Chapter 233 Drifting

Matthew had been to this old house before, but he had forgotten everything after his amnesia. Looking at the simple and outdated furnishings, he held Madison in his arms, feeling sorry for her.

Madison looked at everyone with a serious and somewhat sad expression. He deliberately ran ahead and cheerfully introduced the room he used to live in and the cooking area, as well as the interesting things from his childhood. Together with the curious questions from Quentin and Hannah, it made everyone burst into laughter, sweeping away the previously heavy atmosphere.

"Grandpa, Madison is here to see you, along with Matthew, Quentin, and Hannah. I have good news to tell you, and you will definitely be happy. I found my mom and dad. This time, my mom, dad, and brother came to see you, too," Madison said with a smile. "I'm doing well now, so you don't have to worry. My mom, dad, brother, and Matthew will all take care of me."

Madison's father-in-law and mother-in-law bowed to the tombstone together and whispered in unison, "Thank you." Hank then knelt and said, "Grandpa, thank you for raising my sister."

"William, Hannah also came to see you."

The two children had come back with Madison before and knew that William was inside. They politely asked about him. After paying their respects to Grandpa, everyone returned to the villa together. It was still early, and the people who had gone drifting had not returned yet. The resort's staff prepared the barbecue in the evening. It was necessary to have professionals roast the whole lamb to make it delicious. So Madison took his parents to the lake to go boating, which was not far and not tiring.

They didn't ride a large boat but rented a small boat for two to three people. It had a sunshade and required people to pedal and control the direction themselves. Madison and Matthew were in one boat, his father-in-law and mother-in-law in another, and Hank with the two kids in another. They all had a great time as the three ships slowly drifted on the lake, leisurely and carefree.

Nicholas and his group drove to the scenic rafting area, and then they all took the shuttle bus to the starting point of the rafting on the mountaintop. Many people were already queuing up and waiting for the rafting. Because it was hot and the rafting would get their clothes wet, Nicholas reminded everyone in advance to bring a change of clothes. As they lined up, they discussed eagerly and felt extremely excited. Nicholas thoughtfully prepared a waterproof phone pouch for each person and also provided information about the rafting course. The rafting area, located next to the mountain resort, was one of their development projects. The water storage capacity of the mountaintop reservoir reached one million cubic meters, and with abundant summer rainfall, it made for an even more enjoyable experience. The scenic area was surrounded by mountains with a high forest coverage, creating a pleasant natural environment. The entire length of the rafting course was about 10 kilometers, with a total drop of 260 meters. It would take approximately one and a half hours to complete the whole journey, making it very thrilling.

Rachel stood beside Nicholas, listening to his confident description of his career, her eyes shining with excitement. She was also a determined person in her career and had achieved a little success through her hard work. Therefore, she truly understood the hardships of entrepreneurship, especially the initial stage where one had to endure hardship. Only those who had walked this path would understand.

The order and efficiency of the scenic area were both very high. Although there were many people in the queue, the line moved forward in an orderly manner, and it quickly reached their turn. Everyone hurriedly put on their life jackets and waited to board the kayak. The kayaks for the rafting were designed for two people per boat. Liam and Ophelia got on the first boat because there were other tourists, and the number of people was quite high. Ophelia wrapped herself up tightly, only exposing her eyes. Then, Victor and Patrick got on the boat, followed by Nicholas, who pulled Rachel onto the boat as well. Ella was supposed to be on the next boat with Mitchell, but Daniel rushed over and stood between Ella and Mitchell. "Ella, let's be in the same boat. Willow is too light, and I'm worried about the boat flipping. It would be safer for me to be with you."

Ella stood frozen in place, her mouth forcing a faint smile. "Actually, I'm pretty light too."

Daniel pulled her and was about to board the boat. "Don't worry, you're definitely heavier than Willow. I promise," Daniel said confidently, even whispering, "You're at least two pounds heavier than Willow, especially with your chest."

Ella didn't hear his murmurs. She leaned over Daniel, her eyes eagerly looking at Mitchell. Mitchell seemed indifferent, allowing Daniel to make a scene. The boatman who was responsible for pulling the boat urged them to board quickly, as many people were waiting in line behind them.
Daniel pulled Ella's sleeve and pitifully said, "Ella, I really dare not sit on the same boat as her. If something really happens and the boat capsizes, there will be no way out. Last time I went drifting with her, the boat capsized."

"Alright, let's take one boat together then," Ella said and followed Daniel onto the kayak. Willow stood at the back, watching Daniel and Ella get on the kayak without snapping out of her daze. She was bewildered by this unexpected turn of events. When did she flip a boat while going drifting with her? What would she do? She glanced at Mitchell, who was in front of her. It seemed that only she and Mitchell left. Should she take the same boat with Mitchell or paddle on her own?

Willow stood there in a daze, her mind filled with various thoughts. Mitchell had already stepped into the kayak and reached out his long arm to Willow. "Give me your hand," he said. Willow snapped out of her daze and quickly extended her hand. Their hands touched, and Willow couldn't help but blush. Luckily, it was hot, and her cheeks were already flushed from the sun. Otherwise, her embarrassment would have been noticed.

With their legs on opposite sides, they let go as the boatman released them, and the kayak floated downstream with the current. At first, it was fine. The current was not too strong, and they could still chat. Mitchell looked at the Young Lady in front of him with her head lowered and asked, "Did you capsize when you went drifting with Daniel before?"

"Huh?" Willow didn't react at first but then reluctantly replied, "Yes." She really wasn't good at lying; she always lacked confidence when telling lies.

"Be more careful when going out to play in the future," Mitchell advised with the tone of an elder.

"Yes, I understand," Willow nodded.

Mitchell looked at the person in front of him, who remained silent and felt a bit puzzled. This girl used to be so excited and noisy in his ear, but now she was becoming quieter and quieter.
