Chapter 392 Making the News
Liam, with a fiery passion, quickly took off his clothes and climbed into bed before he snuggled up behind Ophelia, whispering, "Ophelia, wake up. Don't sleep yet."
Ophelia, extremely sleepy, kept her eyes closed and frowned, trying to avoid him. Liam used all his charm to entice Ophelia, speaking in a pitiful and soft voice, "Ophelia, wake up. If you don't, I'll eat you up."
His hands and mouth were busy proving his words. Ophelia, dazed, opened her eyes and saw only the top of his head.
Before she could react, she was indeed "eaten."
Ophelia belatedly realized she was wearing a uniform. She thought, 'No wonder Liam was so excited tonight, like he was on a stimulant.'
The next morning, she was woken up by a phone call. Before she could reach for her phone, the person next to her had already picked it up. As soon as the call connected, she could hear her agent yelling from a distance, "Ophelia. Do you know what time it is? Did you forget about the magazine shoot this morning? I reminded you on Facebook yesterday. Please, try to remember."
Ophelia was startled awake. She stuck out her tongue and turned to look at Liam. He was lying naked, leaning against the headboard, holding her phone, and getting yelled at by her fierce agent, Shirley. Ophelia quickly looked away; such excitement was too much for her in the morning. She had indeed forgotten about the shoot, but it wasn't her fault. The culprit was right next to her, and it was only fair he got yelled at by Shirley.
After Shirley finished her rant, Liam finally said, "I'm Liam."
There was a noticeable pause on the other end, followed by a respectful tone. "Mr. Martin, is Ophelia with you? She has a magazine shoot this morning. I'll send a driver to pick her up."
"Cancel it. The company will cover the penalty fee. Don't schedule any work for her in the next couple of days," Liam said directly.
There was another pause on the other end, then a respectful reply. "Understood, Mr. Martin."
After hanging up, Liam handed the phone back to Ophelia, then got out of bed, lifting the covers. Ophelia covered her eyes, refusing to look at him, which made Liam smile slightly. Feeling refreshed, he headed to the bathroom with a smirk.
After getting her phone back, Ophelia immediately sent Shirley an apology on Facebook: [Shirley, I'm sorry. I forgot about this morning.]
A long voice message came through immediately. Ophelia played it and heard Shirley's exasperated voice, "Ophelia, next time you're in bed with Mr. Martin, can you give me a heads-up? My heart nearly stopped when I heard his voice!"
Ophelia sent a smile emoji: [You seem perfectly fine.] Knowing Shirley had a tough exterior but a soft heart, Ophelia always pushed her limits.
Ophelia felt a bit guilty and sent another message: [Is it okay if I don't go for the magazine cover shoot?] She really couldn't do the shoot today. Even if she hadn't forgotten, she wouldn't be able to. Because her body was covered in hickeys from Liam, making it impossible to wear those off-shoulder and backless outfits. Luckily, she didn't have much work in the next few days, so the marks should fade with a couple of days.
Shirley: [Don't you think it's a bit late to ask now? Mr. Martin already said the company would pay the penalty. Why do you care? By the way, how wild was your sex last night, and did you need two days to recover?]
Ophelia was startled by her explicit words: [Shirley...]
Shirley: [Alright, I'm busy now and don't have time for details. We'll talk next time we meet. I'll handle the shoot. You rest well for the next two days and don't cause any trouble. I'll contact you in two days.]
Ophelia: [Okay.]
After finishing the conversation with Shirley, Ophelia looked up to see Liam standing in front of her. She couldn't help but blush and scream. "Why aren't you dressed yet?" Liam, looking displeased, turned and walked to the wardrobe, muttering, "I've been standing there for ten minutes." He wondered if she wasn't interested in him anymore, maybe even bored. Liam thought he might need to hit the gym again; his abs didn't seem as defined.
After they got up and sat down for breakfast, Shirley called again, this time directly to Liam.
"Mr. Martin, I have some bad news." Shirley was unsure if Liam would be happy or angry about the news.
"What is it?" Liam asked coldly, frowning.
"You were photographed last night!" Shirley reported honestly. Although she knew the person in the bathrobe being pulled into the car by Liam was Ophelia, the paparazzi who published the news didn't. So now, the internet was flooded with Liam's rumors.
Shirley really hadn't expected Ophelia to go out in a bathrobe.
After hanging up, Liam opened Facebook. Sure enough, the trending topics and headlines were all about him. The paparazzi had taken three photos: one of him buying a cake at a dessert shop, another of him walking to a car, and the last one of him pulling Ophelia into the vehicle, capturing her back in a bathrobe.
Fortunately, only he was clearly visible. They hadn't publicly announced their relationship because Ophelia wanted to succeed on her own merits and didn't want people to think she had a powerful backer.
The comments were full of speculation, and the girl who sold him the strawberry cake last night even provided detailed descriptions.
Seeing Liam frowning after taking the call, Ophelia asked softly, "What's wrong? Who was it?"
Liam looked up at her and said, "We were photographed last night."
"What? Were we photographed? Is it online? What should we do?" Ophelia panicked. She was in a bathrobe last night, with no makeup and looking disheveled. Even though she wasn't a top-tier celebrity, she still cared about her image.
Liam, seeing her reaction, was displeased. He pursed his lips and said nothing. He thought, 'Was being photographed with me so embarrassing?'
Ophelia took out her phone to check the news, muttering to herself, "At least they didn't show me in my bathrobe with no makeup."
Liam was slightly taken aback. His earlier frustration dissipated with her words. So, she wasn't worried about being photographed with him after all.
Liam arranged for the online news to be taken down. Whenever Ophelia agreed to go public with their relationship, he would definitely buy press releases to announce it grandly.
Love came in many forms, each with its sweetness.
