Chapter 408 You Were My Full Joy 7
Mitchell was dressed in a gray tracksuit, just like he did in college. Willow looked at him now and felt he seemed a bit more approachable than last night. She thought the gap between them didn't feel as wide although she still had a long way to go before entering the workforce. She wasn't quite used to seeing Mitchell in a suit and tie.
Mitchell heard the noise, looked up at her, and waved, saying, "You're up. Come have breakfast."
"Okay," Willow slowly walked over, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
Mitchell organized the study materials he had spread out to the side. Some of these were his old school notes, and some were review materials he had specifically found for her. He poured milk into a cup and handed it to her, then took the muffins in the oven and placed them on a plate.
Willow, wearing an oversized school uniform, lowered her head and quietly started eating breakfast. Mitchell sat across from her, not saying a word, reading a book. Willow quickly finished her breakfast, then proactively cleaned up the dishes and put them in the kitchen. She obediently brought her backpack over, took out her exam papers, and sat properly across from Mitchell.
Mitchell put down his book, glanced at her, and then at her exam papers. He spread them out and began to explain each mistake to her carefully.
When Danielle got up, she saw this scene: Mitchell, with a serious expression like a teacher, was explaining problems to Willow, who was like an obedient student, listening and writing, sometimes nodding, frowning, and studying very earnestly. With Mitchell personally teaching, she didn't dare to lose focus; it was even more stressful than listening to teachers at school. She knew this feeling well. She glanced at them, trying to minimize her presence, and went into the kitchen to grab some muffins before sneaking back to her room. This was definitely not the time to disturb them.
Mitchell spent the entire morning going over all the mistakes on Willow's exam papers, and Willow finally understood everything. Mitchell's explanations were simple and direct, seemingly easier to understand than their teacher's. After finishing the exam review, Mitchell didn't even have time to eat. He handed his notes and the prepared review materials to Willow and then headed back to the company.
"I have a lot of review materials in my room that I used before. If you need them, find them yourself. Have lunch with Danielle, and don't eat barbecue or anything like that," Mitchell reminded her before leaving, taking money out of his wallet and handing it to Willow.
"I have money," Willow said softly, looking down.
"Take it, and eat something nutritious," Mitchell placed the money on the dining table and then knocked on Danielle's room door. "Danielle, I'm going to the company. Take Willow out for lunch, and don't eat junk food."
"Got it, Mitchell." Danielle opened her room door and nodded seriously.
After watching Mitchell leave, Danielle bounced out of her room, happily picking up the stack of money on the table. "We can have a big meal for lunch again. Have you finished your homework? Let's head out quickly. After lunch, we can still shop for a while."
Danielle, who had been bored playing on her phone in her room, was eager to go out.
"I've corrected the exam papers, and I did most of the other homework at school yesterday. I still have to write the vocabulary words, but I'll do that when we get back," Willow said as she tidied up the study materials on the table. Danielle also helped her put the materials into her backpack, and they headed out together.
The two of them went out for Mexican food and then spent two hours shopping. Willow still didn't have much sense of fashion and wasn't interested in buying clothes, especially since she wore a school uniform all the time. Danielle bought quite a few clothes and shoes, and Willow eventually picked out two pairs of shoes. They returned home with their hands full.
After getting back, Willow went to Mitchell's room. Since Mitchell had mentioned she could look for materials, she took the initiative to go in. It was her first time entering his room alone when he wasn't there. The bed was neatly made, and one wall was lined with a bookshelf full of books. There weren't many from before college, just some notebooks and scattered materials. Most of the books were related to his architecture studies in college.
Willow found Mitchell's handwritten math and physics notes from high school and decided to take them back to study. She also randomly pulled out a thick black notebook. When she opened it, she found it filled with Mitchell's hand-drawn architectural sketches. She carefully looked through each page, deeply captivated by the intricate drawings. If her goal of getting into the architecture program at A University was initially because of Mitchell, at this moment, she genuinely fell in love with the major.
Willow took the notebook with her and sent Mitchell a message saying she had taken his notes without specifying which ones.
Mitchell replied: [Okay.]
Willow also took his hand-drawn notebook from college.
Later, Willow successfully got into the architecture program at A University, finally transitioning from the most painful high school years to the vibrant college life. It was said that the hardest part of studying was high school, like the darkness before dawn—pitch black and impenetrable. College, on the other hand, was like a colorful rainbow, full of diversity and anticipation. So, Willow was very much looking forward to her college life.
On the day of freshman orientation, Lloyd and Patricia personally took Willow to the school. They had both retired that year and were planning to start a life of travel just as Willow was beginning college.
Mitchell also showed up that day, which Willow didn't know in advance. So when she saw Mitchell appear before her, she couldn't hide her excitement, her face lighting up with a smile as she called out, "Mitchell."
Mitchell was dressed in a formal suit. He looked like a refined gentleman straight out of a painting with the sharp black attire accentuating his youthful and handsome features. He nodded politely at Willow and greeted Lloyd. Willow didn't know why Mitchell was there until he appeared on stage to speak, and then she understood—he had been invited by the school.
In fact, Mitchell had originally planned to take her to the orientation. Being invited was just a convenient excuse; otherwise, it would have been odd for him to show up at the school suddenly.
Willow, Lloyd, and Patricia sat in the audience. Mitchell's appearance on stage caused quite a stir, as he was still a legend in the architecture department and the entire school, even after graduation. The principal personally introduced him, and amidst enthusiastic applause, Mitchell took the microphone and casually stood on stage, speaking eloquently.
He welcomed the new students and then, as an alumnus, guided them through their next four years of study. He concluded with a brief introduction of JK Group. "Thank you, everyone. Four years from now, I hope you all stay true to your original aspirations and achieve great success. I also look forward to receiving your resumes in four years."
The principal led the applause, and Willow sat quietly below, with Lloyd and Patricia praising Mitchell in her ear. Her heart, however, was in turmoil.
