Chapter 512 Finally Succeeded
Mitchell propped himself up, careful not to press on Willow's belly, and kissed her gently. After a bit, he whispered, "Sweetie, you should sleep first."
Willow frowned, her eyes tearing up. "Honey, don't you like me anymore? Is it because my body is out of shape now?"
Mitchell was stunned and quickly reassured her, "Baby, of course not. I'm just worried about your health."
He didn't need a cold shower anymore.
He got back into bed, holding Willow's face and soothing her.
People say pregnant women overthink and have mood swings. Mitchell didn't believe it when Matthew talked about his wife, thinking Willow was always calm. But things changed quickly.
Seeing Willow trying not to cry broke Mitchell's heart. He decided to go along with her wishes instead of making her cry and then comforting her. He gently coaxed her for a while, not noticing Willow tugging at his pajama pants, her hand reaching inside.
Mitchell froze.
Willow was determined; she was six months along, and waiting longer would make it impossible.
Mitchell turned over, propped himself above her, and they slowly undressed each other.
After they had done the deed, Willow fell asleep with a smile, hugging Mitchell's arm. Half-asleep, she felt him wiping her with a warm towel and murmured, "Honey."
"I'm here," Mitchell replied softly.
"I love you," Willow said before drifting off.
Half-kneeling on the bed with the towel, Mitchell's eyes were tender. "I love you too," he said quietly.
Some feelings never fade; they grow stronger. A slow and steady love was the best kind.
Later in Willow's pregnancy, she stayed home more. After Madison dropped Quentin and Hannah at school, she brought some of Joy's old baby clothes to Willow; many were new or barely worn. The elders had said newborns who wore other babies' clothes would be well-behaved, and Jessica had told Willow to ask Madison to save some. Since newborns didn't care about color, Madison sorted some for Willow and left some for Rachel.
Willow was thrilled to see Joy.
Madison didn't drive; the driver brought her.
Jessica invited Madison to stay for lunch. She adored Joy and took her to play, leaving Madison and Willow to chat.
Madison shared lots of pre-birth tips with Willow, like packing a hospital bag and childbirth experiences.
In the afternoon, when Madison was about to leave, Joy didn't want to go and started crying in her mom's arms.
Jessica kept inviting Madison to stay for dinner, suggesting Matthew could join them with Mitchell after work. But Madison, thinking of Quentin and Hannah, decided to leave. She had promised to pick them up from school in the morning. So she left with Joy, calling the driver to pick her up.
After giving birth, Matthew had assigned a driver to her, not letting her drive. Since her driving skills weren't great and she often took the kids out, it was more convenient to use the driver.
Not long after Madison left, Willow got a message from Elizabeth. It was a photo of Mitchell in a meeting, with a girl sitting next to him, looking at him with infatuation. Elizabeth had added a comment, [Willow, this new girl in the department is so pretentious. She's always taking documents to Mr. Jonah. I'm telling you, be careful. These young girls are bold nowadays; even if you don't provoke them, they'll come after you.]
Elizabeth told her a lot about the new girl's two-faced antics in the office, saying she had all the men wrapped around her finger, always eager to help. She had studied abroad at some prestigious university, with impressive credentials.
Willow looked carefully at the photo Elizabeth sent. Mitchell's gaze wasn't on the new girl, but she still felt upset.
At dinner, it was just her, Jessica, and Richard. Danielle hadn't come back, and Mitchell was working late. She ate little, and even Jessica noticed something was wrong, thinking she was unwell. Willow went along with Jessica's suggestion to rest in her room and went upstairs.
When Mitchell came back from working late, Jessica quickly told him about Willow not feeling well and not eating much.
Mitchell didn't even have time to eat; he went straight upstairs. Seeing the small figure on the bed, with only a little face showing, he walked over quietly. As soon as he sat down by the bed, Willow opened her eyes.
"Did I wake you? Mom said you weren't feeling well and didn't eat much tonight. What's wrong? Should we go to the hospital?" Mitchell asked softly.
Willow pouted and shook her head. She trusted Mitchell and didn't want to get angry over something that hadn't happened, but she still felt uncomfortable.
"It's nothing, maybe I didn't sleep well. I'll be fine after some rest. You haven't had dinner yet, right? Go eat first," Willow said, not mentioning anything.
Mitchell touched her forehead, confirming she didn't have a fever before getting up. "I'll go eat first and come back to keep you company."
Willow nodded.
Mitchell stood up, walked out of the room, and gently closed the door before going downstairs to eat.
Jessica saw him coming down and quickly asked about Willow.
"She's fine, no fever, probably just didn't sleep well," Mitchell said.
"Madison came over today, so maybe her nap was shorter than usual," Jessica said, thinking that was the only possibility.
Mitchell had been a bit worried, but hearing Jessica's explanation, he felt relieved. So Madison had visited, and Willow probably just didn't sleep well.
When Mitchell finished dinner and returned to the room, he saw that Willow was already asleep. He quickly took a shower and lay down on the bed, thinking that once things settled down, he would take Willow for a walk around the area before the baby arrived.
