Chapter 540 The Final Conclusion (Part 2)
Danielle and Ophelia arrived at the resort around 9:00 p.m..
After finishing today's shoot, Ophelia's agent, Shirley, knowing she was going to meet Liam, gave her two days off.
Ophelia had already planned to stay at the resort and relax for these two days.
On the way to there, Danielle was whining the whole time when she found out Ophelia had two days off because she herself only had one day.
That was how it was in the entertainment industry. Those who were truly talented were always working hard. Falling asleep on your feet was very common, and sometimes, when rushing to meet deadlines, it was common not to lie in bed for days.
Of course, they all understood that only those with real talent could go far.
The driver parked the car in the resort's parking lot.
Although the streetlights were bright, the two of them still couldn't find their way to meet up with everyone after getting out of the car.
Just as Ophelia was about to call Liam, her phone rang. It was Liam calling.
"Hey, have you guys made it?" Liam's familiar deep voice came through the phone.
Ophelia couldn't help but smile as she answered, "Yes, we just got off the car. I was about to call you. It seems different from last time. We can't find the way."
"Where are you? In the parking lot?" Liam immediately asked.
"Hold on. Let me check." Ophelia held the phone in one hand and walked outside.
She saw a sign that said "Parking Area A" and told Liam, "We're in Parking Area A."
Liam patiently waited for her answer and then said, "Alright, stay right there. I'm coming."
After hanging up, Mitchell asked, "Did Danielle come along, too?"
"Yes, I'm going to pick them up. They're in Parking Area A and can't find their way here," Liam said as he stood up, grabbed his jacket, and then turned back to take Patrick's jacket from the chair as well.
At this time of night, it was getting cooler, and the temperature in the suburbs was a few degrees lower.
Liam was worried that Ophelia might not be dressed warmly enough, and since Danielle was also there, he brought two jackets.
Parking Area A was actually just next to the lawn, about a five or six-minute walk away. So Ophelia felt like she had just hung up when she saw Liam walking over.
Danielle enthusiastically waved and shouted, "Liam, we're here."
Liam looked up and saw the two girls standing under the light, each with a suitcase, wearing thin clothes, and spinning around in circles.
Liam quickened his pace, handed them the jackets, and said, "I knew you wouldn't be wearing jackets."
Ophelia and Danielle took the jackets without hesitation.
Danielle smiled and said, "Thanks, Liam. We came straight from the set and didn't even have dinner. We just ate a piece of bread on the way. We didn't think to bring jackets, but don't worry, we have them in our suitcases."
Ophelia also smiled. "I didn't expect it to be so much colder here than in Horizon City."
Liam pulled one suitcase with each hand and walked behind them.
Ophelia and Danielle walked arm in arm in front, and the streetlights stretched their shadows long.
Liam looked at Ophelia's back and silently smiled.
After bringing them to where everyone was sitting, he put their suitcases in the tent and went to the barbecue area to get them some freshly grilled food.
When he returned, Patrick teased, "Liam, you seem so energetic now that Ophelia is here. You were sitting still in the chair earlier. I thought you were asleep, but you were just waiting for someone."
Liam kicked him. "You're asking for it."
Ophelia, feeling a bit embarrassed, lowered her head and pretended not to hear, quietly eating her skewer.
With Danielle's arrival, the atmosphere became much livelier. Patrick had been running around with the two kids, but now that everyone was here, they gathered around the table to drink. Except for Willow and Madison, who drank juice, everyone else raised their glasses.
Rachel and Nicholas came over to greet them and chatted for a while.
Rachel, thinking about the house, raised her glass to Matthew and Madison, "Madison, Mr. Nelson, thank you."
Rachel's eyes reddened a bit as she spoke.
Nicholas also stood up and filled his glass. "Thank you, Madison. Thank you, Mr. Nelson."
Matthew rarely joked, "That's Rachel's pre-wedding property. You see, we're all on the bride's side."
Everyone cheered, saying they were all on the bride's side, and Rachel was so moved she almost cried.
"Got it," Nicholas said, hugging Rachel and smiling.
Madison asked if Esme had gone to rest.
Rachel said she had just gone back.
Since there weren't enough tent rooms, the older folks were arranged to stay in the resort's hotel rooms.
Madison had brought Joy, Matthew, and the two kids to meet Esme. They had only seen each other in photos and videos before, so Esme was thrilled to see Joy and the two kids in person.
Matthew, knowing how Esme had helped Madison before, stayed by Madison's side, politely greeting and patiently waiting for them to chat.
Esme couldn't help but praise him in the end.
Because of Joy and Mikey, they didn't drink for long.
Around 10:00 p.m., they called it a night.
Joy was happy as long as she had something to eat, and Mikey was well-behaved, not crying at all.
Quentin and Hannah, tired from running around, sat next to them, playing with the little ones and making them giggle.
After the gathering, everyone went back to rest or continued their walks.
Rachel and Nicholas, the newlyweds, also went to rest.
Madison and Matthew's family naturally went back to their tent.
Joy was almost asleep, her eyes closing, while Quentin and Hannah were still excited after a whole day of fun.
Willow and Mitchell also went back with Mikey, who had fallen asleep in his dad's arms after a day of play.
On the way back to the tent, Danielle received a call from Cheryl, who demanded, "Where did you go? I didn't see you come out of the set."
"I left early for the wedding," Danielle said, a bit puzzled.
"You left? Why didn't you tell me?" Cheryl raised her voice.
"Why should I tell you?" Danielle blurted out, but the call was already disconnected.
"Ridiculous," Danielle muttered, putting away her phone and humming a song as she walked to her tent.
Patrick and Victor shared a tent with two levels.
Patrick said he didn't want to sleep alone and insisted on having Victor with him, "Victor, you used to sleep with me."
Victor glared at him. "When did I ever sleep with you?"
"When you came back to Horizon City, didn't you stay at my place? Not the same bed, of course," Patrick said with a smile.
Victor ignored him and kept walking. He didn't mind sharing a tent with Patrick, so Patrick happily tagged along.
Ophelia, with a flushed face from drinking, smiled and pulled Liam, saying she wanted to walk on the lawn.
Liam initially wanted to say it was late and they should rest, but before he could, she had already walked ahead. He quickly caught up, took her hand, and resigned himself to accompanying her on a late-night walk on the lawn.
After a while, Ophelia suddenly sat down on the grass, looked up at Liam, and giggled, "Look, the moon is following me."
Liam quickly pulled her up, muttering, "The grass is damp at night. Get up."
Then, not wanting to argue with a drunk person, he carried her back.
Ophelia felt dizzy, and her stomach churned. She held it in until they got into the tent, then rushed to the bathroom to throw up.
Watching her, Liam felt a pang of heartache.
One by one, the lights in the tents went out. The night was still young, and so were they.
They didn't need to worry about the long road ahead. They were in this together.
Love or friendship, it didn't matter. They had each other.
