Chapter 358 Voluntary Admission
In the end, Madison failed to convince William and Matthew, and the betrothal gifts arrived according to the list written by William. The wedding was held two months later, and this time, they truly wore wedding gowns, walking elegantly with Matthew on the red carpet.
Quentin and Hannah, the two little ones, were about to start school, so Madison and Matthew planned to stay at Nelson Mansion for a few days together to spend more time with William. After playing through the summer vacation, the two little ones seemed to not have had enough fun. Hearing Madison mention the upcoming start of school in a few days, both children frowned. Hannah tilted her head and asked, "Mom, can I not go to school and stay at home with you?"
Madison looked at Hannah's furrowed brows and decisively crushed her hopes, "No."
Seeing that her acting cute didn't work on her mom, Hannah immediately turned to her dad, holding Matthew's arm and starting to act cute again. "Daddy, can I not go to school, and just stay at home with you, Mom, and great-grandfather?"
Matthew lifted Hannah up and placed her on his lap, smiling at his daughter. Hannah thought her dad had agreed, so she happily smiled back. But then she heard her dad say, "Sweetie, listen to Mom about going to school." Hannah was taken aback; her dad was really not helpful.
"Dad, when will you ever say to listen to you? It's always listen to Mom every time. I know it's useless to ask you; I might as well ask great-grandfather." Hannah, now more understanding, bluntly exposed her dad, causing everyone to burst into laughter. Matthew rubbed his nose and even added, "Yes, Mom's word is final." Then he turned to look at Madison with deep affection.
Understanding the situation, Quentin ran over, took Hannah's hand, and coaxed, "Hannah, come with me to kindergarten, I'll play with you." Hannah jumped off her dad's lap, took her brother's hand, and became happy again.
Hannah thought, ‘Well, let's just go to school; after all, Quentin will be there.’
That evening, Madison and Matthew called her parents and informed them of the confirmed wedding date. The wedding would take place in Horizon City, and her parents and brother would definitely attend. There would also be relatives and friends from Emerald Isle City, so arrangements needed to be made in advance.
Father Howard and Mother Howard were overjoyed to receive the call from their daughter and son-in-law. Upon hearing about the wedding date, they were eager to fly from Emerald Isle City to Horizon City immediately. Fortunately, Matthew persuaded them to wait. He would personally deliver the betrothal gifts, and they would return to Emerald Isle City before the wedding, sparing the in-laws the trouble of traveling.
Upon learning that the couple would return, Father Howard and Mother Howard abandoned their immediate plans to fly to Horizon City. They reminded them not to forget to bring Quentin and Hannah back with them and then busied themselves with preparing the dowry.
On Monday morning, as soon as Willow entered the office, she overheard everyone discussing her brother and sister-in-law's news. Most of her colleagues in the company were looking forward to their wedding, anticipating treats. Some even speculated that if the boss was happy, they might get additional benefits.
Willow seriously considered that this was something Matthew would do—increasing benefits was highly likely.
Since it wasn't yet time to start work, colleagues gathered in the pantry to have breakfast and chat about the benefits provided by the boss. Willow was surprised to find out that everyone had become fans of Matthew and Madison, even following their Facebook accounts to see pictures of Quentin and Hannah. She quickly retreated to a corner; if they found out her phone was filled with pictures of the two little ones, it would be embarrassing.
Willow made herself a cup of coffee in the corner. She had already eaten breakfast; when she woke up in the morning, Mitchell had made sandwiches, and she had eaten one before leaving.
Just as she finished making her coffee and was about to leave, Elizabeth grabbed her, asking in a hushed tone, "Willow, who do you think will be the next boss in our company to get married?"
Willow, holding her coffee, shook her head blankly. How would she know? Could it be Liam and Ophelia?
Elizabeth pulled her to a more secluded spot and confidently whispered in her ear, "Let me tell you, the next one will definitely be our Mr. Jonah."
Willow tensed up. ‘What's going on? Does everyone know? I hadn’t even told Mitchell yet.’
Before she could react, Elizabeth continued, "Last Friday, didn't you get into Mr. Jonah's car at the intersection in front of the company?"
Willow was taken aback. She hadn't expected that her hasty decision to get into another car at the next intersection had been noticed. She was about to apologize when Elizabeth continued, "Wasn't Mr. Jonah's girlfriend in the car? Mr. Jonah is really nice; why didn't you drive that day and instead ride a bicycle? Did Mr. Jonah give you a ride along the way?"
Feeling like she was on a rollercoaster, Willow's heart was in turmoil, sometimes rising to her throat and then dropping back down. She nervously smiled, unsure whether to continue hiding the truth from Elizabeth. After all, they had a good relationship, and continuing to lie didn't seem right.
Elizabeth was still excited, pulling Willow along and asking, "What does Mr. Jonah's girlfriend look like? Is she from our company? Do I know her? I was in a hurry to catch the bus that day; otherwise, I would have definitely followed to see who it was, and I would have won over Mr. Jonah."
Willow felt a bit embarrassed. By now, the people in the pantry had dispersed and returned to work. After hesitating for a moment, she hesitantly began, "You know..."
Elizabeth didn't catch on and stared at Willow. "What do I know?"
Willow took a sip of her coffee, glanced around, feeling uncomfortable, and explained, "You know Mr. Jonah's girlfriend. You know her."
Excited, Elizabeth exclaimed, "I knew it! She must be from our project department. We can't let other departments snatch Mr. Jonah away. Is she from the sixteenth floor?"
Faced with Elizabeth's hopeful expression, Willow shook her head.
"Not one of the pretty young girls in the secretary's office on the sixteenth floor?" Elizabeth doubted herself. ‘It has to be one of the pretty young ladies on the sixteenth floor; there are more men than women on the fifteenth floor, and most are married. Besides Willow, there are few single women, so it can't be from the fifteenth floor.’
Willow shook her head again, feeling bold, and said directly, "She's from the fifteenth floor."
This time, Elizabeth reacted quickly. Since it wasn't her, it had to be Willow!
