Chapter 493 Do You Prefer Boys or Girls

Willow couldn't sleep after stuffing herself, so she dragged Mitchell into a chat.

She leaned against him lazily. The TV was on, playing some random variety show Mitchell had picked. He remembered she used to love these shows.

Actually, she'd seen this episode before, but it was nice just lying there and talking. Thinking about Rachel's Stories from earlier, she tilted her head and asked, "Babe, do you think it'll snow in Horizon City this year?"

Mitchell held her with one arm, gently stroking her hand with the other. "Probably not. Why? You wanna see snow?"

"Rachel's back in Frostpine, and it snowed there today," Willow said with a smile.

"The first trimester's tricky. Not the best time for traveling. How about we go see the snow in a month?" Mitchell suggested, knowing it was best to stay put for now.

"Okay," Willow agreed with a smile. She was just curious and didn't really want to go see the snow right away. The baby was more important.

The variety show on TV featured two kids, which reminded Willow of something she'd been thinking about. She perked up and looked at Mitchell, smiling. "Babe, can I ask you something?"

Mitchell kissed her forehead and smiled. "Shoot."

"Do you prefer boys or girls?" Willow asked seriously.

Mitchell looked at her just as seriously. "Boy or girl, as long as it's our kid, I'll love them. They're our baby."

"I know, but everyone has their prefernce. What's yours?" She shook his arm, wanting a clear answer.

Mitchell looked at her tenderly, thinking for a moment. Willow's eyes sparkled as she waited. Finally, he smiled. "Then I prefer a girl, hoping she'll be as kind and cute as you."

"Don't you like boys?" Willow pouted, but before she could finish, she yawned widely.

Mitchell turned off the TV and told her to lie down and sleep.

Willow obediently lay down. Though she hadn't wanted to sleep a moment ago, lying in bed made her sleepy. She struggled to keep her eyes open, turned to Mitchell, and asked again, "Babe, don't you like boys?"

Mitchell chuckled, wondering why she was so fixated on this. He kissed her lips and smiled. "You made me choose one. I chose a girl, and now you don't like it. Let's sleep. Boy or girl, they'll be loved."

Willow wanted to say more, but her eyelids were heavy, and she drifted off.

Mitchell reached out to turn off the bedside lamp and whispered, "Goodnight, babe." Then he lay down and slept too.

The whole boy-or-girl question came up between Matthew and Madison too. One evening, after dinner, they decided to go for a walk. Quentin and Hannah were busy with a new puzzle they had started before dinner and couldn't wait to get back to. So, the kids didn't join the walk.

Matthew and Madison, like an old married couple, strolled hand in hand around the small park near Nelson Mansion. Madison's belly was big, and she walked slowly. The doctor had said that moving around more in the later stages would help with a smooth delivery, so Matthew made sure they walked almost every day. Luckily, it was a mild winter in Horizon City, not too cold, so a half-hour walk was just fine.

Someone in the park was selling raspberries, and Madison, craving them, asked Matthew to buy a box. During her last pregnancy with the twins, she ate everything and had a great appetite. She didn't expect that this time, with just one baby, her appetite would be even better. She craved sour, spicy, and sweet foods—pretty much everything.

With a raspberry in her mouth, Madison asked, "Babe, do you think it's a boy or a girl?"

Matthew glanced at her big belly, a gentle smile on his face. "Whether it's a boy or a girl, it's definitely a little foodie."

Madison grinned. She thought so too; otherwise, why would she be able to eat so much? They already had a boy and a girl, and Matthew seemed to love both Quentin and Hannah, though he spoiled Hannah more and was stricter with Quentin. She was just curious if he hoped for a daughter or a son this time.

"So, do you prefer a boy or a girl?" Madison asked, curious.

Matthew stopped walking and, like Mitchell, gave the same answer, proving they were indeed good friends who grew up together.

"But which do you want more this time, a boy or a girl?" Madison playfully stuck out her tongue. Maybe women just like definite answers to these kinds of questions.

"If I have to choose..." Matthew paused, meeting Madison's expectant gaze. He smiled and continued, "Then a girl, like Hannah."

Madison pouted, "I knew you liked Hannah more. You're always so strict with Quentin."

"Wrong, you're always my number one," Matthew clarified immediately. "Quentin's a boy, so I have to be stricter with him. If we have a boy, it would be great; the three of us can protect you two. If we have a girl, then the two of us can protect you three. Either way, it's good."

Madison smiled and continued walking with him. She suddenly felt that discussion on this question was pointless. Whether it was a boy or a girl, they are angels sent by heaven and their precious baby.
