Chapter 249 Sisterly Chat
After returning home from the resort, the Madison family started preparing their luggage again to go to Emerald Isle City and the beach. This time, they would be going for a longer period, so there were more things to prepare. Quentin and Hannah, the two little ones, each had their suitcase to pack their things first, and Madison would check them later. The two little ones were excited and couldn't wait to start packing their bags on the day they returned.
On her second day back in Horizon City, Madison went to the studio. The clothes she made for Mother Howard and the last few handmade stitches still needed to be finished, so she had to hurry and catch up. There was also an important matter—she needed to talk to Rachel about her situation with Nicholas.
Early in the morning, Madison went to the Studio. No one had arrived at work yet, so she quietly worked on her clothes in her own office. Since no one disturbed her, she was very efficient. What would have taken half a day to complete, she finished in just three hours. One by one, the others arrived at work and didn't notice Madison in her office. It was only when she finished making the clothes and walked out that they saw her.
Sarah watched as Madison suddenly opened the door and walked out of her office. She was almost scared. "Madison, how did you come out of the office like that?"
It finally dawned on Madison that she had been hiding in her office, focusing on making the clothes, and hadn't made any sound. So, her sudden appearance must have startled them. "Sorry, I came early and have been busy."
Sarah quickly waved her hand. "No problem, Rachel is already here, in her office."
Upon hearing this, Madison hurriedly said, "Really? I'll go find her." She then walked toward Rachel's office. Rachel had just finished a phone call with a client, confirming the time for taking measurements, when she looked up and saw Madison standing at the door. She quickly stood up. "Madison, aren't you supposed to pack today? Why are you here?"
"I didn't finish some hand sewing on the clothes I made for my mom last time, so I came early this morning to rush it. I just finished it, and when I went out, I scared Sarah." Madison explained with a smile, turning the incident of startling everyone into a joke for Rachel to hear.
"Rachel, are you busy lately? If you're too busy, should I take on fewer orders? I haven't been managing the Studio much. Thank you for your hard work." Madison asked.
Rachel replied to a message on her phone, then put it down and looked at Madison with a smile. "Madison, why are you still being polite to me? Just focus on your designs. Leave the rest to me. We definitely have to make money when we can. We can save the extra for our precious son and daughter. Even though they have a rich dad and their mom and godmother, we can't fall behind."
"Okay, I'll save a portion for your future son or daughter, too," Madison said with a smile.
"I haven't even started anything yet. How can it happen so soon?" Rachel instinctively refused.
Madison tentatively said, "My brother is good, isn't he? He's handsome, and even though being a police officer is busy, he is safe. And my parents are easy to get along with."
"But I don't feel anything!" Rachel rubbed her nose and still didn't give in.
"Then, what do you think of Nicholas?" Madison suddenly brought up Nicholas, leaving Rachel stunned. Madison continued with a sly smile, "Nicholas has a good temper, he's not bad-looking either, and he's of average height. Although Nicholas's parents are just ordinary rural folks, he has worked hard. He excelled in school and now has a successful business career. He's quite similar to you in terms of ambition. Since you can also make money, Nicholas is definitely a good choice for you!" Madison praised Nicholas's qualities while observing Rachel's facial expressions. Rachel's face grew redder, and she lowered her head.
Assessing the situation, Madison was convinced that there was a potential connection between these two individuals. After Madison finished her statement, she continued to gaze at Rachel with a smile. Rachel finally raised her head and said, "Madison, stop smiling."
"Honestly, tell me when you two started dating," Madison playfully inquired, pretending to be serious.
Blushing, Rachel felt somewhat embarrassed as she softly replied, "We're not dating yet." Madison paused momentarily, realizing that Nicholas had mentioned that he was still pursuing Rachel. Observing Rachel's shy demeanor, Madison was certain that Nicholas had a high chance of success. However, Madison had no intention of interfering; she wanted to express her support and ensure that both individuals could follow their hearts without any resentment.
"Well, taking it slow and enjoying the feeling of being pursued is a good idea," Madison replied with a smile, echoing Rachel's words. Rachel looked at Madison and then earnestly asked, "Madison, do you genuinely think Nicholas and I are a good match?"
"Rachel, whether or not others deem you suitable for each other is based on superficial aspects such as appearance, height, family background, and occupation - things that can be seen.
However, when two people come together and progress toward marriage, it involves more than just these external factors. Compatibility also includes your fundamental values, personalities, and other internal qualities, which can only be understood through actual interaction. I am still figuring things out myself, so I can't offer you much advice. Meeting the right person means finding someone who can provide comfort, encouragement, and understanding, allowing the relationship to be simple and pure, which can lead to longevity. Whether or not Nicholas is the right person for you is up to you to judge. Regardless of the decision you make, I'll support you." Madison held Rachel's hand as she expressed her thoughts, assuring her that she would always be there, just like before when Rachel stood by her during her toughest times.
"Madison, thank you," Rachel said, pulling Madison into an embrace.
"Thank you so much. We will always be good sisters. I'm treating everyone to lunch today because I'm leaving for Emerald Isle City tomorrow. You all have to continue working hard." Madison patted Rachel on the shoulder and prepared to ask Sarah and the others what they wanted to eat, find a place to eat, and make reservations in advance.
During lunch, a few people from Studio said they wanted to eat pork stomach chicken. Madison smiled and asked, "Why is everyone so light today?" Usually, they all loved spicy food. Sarah quickly explained, "This new restaurant just opened, and they have a promotion. We thought of saving some money for you, Madison. And we went there for a meal a few days ago; the food was good, especially the soup; it was very flavorful."
"With Sarah around, Studio doesn't have to worry about any wastage. Even when I'm treating you to a meal, you're still thinking about saving me money. Well done, well done." Madison gave Sarah a thumbs up.
Sarah said with some embarrassment, "I'm just worried that if we eat too much at one meal, there won't be enough for the next one. We have to save money and make the most of our resources so we can enjoy more meals." This explanation made Madison burst into laughter. "Alright, for the leftovers this time, Sarah, you keep track of them, and I'll treat you all when I come back."
"Understood." Sarah exaggeratedly made a salute, which made everyone burst into laughter.
