Chapter 277 I Have Someone I Like

Willow was holding the egg Mother Jonah had just handed her when Mitchell's words caused it to slip from her grasp. He picked it up for her and asked, "Do you still want it?" Willow shook her head, "No, thank you," and Mitchell placed the egg in his own bowl.

Daniel intrigued, set down his utensils and assumed the role of an eager spectator, his face a picture of curiosity.

Mother Jonah's emotions, stirred by Mitchell's words, surged. "What do you mean it's not appropriate? Weren't you the one who said she was nice after meeting her for the first time? And you all went on vacation together, didn't you have a good time? Laura didn't find fault with you, and now you're saying it's not appropriate. Mitchell, you can't go back on your word. I've already discussed your engagement with Laura's mother. If you say it's not appropriate now, where does that leave me?" Mother Jonah's voice was filled with frustration as she reprimanded Mitchell.

Unfazed, Mitchell responded, "I'll explain things to her parents to save you from embarrassment."

"Is it just a matter of embarrassment?" Mother Jonah was angry. She had thought her son had finally come to his senses and was ready for a relationship. Being in his thirties and never having been in a relationship, she couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with him.

Now, she no longer had to wonder. She felt the evidence was clear and realized she might never have a grandchild. Mother Jonah stared at Mitchell with a probing gaze. Mitchell, composed, finished his eggs. "Mom, please don't look at me like that. There's nothing wrong with me, neither physically nor in terms of my orientation."

Daniel, who had just taken a sip of milk, nearly choked. She silently gave Mitchell a thumbs up. Willow was also taken aback; she didn't expect Mitchell to be so straightforward.

Mother Jonah awkwardly chuckled, feeling that her thoughts had been read, "That's not what I meant. You're in your thirties, and you've never brought a girl home. I'm just a little anxious."

"I do like someone," Mitchell interjected before Mother Jonah could finish. It was like dropping a bombshell for Mother Jonah.

Mother Jonah was completely stunned for a full minute before regaining her composure. "Really? Who is she? What's her name? When are you bringing her home?" Mother Jonah bombarded Mitchell with a series of excited questions, then turned to Daniel and Willow, "Do you know who this girl is? Have you seen her? What does she look like?" She thought that the two of them, being close to Mitchell, must know.

Daniel shook her head, indicating that she had no idea. She was busy every day and didn't spend much time with Mitchell. She hadn't even had a chance to look at the photos in her brother's wallet. Then she stole a glance at Willow, who was sitting next to her and looked at Mitchell. She really wanted to snatch Mitchell's wallet and see whose photo it was.

Willow also shook her head, indicating that she was clueless. She knew there was someone, but she didn't know who. And she couldn't help but feel that Mitchell's gaze was always on her when he spoke, making her too nervous to look at him.

Mother Jonah didn't get any useful information, so she turned back to Mitchell and grabbed his arm, pressing him for answers, "Son, who is this girl? Tell me, do you have a photo? Let me see it first."

Mitchell glanced at Willow, then whispered, "I haven't won her over yet."

"Son, do I know that person?" Daniel couldn't help but ask Mitchell.

Willow felt her heart inexplicably tense.

Mitchell looked at the three of them, all staring at him. Mother Jonah and Daniel were full of anticipation, while Willow looked nervous. Mitchell took the last sip of his milk, put down the cup, and stood up. "No comment."

Mitchell walked to the front door, and seeing Willow still sitting there, he couldn't help but sigh softly. "Willow, let's go. We'll be late if we don't leave now." With that, he walked out of the door.

Willow quickly got up. "I'm coming," she said, then turned to Mother Jonah. "Auntie, I'll leave now. I'll come to see you next time."

Mother Jonah also stood up and held Willow's arm. "All right. Willow, keep an eye out and let me know if there's any news about the girl Mitchell likes."

"Okay." Willow nodded, then waved to Daniel. "Daniel, I'm leaving." And she quickly walked out.

At the gate, Mitchell's car had already been driven out of the garage and was parked outside. Willow hurried over, opened the car door, and got in.

The morning traffic was a bit congested, with frequent stops and starts, so the car was moving slowly. Willow sat in the passenger seat, sitting straight and still looking ahead like a well-behaved elementary school student.

Mitchell found her cute, and his smile grew. Willow felt that Mitchell seemed to be in a very good mood. She turned her head to look at his smiling face, probably thinking about the girl he liked. Suddenly, she felt a little lost, a faint sadness welling up in her heart, feeling dejected, with a slight downturn of her mouth and a shrug of her shoulders.

Seeing her sudden change in mood, Mitchell didn't know what had happened. "What's wrong? Are you unhappy?"

Willow forced a smile. "No, maybe I didn't sleep well last night. I'm a little tired," she explained.

Who knew that Mitchell would ask her, "Why didn't you sleep well last night?" and deliberately emphasize the words "last night."

Willow had already been willing to forget about the little accident last night quickly, but she didn't expect Mitchell to bring it up again. She thought of the "accidental kiss" in the middle of the night and couldn't help but blush, trying to keep her voice steady as she answered, "Maybe I ate too much shrimp." Mitchell looked at her flustered appearance and nodded, "Yes, I didn't sleep well either, probably because I ate too much shrimp."

Willow lowered her head and didn't dare to say more. She always felt that Mitchell was now unpredictable, always saying things that could be misunderstood. Clearly, she had already decided to give up, but she would be influenced by a few words from him, feeling as if she could still like him. But he already had a girl he liked. She didn't like this feeling, and she felt like she was no longer herself.
