Chapter 401 Pregnant Again
In the end, they didn't make it to the hospital. Matthew endured a night of agony, staying by Madison's side with his eyes wide open. As soon as Madison woke up the next morning, the first thing he did was urge her to take the test.
"Madison, you're awake? Can you take the test now?" His voice sounded hoarse from lack of sleep. Madison slowly opened her eyes and turned to look at him. Seeing the dark circles under his eyes, she couldn't help but ask, "Matthew, did you stay up all night?"
"I couldn't sleep," Matthew said, looking down at her.
Madison quickly got out of bed, took the pregnancy test, and went to the bathroom. If she didn't give him an answer soon, Matthew probably wouldn't be able to sleep at all. Watching Madison walk into the bathroom, Matthew got up and stood blankly by the bathroom door, his palms sweating with nervousness.
When Madison came out of the bathroom holding a positive pregnancy test, she smiled and handed it to Matthew. He took it dumbfoundedly and asked, "Madison, what does this mean?"
Madison, feeling a bit shy, looked at his confused expression.
Matthew's eyes lit up, and he couldn't hide his joy. He raised his voice a bit and asked, "You're pregnant, right?" Madison nodded gently. "Yes."
After getting the confirmation, Matthew took several minutes to react. He picked Madison up and started spinning around, completely ecstatic. Then he carefully put her down, squatted, and pressed his ear to Madison's still-flat belly, saying gently, "Baby, I'm your daddy."
He couldn't help but recall their honeymoon week when they were inseparable and made love frequently. The baby must have been conceived then.
Standing up, he looked at Madison with deep affection and said softly, "Honey, thank you."
Quentin and Hannah heard Matthew's voice and ran in. Hannah asked, "Daddy, what are you and Mummy doing? We heard your voice from outside."
Matthew picked up Quentin and Hannah at the same time. Quentin, being a boy, felt a bit embarrassed and struggled slightly, but he actually liked being held by Matthew. Matthew kissed Quentin and Hannah on each cheek and said with a beaming smile, "Quentin, Hannah, you're going to have a baby brother or sister soon."
The two kids' eyes lit up at the same time, and they both asked, "Really?" Then they looked at Madison. Madison, looking at her two adorable children, smiled and nodded. "Yes."
They both started clapping their hands. "Great! I hope it's a girl, just as cute as me," Hannah said eagerly.
"I hope it's a girl, too. I'll definitely protect her," Quentin said.
"I also hopes it's a girl." Matthew pondered, 'Who wouldn't love a sweet little princess?'
Madison looked at the three of them with gentle eyes. She loved both boys and girls as long as they were healthy and happy. After all, they were all her and Matthew's precious babies.
Matthew shared the news of Madison's pregnancy in the group chat, and he immediately received calls of congratulations and well-wishes. Once his friends knew, Willow and the others naturally found out, too. Matthew received a call from Mitchell, and Madison immediately got a call from Willow.
"Madison, you're pregnant? That's wonderful. Where are you now? I'll come see you," Willow said, ready to rush over to Madison, but Matthew refused. He planned to take Madison to the hospital for a check-up and told them to visit another day.
After the call, they took the two kids to the hospital. Matthew carefully helped Madison into the front passenger seat and gently buckled her seatbelt, afraid of hurting her belly accidentally. After securing the seatbelt, he leaned down to kiss her mouth before closing the door. The two kids climbed into the car and sat in the back obediently. Once he confirmed they were seated properly, Matthew got into the driver's seat.
The check-up was relatively simple, just a blood test. The results came back quickly, confirming Madison was six weeks pregnant and the baby was developing well. The doctor also gave some precautions, which Matthew meticulously noted down in his memo app and asked the doctor repeatedly about anything he didn't understand.
Fortunately, they were somewhat prepared this time, and since Madison had given birth before, she knew a few things. So, after their honeymoon, Madison had already started taking supplement.
The doctor smiled and said to Madison , "Your husband is very attentive. I've seen many pregnant women, but it's rare to see a husband so careful with his wife. Lastly, no intercourse for the first three months. You must observe this."
Matthew was slightly taken aback, then nodded and noted it down in his memo app. Madison blushed.
After getting the confirmation from the doctor, Matthew called William to share the great news. Madison also posted the news in their family group chat. William was so excited that he could barely speak coherently. He immediately ordered them to move to Nelson Mansion. Nancy and Gerald, upon seeing the news, called right away, giving Madison a lot of advice on what to watch out for during pregnancy. Madison just kept smiling and saying, "Okay." After advising Madison, they asked to speak to Matthew to give him a thorough briefing. Matthew, like Madison, listened attentively and responded seriously. Nancy and Gerald still seemed worried and said they would book a flight to Horizon City immediately to take care of Madison in person.
Madison quickly stopped them, feeling bad about them traveling so much. She persuaded them by saying they would move to Nelson Mansion soon, so there was no need to worry. Nancy and Gerald finally gave up the idea of coming immediately but planned to visit after several months. Although they weren't coming right away, Nancy and Gerald started a massive shopping spree, buying all sorts of pregnancy supplements and sending them to Madison.
Just after hanging up with her parents, Madison received a call from Matthew. Hank, seeing the good news in the group chat, called right away to check on her. He mentioned he would be in Horizon City for business next week and would visit Madison. Hearing that Hank was coming, Madison was naturally delighted.
Madison gently placed her hand on her belly, reminiscing about her first meeting with Matthew in a hospital. The wind was soft on that sunny day. The clouds drifted, and the sunset was stunning. Everything was just perfect. She watched him push the door open and walk in from the light. That fleeting glance left an unforgettable impression.
At this moment, she felt only gratitude.
In the days to come, they would be by each other's side.
