when his mom called, and after hanging up, he was bombarded with messages on Facebook demanding he come home for dinner.
"Your words are enough. After all, it's always on your tab," Patrick said with a smile, typing on Facebook as he spoke.
Mitchell didn't bother responding to him. He had to go home and deal with his mom and didn't even know what it was about. He packed up his notebook and prepared to leave. "I'm leaving. Let the group chat know where to meet tomorrow."
Matthew followed behind him, saying, "I'm leaving too."
The two of them headed toward the elevator hall. Matthew didn't return to his office; he intended to take the documents home to look over. Even on vacation, he couldn't completely ignore company matters.
Mitchell continued to work, not expecting anything out of the ordinary to happen. Suddenly, he looked up and saw Willow standing by the elevator entrance. He was surprised to see her, as she usually left work earlier than him. He greeted her, and she asked if they had any plans for the evening. Mitchell, wanting to include Willow, suggested they all have dinner at his house since Quentin, Hannah, and Willow's sister had been talking about her lately. Willow, having no other plans, agreed.
Willow then asked if the plan for tomorrow's outing was confirmed, as she had yet to take the day off. Matthew, with a playful tone, remarked that since the leaders were all going, she didn't need to take leave. Mitchell chimed in, saying he would inform their manager about their absence. Willow initially thought they were joking, as they used to work tirelessly without taking breaks. However, when she heard it from Mitchell himself, she couldn't believe he was actually going on vacation too.
Mitchell had always been dedicated to work, often resorting to sleeping in his office when things got busy. So, Willow couldn't help but feel a bit shocked to hear that he was also going on vacation. Despite the initial disbelief, she started to look forward to the following day, excited about the prospect of spending time with her colleagues outside of work.
