Chapter 432 Going to Meet the Idol
Willow woke up early the next morning.
Despite going to bed late, she slept deeply and woke up at dawn. She instinctively checked the spot beside her ; Mitchell wasn't there, probably off to work. She eagerly reached for her phone and immediately started messaging in the group chat with her two friends.
Willow: [Girls, I met Joseph in Maple City.]
Danielle responded right away.
Danielle: [What's so shocking about meeting Joseph? I see him on TV every day.]
Willow: [I mean, I met him in person!]
Danielle: [Is Joseph in Maple City recently? How come there's no news about it? What kind of event? How close were you? Did you take any pictures?]
Ophelia quickly followed up with a message.
Ophelia: [Wasn't he promoting a movie in the U.S. just a few days ago? How did he end up in Maple City?]
Both of them were very interested in Joseph's whereabouts.
Willow: [It was super, super close... like, really close.]
Ophelia: [How close? Did you guys have dinner together or something?]
Willow: [How did you know?]
Danielle: [What!]
Ophelia: [I was just guessing! You actually did?]
Before Willow could explain, Danielle called her.
"Danielle, I really met Joseph, and I even got autographed photos for you guys, a lot of them!" Willow excitedly said as soon as she answered the call.
"What's going on in Maple City? Weren't you there with my brother? How did you end up meeting Joseph and having dinner with him?" Danielle asked in disbelief.
"Joseph knows Mitchell and Victor really well, and he's also close with Matthew and the others. He lives in Maple City. Last night, I went to his house for dinner with Mitchell and Victor. I'm telling you, his cooking is amazing, and he's even more charming in person than in the movies. He's super handsome and really nice, not cool and aloof at all. You'd be totally smitten if you met him," Willow said with a smile.
"Willow, which hotel are you staying at in Maple City?" Danielle asked.
After Willow told her the hotel name, there was a brief silence. Willow called out a few times, but she didn't respond.
Puzzled, Willow asked, "Danielle, are you still there?"
"Willow, I've decided. I'm booking a flight to Maple City right now," Danielle said decisively, without a hint of hesitation.
Willow could already imagine her booking the earliest flight to Maple City as soon as she hung up.
Remembering that Mitchell mentioned they were planning to return to Horizon City, Willow quickly reminded her, "Danielle, but Mitchell said yesterday that we're planning to go back to Horizon City. He's at the office now; I don't know if he's already bought the tickets."
"Even if he has, I'll make him cancel them. Just wait for me in Maple City and take me to find Joseph. I can't believe my brother knew Joseph and kept this from us. I'm so mad," Danielle said, fuming.
"Are you sure you can take time off work? You've been really busy" Willow asked.
"Don't worry, I've got a way," Danielle said, "Damn, there are no flights to Maple City today. Wait for me; I'll be there tomorrow. Gotta go, need to book my ticket."
With that, Danielle hung up in a hurry.
Willow checked her phone and saw that Ophelia had mentioned she was starting a shoot and would chat later. So, she didn't reply further and got up to wash her face and brush her teeth.
After hanging up, Danielle was busy looking up flights and booking a ticket when Cheryl suddenly appeared behind her and asked, "What are you doing?"
Danielle said, "Do you walk without making any noise? You scared me!"
Cheryl innocently touched her nose. "You were just too engrossed in your phone. I've been standing here for a while."
"Don't you have anything else to do? You're always wandering around the set," Danielle asked irritably.
Cheryl was a major investor in the film and often showed up on set, especially around her.
"I'm working right now," Cheryl said shamelessly, then leaned in to glance at her phone.
Danielle had found the earliest flight to Maple City for the next day and was about to book it.
Cheryl noticed the screen and raised an eyebrow. "Are you going to Maple City?"
"Yeah."
"Why are you going to Maple City?" Cheryl pressed.
In a rare good mood, Danielle explained, "I'm going to see my idol Joseph. Willow met him in Maple City and even had dinner with him. She said Joseph lives there. I wish I could fly there right now."
Cheryl blurted out with a dark expression, "You can't go."
Danielle paused, looking up at Cheryl in confusion. "Are you crazy? What does it matter to you if I go to Maple City? Who are you to tell me I can't go?"
She ignored Cheryl and continued booking her ticket.
Suddenly, Cheryl clutched his stomach and squatted down, looking in extreme pain.
Danielle turned to him. "Are you okay?"
Cheryl seemed too pained to speak, so Danielle quickly squatted down to support him. "What's wrong?"
"Pain..." Cheryl managed to utter.
They were in the lounge with no one else around, so Danielle had to help him out and drive him to the hospital. After all, they had known each other since childhood, and despite their frequent bickering, she couldn't just leave him in pain.
At the hospital, the doctor said it was acute appendicitis and that Cheryl needed surgery.
Danielle was stunned.
How did it suddenly come to this?
And with his parents out of the country, Danielle was a bit scared. Since she wasn't a family member, she couldn't sign the consent form, so Cheryl had to sign it himself. After he was wheeled into surgery, Danielle waited outside and decided to cancel her flight to Maple City.
She couldn't just leave someone who had just had surgery alone in the hospital.
It was a pity! She would have to wait the next time to meet her idol, Joseph.
Willow later received a call from Danielle and found out she couldn't come.
"I think I'll be heading back soon anyway. There will definitely be other chances to meet him. He's really close with Mitchell and the others, and he even mentioned coming to Horizon City," Willow said with a smile.
"Really? Then hurry back and bring me the autographed photos first," Danielle said, perking up again.
