Chapter 477 New Year's Day
After Deborah left, the three of them also walked out of the barbecue restaurant. Willow and Mitchell parted ways with Jimmy right at the door. Initially, he had said he would catch a ride with them, but now he mentioned he had something to take care of and wouldn't be going with them.
Once Willow got into the car, she smiled and said, "That girl just now was really cute."
Mitchell fastened his seatbelt, noticed she hadn't fastened hers, leaned over to help her buckle up, and smiled without saying anything. He hadn't really paid attention earlier; to him, no one was cuter than Willow.
Later, when Willow thought back to this unexpected meeting, she finally understood something. When one loves someone, one naturally show many sides of oneself, rather than constantly being mindful of one's behavior or deliberately displaying a certain image.
For instance, Mitchell always appeared graceful and elegant to others, but in front of her, he could be childishly immature, get angry, and show vulnerability.
Similarly, Jimmy always seemed like a sunny big boy in front of her. She never expected him to be so serious and demanding with others.
So, love was indeed different.
Christmas arrived as scheduled, and after that, it seemed like New Year's was just around the corner. Since everyone would be spending New Year's with their families, Matthew and his friends usually gathered for Christmas.
In previous years, they celebrated Christmas at a hotel. However this year, because Madison was heavily pregnant and it was inconvenient for her to go out, they decided to have dinner at Nelson Mansion to accommodate her.
On Christmas morning, everyone arrived one after another. The happiest were Quentin and Hannah, who had so many people to play with. Patrick was the first to arrive. As soon as he parked his car at the entrance of Nelson Mansion, Quentin and Hannah ran out of the house.
Quentin was dressed in a full suit with a white shirt, vest and bow tie, looking like a little gentleman. While Hannah wore a princess dress with a small crown on her head, looking every bit the little princess. Patrick took out the gifts for the two from the trunk, and then Quentin and Hannah dragged him upstairs to open the toys.
Willow, Mitchell and Victor arrived almost at the same time. Just as Willow's car was parked, Victor's car pulled in.
Danielle came with Ophelia and Liam, arriving later in the afternoon because both Danielle and Ophelia had work on Christmas Day. After work, Liam picked up Ophelia, and since Danielle was nearby, they came together.
Since Matthew and Madison moved into Nelson Mansion, the house had become much livelier with the laughter of the two little ones, but it hadn't been as bustling as it was today for a long time.
Matthew was all smiles throughout the day, his mouth never closing. He had watched these younger ones grow up, and no matter what, they were always children in his eyes.
Valerie knew early on that everyone would be coming for dinner, so she got up early and went to the market to buy a lot of groceries. The seafoodwas freshly delivered in the morning, and she could get the best ingredients at that time.
She was familiar with everyone's tastes and started preparing early. She made a large table full of dishes for dinner, ensuring everyone could find their favorite food.
Those who arrived early had pasta for lunch. Madison thought it would be too tiring for Valerie to cook two meals, and since she couldn't help much, she suggested pasta for lunch, which everyone enjoyed along with Valerie's snacks. Quentin and Hannah even said they wanted to continue eating pasta for dinner.
After dinner, everyone gathered in the living room to chat, with a variety show playing on the TV, creating a lively atmosphere.
William, in high spirits during dinner, had a bit of wine and couldn't stay up until midnight, so Tristan helped him to his room to rest. Except for Madison and Willow, everyone else had some alcohol, though the men drank more. Ophelia and Danielle each had a glass of red wine to join in the fun.
Willow didn't drink, and clueless Patrick asked her why until Mitchell raised an eyebrow playfully, smirked, and said, "Trying for a baby."
Patrick then understood, slapped his hand, and gave Mitchell a thumbs-up, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Hannah, curious as ever, tilted her head and asked Madison, "Mom, what does 'trying for a baby' mean?"
Madison smiled and patted her head. She patiently explained, "It means you will soon have another little buddy."
Hannah's eyes lit up, and she exclaimed, "So Auntie Willow is going to have a baby too, right?"
"Hannah, you're so smart," Madison said with a smile.
Hannah immediately clapped her hands and said happily, "That's great! Soon there will be two more kids to play with me and my brother."
She then turned to Quentin and said, "Quentin, we're going to have two more buddies soon. It could be two boys, two girls, or one boy and one girl."
Her thoughts were clear, and Quentin listened seriously, smiling all the while, clearly doting on his sister.
Everyone sat in the living room, the atmosphere warm and relaxed. Among them, Patrick was the most lively, talking the most after Hannah. His humor and wit had everyone laughing and enjoying themselves.
Madison had a good appetite and had eaten a lot at dinner. Now she was having fruit, enjoying the sweet and sour cherry tomatoes, which was her favorite.
Valerie prepared a small plate for her every day after meals, and she quickly finished them.
Matthew had arranged for a fruit store to deliver fresh fruit every morning. In the later stages of her pregnancy, Madison's feet were a bit swollen, so she wore larger slippers at home.
Matthew, feeling sorry for her, took even more meticulous care of her.
He applied pregnancy oil to her skin every night at a set time, and perhaps because of this, she didn't develop any stretch marks this time. She had some during her pregnancies with Quentin and Hannah, but they were few and light, leaving only faint marks now. Before bed, he would massage her swollen feet for twenty minutes, making sure she was comfortable.
Sometimes, Madison felt embarrassed seeing her chubby toes in his hands, but Matthew always handled them with care and tenderness.
Seeing his attentive care for Madison, the women present were all very envious.
