Chapter 332 Unexpected Encounter

Patrick was usually so adept at wining, dining, and having fun that it made sense for Matthew to entrust him with finding a proposal venue. In just two days, Patrick came to report the progress to Matthew - the venue was secured. He even found two options, listing their pros and cons for Matthew to choose. One was a resort in the outskirts with a vast lawn, where a professional team could transform it according to their preferences, allowing everyone to enjoy a vacation as well. The other was a square in the city center, where they could rent the large screen and play a pre-edited video directly on it, with some passersby making cameo appearances for added surprise.

Patrick enthusiastically introduced both options, getting himself worked up and feeling that both places were excellent. He even began to imagine how touched his sister-in-law would be when proposed to; he believed he had at least a third of the credit in this.

Matthew remained silent after listening for a while as if contemplating something. Patrick waved five fingers in front of his eyes, "Matthew, are you even listening? So, which one do you think is better?"

Patrick was confident in the two locations he found, even envisioning his sister-in-law being proposed to. He was determined to secure his one-third share of the credit.

After a long silence, Matthew finally said, "We don't need either. I'll handle it myself." He then lowered his head and continued to look at the documents.

Patrick stood there dumbfounded, not understanding the situation at all. When he came to his senses, he asked unwillingly, "Why, Matthew? You don't like either of the options? I'll keep looking for you until you're satisfied. Tell me your requirements and conditions, and I'll make sure you're happy." After all, he had to secure his one-third share of the credit.

Looking up from the pile of documents, Matthew gazed at Patrick, "Really, there's no need. You go on with your business." Patrick sat down in his chair, feeling puzzled. What was going on?

Not willing to give up, he asked, "Why, Matthew? Don't like either of the plans? I'll keep looking until you're satisfied. Tell me your requirements and conditions, and I'll make sure you're happy." He was determined to secure his one-third share of the credit.

Matthew looked up from the documents, "No need, you go on with your business." Patrick felt uneasy under Matthew's gaze, "Matthew, why are you looking at me like that?"

Matthew remained silent, making Patrick even more nervous. "I... I was just kidding. How could I go to see Madison?" He retreated, feeling very timid.

"I plan to find a cinema. Help me check it out," Matthew finally spoke. When Patrick heard this, he wondered why a cinema? After thinking for a while, he suddenly realized that Matthew might be planning to propose to Madison in the cinema. How did he not think of that? What a great idea!

"No problem, I'll go check it out right away." With his new task in hand, Patrick dashed off. Meanwhile, Matthew put down his pen, took out his phone, and scrolled through some photos of him and Madison. His proposal plan had already taken shape. When Patrick mentioned playing a video on a large screen, a spark of inspiration flashed in his mind. He thought that Madison would find the city center's large screen too ostentatious. So, changing the venue to a cinema might suit her better.

Willow never expected to run into Laura at the company, considering that the cooperation between their companies had already been settled. There was no need for her, as the initial point person, to continue visiting their company to discuss details. Willow was holding files and preparing to go upstairs. She had promised herself yesterday that she wouldn't go upstairs to deliver files anymore. If Mitchell couldn't convince her, he would have the manager do it. She had just declined Mitchell's request to go upstairs to see him when the manager came out of the office with a blue folder in hand and asked her to deliver it to Mr. Jonah, who was in a hurry.

Willow was about to refuse when the manager walked away without looking back. Elizabeth, who usually didn't mind running errands, was absent today, and the other colleagues were busy, so she reluctantly carried the folder and headed upstairs. As the elevator door opened, she looked up and saw Laura standing inside, causing her to freeze.

Laura greeted her openly, "What a coincidence, Willow, want to come in?" Willow stiffly nodded and stepped in, seeing that the 16th-floor number was already lit. Was she here to see Mitchell?

Seeing that she didn't press a floor button, Laura asked, "Are you going to the 16th floor too?" Willow softly agreed, standing in a corner without saying another word. She was filled with doubts and uncertainties, feeling muddled and absent-minded. When the elevator reached the 16th floor, she mechanically followed Laura out.

Both walked toward Mitchell's office. Willow lagged behind Laura, her mind even considering whether she should delay delivering the files to Mitchell. Watching Laura's elegant and fragrant presence ahead of her, she chose to avoid the situation.

Mitchell's office door was open, and he was sitting behind the desk, head down, pen in hand. Hearing footsteps, he assumed it was Willow and looked up with a smile. However, his expression froze upon seeing Laura, and without any emotion, he asked, "Laura, what are you doing here?"

Laura walked straight to the sofa, tossed her bag on it, and sat down as if she owned the place. Mitchell frowned slightly, showing impatience, even thinking that Willow wouldn't act this way.

"What, not happy to see me?" Laura was accustomed to Mitchell's expressionless and frowning demeanor, appearing indifferent to his attitude. Mitchell didn't pay attention to what she was saying, his mind preoccupied with Willow's absence; his eyes remained fixed on the door. Willow was actually standing at the doorway, not entering with Laura but not wanting to leave either.

Following Mitchell's gaze, Laura looked toward the door and casually said, "Wasn't Willow on the elevator with me? Why didn't she come in?" Before she could finish her sentence, Mitchell dashed out as if caught in a whirlwind, almost tripping over a chair in his haste. It was the first time Laura had seen him so flustered.

Mitchell rushed to the door, saw Willow standing not far away with the files in her arms, and approached her anxiously, breathing slightly heavily. "Why didn't you come in?" Speaking as he took her arm and led her into the office, Willow followed him passively, silently relieved that the corridor was empty.
