Chapter 428 Going to Rome Together
Mitchell's eyes sparkled brightly. He smiled and repeated, "I'll take you to Maple City for a few days."
Willow smiled, her heart filled with anticipation. Then she suddenly sat up in bed, staring at him in a daze. "But I only took a week off."
Mitchell, half amused and half exasperated, pulled her into his arms and said with a smirk, "I'm right here. No need to take any more time off. I'll call your manager tomorrow."
Willow had always been such a rule-follower.
Only then did she relax and lie back down, smiling as she said, "Mitchell, does this count as using connections? No, it should be more like an inside deal."
She laughed at her own words.
Mitchell was amused by her quirky thoughts and gently tapped her forehead. "Stop overthinking it. Go to sleep."
She stuck her tongue out at him with a smile.
After things quieted down, the two of them soon fell asleep.
The next day, Willow and Mitchell invited Lisa, Karen, and the newlyweds Amanda and Rex to dinner. Karen and Lisa had even postponed their return trips by a day just for this dinner.
The restaurant was chosen by Lisa and the others. Instead of opting for a local specialty restaurant in Emerald Isle City, they chose a Mexican restaurant, reminiscing about their college days in Horizon City when they loved eating at the barbecue and Mexican places near campus.
The two men had no objections, but Rex couldn't handle spicy food, and Willow knew Mitchell preferred milder flavors, so the ladies thoughtfully ordered some less spicy dishes.
Everyone had a great time.
Lisa, having gotten drunk the previous night, didn't dare drink again, and Karen had an early morning class the next day, so she also refrained.
Mitchell ordered a few bottles of fruit wine, and the remaining four each had one bottle. Since it was their last dinner together, Willow and her friends felt a bit reluctant to part. They teased Willow, asking when she and Mitchell would get married and to let them know early.
Before Willow could answer, Mitchell smirked and said, "Sure, we'll definitely let everyone know early."
His confident tone made it seem like they had already set a date.
Willow smiled at him without saying a word.
The future held many uncertainties, but she would trusted Mitchell to handle everything..
Maple City was the capital of Country Y, located in Southern Europe with a Mediterranean climate, making it very suitable for travel even in winter.
Although Mitchell hadn't spent as much time there as Victor, during the early stages of their business expansion abroad, he often flew there, especially when Willow had just started college, so she rarely saw him.
Therefore, he was quite familiar with Country Y and could even speak fluent local language, making him the perfect tour guide for Willow. They booked a flight from Emerald Isle City to Maple City at around 1:00 p.m., and after nearly twelve hours in the air, they finally arrived in Maple City, where it was only about 7:00 p.m. local time.
It was Willow's first time on such a long flight, but with the comfort of first-class, including lie-flat beds, internet access, and delicious meals, she found it far from exhausting. She only slept for a short while and spent the rest of the time feeling excited and full of anticipation.
After the plane landed at Maple City Airport, Victor personally drove to pick them up and took them to the hotel.
The hotel was their usual base during business trips to Maple City.
Matthew and Madison had also stayed here during their last visit.
After checking into the hotel, it was already quite late.
Mitchell turned to Victor and said, "Victor, you don't need to stay with us. Go home and get some rest. We'll just have dinner at the hotel restaurant tonight."
"Yeah, Victor, go get some rest," Willow echoed.
Victor looked up at the two of them and nodded. "Alright, I'll head back then. I'll come pick you up tomorrow morning to go to the office."
Since Mitchell had frequently visited Country Y before, he was quite familiar with the place, and Victor left without worry. He used to stay in hotels long-term, but eventually got tired of it and bought a small apartment near the office for some peace and quiet.
After Victor left, Mitchell took Willow to the hotel's Western restaurant for dinner.
The restaurant was located on the top floor, offering a panoramic view of Maple City's nightscape. The decor was luxurious and romantic, with a red rose on each table. Most of the diners were couples or married pairs.
Entering the restaurant, Mitchell held her hand as they walked in. The waiter led them to their table, and he smiled at her, pulling out her chair like a gentleman and inviting her to sit.
Willow felt like she was the heroine in a movie or a princess in a fairy tale, with him as her knight.
With top-quality steak paired with premium red wine and the night view outside the window, Willow felt like she was indulging in true luxury. Looking at Mitchell's familiar face through the wine glass, with multiple overlapping images, she felt almost intoxicated.
However, she didn't dare drink too much because Victor was coming to pick them up early the next morning to go to the office. So after enjoying the romantic dinner, she followed Mitchell back to their room to rest.
The next morning, Victor arrived early and took them to JK Group's branch office in Maple City. The person who had come with Mitchell to take over was staying there this week to get familiar with the branch's operations.
However, the branch's business was extensive, and it was clear that it wouldn't be easy to get up to speed quickly. So Mitchell would stay for the week to help him understand the business before handing him over to Victor.
Willow toured the Maple City branch with Mitchell, and then Mitchell asked Victor to arrange for someone to take her back to the hotel to rest while he stayed to work.
She knew Mitchell had a lot on his plate, so she didn't make a fuss. Once back at the hotel, she stayed put, as she wasn't familiar with Maple City and didn't dare to go out alone. Besides, she knew from the news that the security abroad wasn't as good as back home, so she understood it was best not to wander around.
She ordered room service for lunch and ate in her room. In the evening, she received a call from Mitchell saying he would be back late and that she should have dinner without waiting for him.
She found a TV series to watch in her hotel room and didn't feel like going out, so she ordered room service for dinner as well.
Feeling sleepy from watching TV, she hadn't waited for Mitchell to return and decided to take a shower and go to bed. Half-asleep, she heard the door open.
Being a light sleeper, she woke up immediately and saw Mitchell walking in.
With a hoarse voice, she said, "Mitchell, you're back."
