Chapter 517 Feeling Uncomfortable
Amy and the project manager had just left when Willow, yawning, pushed open the lounge door and walked out. She wasn't wearing her down jacket since the office was warm, so her dress suit made her baby bump quite noticeable.
Mitchell heard the noise and turned. His stern face softened, and he walked over to Willow with a smile. "Why are you up? Did something wake you, or is the baby being fussy?"
He remembered napping with her earlier, and she usually slept a long time. Today, she must've been woken by the interns.
Looking drowsy, Willow squinted and walked with Mitchell to the sofa. She had woken up shortly after Mitchell left and heard him scolding someone. She felt embarrassed to come out until everyone had left.
"Aren't you going to sleep more? Is the baby behaving?" Mitchell asked, leading her to the sofa and looking lovingly at her belly.
Willow shook her head. "No, I can't sleep anymore."
"I'll get you some fresh milk. I have a meeting this afternoon and might not be back until late." Mitchell got up to get milk from the fridge.
The fresh milk was always for Willow. After she got pregnant and stopped coming to the office, there were still a few bottles left, so he drank them and kept stocking up.
He brought her favorite strawberry milk. Willow's eyes lit up. She thought she wouldn't get to drink it this time. She didn't know Mitchell had also gotten used to having fresh milk daily.
She took the bottle and sipped. Some milk stayed on her lips, making her look adorably confused, like a young girl rather than someone about to be a mom.
Mitchell was a bit dazed, remembering Willow in middle school, wearing her uniform and carrying a backpack, always quickly greeting him before running off.
Feeling his intense gaze, Willow quickly said, "Honey, I'm going to walk around the office. You go ahead and get busy."
"Okay, but don't wander too far. If you get tired, rest in the lounge," Mitchell's voice was hoarse with concern.
"I know. I'm not a kid anymore. I know the office well," Willow replied with a smile.
"Be careful with your belly and avoid crowded places," Mitchell reminded her again.
"Got it." Willow felt Mitchell was starting to act like an old man, always worrying.
She stood up, holding the milk, and walked out of Mitchell's office with her belly sticking out.
Mitchell watched her walk away, her figure reflected in the glass until she was out of sight. He smiled, shook off the reverie, and returned to work with high efficiency.
Willow first went to the top floor to greet Matthew. The people in the top floor's secretarial office all knew her.
When Willow and Mitchell announced their relationship, it was such a big deal that everyone got a bonus. So, when they saw her, they were super enthusiastic.
Willow greeted everyone briefly and then headed to Matthew's office.
Matthew was surprised to see her. "What brings you here?"
"I missed you, Matthew," Willow said playfully.
"Yeah, right. You must be here to see Mitchell and just dropped by to see me," Matthew teased, laughing.
Willow grinned, not denying it. She was indeed there to see Mitchell and just dropped by to see her big brother and the others.
"With that big belly, you shouldn't be running around. Stay home and rest. The office is busy. It's not safe for you," Matthew said with concern.
Hearing him nag like Mitchell, Willow quickly wanted to escape.
As she was about to leave, Matthew took a bag from his drawer and handed it to her. It had a box of sea cucumbers and some unopened prenatal vitamins.
Madison had given them to him in the morning to bring to Mitchell for Willow.
He didn't expect Willow to come to the office today, so he gave the bag to her.
"Madison prepared this for you. She was going to have Mitchell bring it home, but since you're here, you can take it yourself," Matthew said gently.
Willow remembered Madison mentioning on the phone yesterday that she had stocked up on prenatal vitamins. She smiled and took the bag, saying, "Thank you, and thank Madison for me."
Matthew affectionately patted her head, looking at her swollen belly, feeling emotional about how quickly time had passed. The little sister he had watched grow up was now about to become a mother.
Matthew had a meeting, so he walked out of the office with Willow.
Today, Victor and Patrick were not at the office, and Liam was also out.
So, after leaving Matthew's office, Willow took the bag and went straight to the fifteenth floor by elevator.
In the elevator, she sent a Facebook message to Elizabeth, saying she was at the office and coming to see her.
Elizabeth didn't reply, so Willow guessed she was busy and decided to find her directly.
When Willow got to the fifteenth floor, she had just stepped out of the elevator when she ran into Savannah and another shorter intern she had seen before.
Because of her big belly, Willow walked slowly and moved aside to let them pass, carrying her things.
The two interns, full of youthful energy, walked past her, chatting and laughing.
As they passed by, Willow overheard their conversation.
The shorter girl asked, "Savannah, did you see Mr. Jonah today?"
Savannah replied shyly, "Yes, but the secretarial office stopped me, and Mr. Jonah scolded me."
The shorter girl flattered her, "Mr. Jonah is so nice to you. You're so pretty. You'll definitely get to stay after the internship."
"Come on, you shouldn't talk about these things publicly," Savannah said, pretending to be modest.
Willow's heart sank. Every time she ran into this girl, she was always talking about her husband. That blatant attention made her very uncomfortable. But growing up, she had always been protected by her brothers and had Danielle stand up for her. She really didn't know how to deal with this situation.
