Chapter 311 Vinegar
Willow broke free from Mitchell's hand. It wouldn't be good for them to show up at the company holding hands like this; not only the project team but the whole company would come to watch.
"Mitchell, why don't you go up first, and I'll take the next elevator," Willow said.
Mitchell looked unhappy, "Why? Am I embarrassing you?"
"No, it's just awkward for everyone to know we're dating," Willow said softly, lowering her head.
"I've already posted Stories. What's the big deal? Our company doesn't forbid office romances. If there's such a rule, let Matthew change it," Mitchell said, reluctant to let go of her hand. He finally got the girl he liked, so of course, he wanted to announce it to the world.
"The photos in Stories don't show faces, so no one knows it's me," Willow still didn't want to go public immediately. She was fine with others, but how would she face her colleagues in the project department later?
"How about I post a visible face photo now, directly on the company's official website?" Mitchell took out his phone, looking serious as if he was really going to do it.
"No, Mitchell!" Willow hurriedly grabbed his phone, scared. "Let's wait for the right moment to tell everyone, okay? Otherwise, I won't be able to work downstairs. You go up first. I'll find you at lunch."
In the end, Mitchell gave in to Willow's coaxing and left without publicizing their relationship at the office, although he was still visibly displeased. "You better find the right moment soon, or I'll post the photo on the company's website," Mitchell threatened before heading up the elevator alone. Willow stood there, smiling with narrowed eyes, waving goodbye, and finally getting Mitchell to leave first.
This old man in love can really be childish, wanting to post photos on the company's website. Unbelievable.
Willow sneaked onto the next elevator to the 15th floor. As soon as she entered the office, she ran into Elizabeth walking over with a water cup. "Willow, you're back? When did you come back?" Elizabeth was happy to see her back at work after her leave.
"I just got back yesterday," Willow felt a bit guilty, touching her nose as she walked to her desk and sat down. Elizabeth cheerfully said, "I finally have someone to eat with. No one was there to have lunch with me these past few days. They don't like spicy food, and it's been tough on me. How about Mexican food for lunch?"
Willow felt even more guilty. It seemed impossible to ditch Mitchell at lunch now, or she'd be the headline at the company tomorrow morning, and Mitchell was capable of that.
"I have something to do at lunch, so I can't eat with you," Willow said apologetically to Elizabeth. "I'll treat you to coffee in the afternoon." She managed to dodge the issue.
During lunchtime, when everyone was out, Willow sneaked up the stairs. She used to go up to Mitchell's office before, sometimes having lunch together in his office or even taking a nap. But back then, they weren't together, and she felt fine. Now that their relationship had changed, she felt uneasy, as if everyone was looking at her differently.
When she arrived at Mitchell's office, no one was there, not even Mitchell. She messaged him on Facebook, "Mitchell, aren't you in the office?"
At that moment, Mitchell was on the top floor, in Matthew's office, being held up by Patrick. Matthew was ignoring them, reading documents in front of his computer. Patrick had come to the company today specifically to drag Mitchell out for a meal, and Liam was dragged along, too.
Mitchell sat on the sofa, unfazed. When he saw Willow's message on Facebook, he stood up. "I'm heading down," he said.
"Mitchell, don't leave yet. We haven't settled the dinner plans, and about your bar, get me a VVVIP card that doesn't require payment," Patrick shamelessly requested.
In a good mood, Mitchell didn't glare at him. He just smiled and said casually, "Dinner is no problem. Patrick, come back tomorrow, and we'll have dinner tomorrow night." With that, he prepared to leave.
Patrick shouted after him, "Mitchell, what about the card? You promised to find Willow for me. My wife's sister is good friends with her." Patrick knew how to manipulate people and intentionally mentioned finding Willow. The mention of his wife's sister made Mitchell instantly agree to customize a card for him.
Patrick, feeling quite pleased with himself, happily took Liam out for lunch. Meanwhile, Matthew and the others, unable to match the love and care prepared by Madison in the morning, had no choice but to go out to find something to eat.
After waiting for a while in Mitchell's office, Willow saw him coming in with food. "Hungry?" he asked as soon as he entered. Willow shook her head; she had already eaten the breakfast Mitchell bought in the morning, so she wasn't hungry. While setting up the table for lunch, she casually asked, "Mitchell, where did you just go?"
Mitchell smiled and replied, "I was with Matthew in his office. Patrick was keeping me there after the meeting."
"Did Five Brother come to the company today? Why didn't he come to find me? There are many places we could have gone together," Willow remarked. Whenever Patrick came to the company, he would definitely ask her out for a meal, especially to some nice places.
Mitchell seemed slightly unhappy, saying, "He went to eat with Liam."
Seeing Mitchell sitting far away, not saying anything, Willow couldn't help but laugh. "That's just Five Brother," she explained.
Mitchell slowly got up and walked over. After some thought, he said, "Don't go out with Patrick too much in the future. I'll take you to eat good food." He was clearly not pleased.
Willow nodded in agreement, "Let's eat quickly. The food is getting cold."
This old man in love not only acts childish but also gets jealous.
Madison happily scrolled through Mitchell's Stories, even giving a like when she saw the hand-holding photo. She immediately recognized Willow's hand because of the bracelet she had gifted her.
She was ecstatic—first, Matthew unexpectedly regained his memory, then Rachel and Nicholas got together, and now Willow and Mitchell, this pair of secretly admiring each other, had finally blossomed. It was truly worth celebrating.
In the evening, when Matthew returned home, Madison couldn't wait to talk about arranging a dinner with everyone. Matthew informed her that they had already planned to have dinner together the following evening, with Mitchell as the host, and Victor would also be back.
Originally, Madison wanted to invite everyone to their house for dinner, but Matthew didn't want his wife to work so hard cooking. Since Mitchell was hosting, their presence at the dinner was all that mattered.
The two little ones were taken by Great-grandfather to the old mansion, giving Matthew and Madison a rare moment alone. Matthew didn't want to waste it; as soon as they entered the house, he loosened his tie, picked her up, and headed upstairs amidst Madison's surprised exclamations.
