Chapter 335 Overtime Often
After getting the confirmation again, Amy almost exploded on the spot, almost screaming in the office. She struggled to control herself, her voice trembling as she spoke, "Are you sure, absolutely sure you didn't see it wrong?"
Young Girl nodded. How could Mr. Jonah's face be wrong, and it happened in Mr. Jonah's office.
Amy hurriedly pulled Young Girl, her gossip-filled eyes shining, "Who is the girl? It shouldn't be Laura. I saw her leave. Who else went to Mr. Jonah's office?" Amy speculated and analyzed as she spoke. Young Girl shook her head, "I don't know who it is, I didn't see."
"What do you mean? Didn't you say you saw it?" Amy instantly became excited.
"I only saw Mitchell pressing someone on the sofa, I only saw four legs, didn't see the face," Young Girl said with a hint of grievance.
"Pressed on the sofa, is that... exciting?" Amy completely lost her composure. Now that she had the latest news in hand, she absolutely couldn't let it leak out. She coughed lightly and admonished, "This matter, only you and I know. You can't tell a third person, continue to work as usual, pretend you didn't see anything." After saying that, she walked away without looking back. Only she knew how excited she was inside. Who on earth was in Mr. Jonah's office? She was so curious who was involved with Mr. Jonah.
Young Girl nodded blankly, "Okay, Amy." Then she quickly went back to her workstation to work. She would keep her mouth shut as long as she could continue working and not get fired.
Madison felt that Matthew had suddenly become very busy recently. It was fine to work late after work, but sometimes he had to go to the office on weekends. They were used to eating together daily, but he was always absent these past two weeks, feeling like something was missing. And he always answered phone calls in secret, looking mysterious.
Another night, when Matthew called to say he would be working late, Madison couldn't help but call Patrick.
"Patrick, where are you?" Madison felt awkward to ask directly.
At this moment, Patrick was showing Matthew a site. He looked at the incoming call on his phone, glanced at Matthew standing next to him, hesitated for a moment, and then answered.
"Madison, I... I'm working overtime at the office," Patrick said casually.
"Working overtime? Why is the company so busy lately, and Matthew is always working late." Madison wasn't trying to check up on him, she just felt that Matthew's frequency of overtime was a bit too high recently.
Patrick glanced at Matthew and breathed a sigh of relief, glad he didn't say anything wrong. "Madison, the company has always been busy, and Matthew had a backlog of work from his time off, so it's been busy lately. It will get better after this busy period." Patrick began to comfort Madison.
"That's good. Is Matthew with you? Madison asked.
Patrick looked at Matthew in front of him and lied, "No, Matthew just went to the restroom."
"That's good, don't tell him I called you," Madison instructed.
"Okay."
After hanging up, Patrick turned to Matthew and said, "Madison called to check up on you, Matthew. What have you been up to lately?" with a questioning look.
"Didn't you say not to tell me?" Matthew smirked. Patrick rolled his eyes at him, "You heard that, didn't you?"
"I'm preparing to propose recently, telling Madison I'm working late. She probably feels something's off." Matthew walked away as he spoke.
"You could at least come up with a better excuse, say you're meeting a few of us for drinks. And Matthew, can you at least give a heads up to your brother in advance so that next time I receive a call from Madison, I can have the reasons consistent beforehand, don't leave all this pressure on me alone." Patrick followed his steps, complaining as they walked.
The truth would have been exposed if he hadn't reacted quickly today.
As they reached the parking lot, Matthew stopped. "No need to keep the reasons consistent anymore. For today's site, I'll leave the rest to you." Then he opened the car door, got in, and drove away in a beautiful drift, leaving Patrick standing alone, "Matthew… Matthew, what does this mean?"
Later, Patrick came to know that all sorts of miscellaneous tasks were his responsibility.
After driving home, when Matthew entered the house, they were all in Hannah's room, the three of them squeezed onto a bed, listening to Madison tell stories. When Matthew pushed open the door, he saw this heartwarming scene.
All three looked up at him simultaneously. The two little ones shouted, "Daddy, you're back," and immediately climbed into his arms. Matthew, in a suit, walked in, and as soon as he entered, the villa was quiet. No one on the first floor. He went straight upstairs, saw the light on in his daughter's room, and couldn't wait to push the door open.
Madison also got off the bed, her happy expression on her face undisguised, "Why are you back so early? Weren't you supposed to work late?" She had already taken a shower, ready to tell the two little ones a couple of stories, then go back to her room to sleep.
Matthew hugged Quentin and Hannah on either side. The two little ones hadn't seen their dad for several nights. They were very excited, clinging to him and not letting go.
"Yes, I felt you missed me, so I hurried back early after finishing my work," Matthew explained.
"Daddy, are you going to the office tomorrow? Can we go to the zoo together?" Hannah asked with her head tilted, adding her own request.
Matthew pinched her chubby little cheek and smiled, "Daddy won't go to the office tomorrow. We'll go to the zoo with Mommy, so have a good sleep tonight and wake up for breakfast tomorrow, okay?"
"Okay." The two replied in unison, with Hannah bouncing down to sleep, and Quentin followed his parents out of Hannah's room to sleep in their own room.
Matthew and Madison returned to their room. Matthew took a shower first while Madison lay down and turned on the TV, preparing to find a movie to watch together. It was rare that they had time early today so they could relax a bit.
After Matthew finished his shower and came out, Madison hadn't found anything to watch. Matthew walked over as she stared at the TV and kept pressing the remote, "Can't find anything to watch?"
Madison nodded, "Yeah, it seems like I've seen them all."
"Oh, let's watch a variety show. Ophelia recently participated in one. Let's watch that." Madison suddenly remembered that Ophelia had participated in a variety show, so they could watch it.
"Okay." Matthew nodded, his hair looking particularly soft after just washing it. He lifted the covers and climbed into bed.
