Chapter 444 Wedding Preparations
After the drone proposal, Willow and Mitchell's wedding was finally on the agenda.
Jessica and Richard couldn't wait to discuss the wedding with Willow's parents.
Mitchell had always been independent, handling everything on his own since he was a child, never causing his parents any worry. The only thing that had concerned Jessica was his reluctance to find a partner.
When he got together with Willow, she couldn't have been happier. Although Mitchell didn't need much from them, they felt it was their duty to step in when necessary, ensuring they didn't hold him back.
Willow's parents, knowing the couple was planning their wedding, made a special trip from Seaspring Valley City to Horizon City to meet with Mitchell's parents and discuss the wedding.
At the Imperial Hotel, in a private dining room on the top floor, the two families were discussing Willow and Mitchell's wedding.
Willow's parents had just arrived in Horizon City that noon, Mitchell and Willow went to pick them up.
Mitchell's apartment had only one room, so it wasn't suitable for them to stay with them. His parents had rented out their old house in the family compound to a young couple when they retired and decided to travel, charging a sufficient amount for rent to help look after the place.
At that time, Lloyd and Patricia had bought the apartment Willow used to live in, as it was close to A University and convenient.
Since Willow moved in with Mitchell, her old apartment had been uninhabited for quite some time. The furniture were covered in dust and hadn't been cleaned for some time.
After discussing it with her parents, they decided to book a hotel for their stay, finding it more convenient and centrally located.
After picking up Lloyd and Patricia from the airport, Mitchell and Willow took them directly to the Imperial Hotel.
The Imperial Hotel, owned by Cheryl's family, was the top five-star hotel in Horizon City, located by the river. Rooms above the tenth floor offered river views, while the higher floors boasted more beautiful scenery.
The top floor featured a revolving restaurant, and private dining rooms were hard to book. They often entertained guests here, and Victor stayed here whenever he returned to the country. That evening, Mitchell had arranged with Cheryl to reserve a private dining room on the top floor for both families to discuss wedding details.
It was more of a family gathering than a formal meeting, with Jessica and Richard bringing Daniel, and Willow's side represented by Lloyd and Patricia. They ordered a table full of dishes, chatting and catching up before finally discussing the wedding towards the end of the evening.
Jessica, smiling, said to Patricia, "I'm so happy that Willow likes our quiet Mitchell."
As soon as she said this, Mitchell raised an eyebrow, and Willow stifled a laugh. Jessica was quite funny, and she wasn't exactly quiet herself. Daniel couldn't help but give Jessica a thumbs up.
Patricia, also smiling, praised Mitchell, "Mitchell is mature and stable. I'm at ease with Willow being with him."
Mitchell and Willow, sitting next to each other, exchanged glances and smiled.
Under the table, Mitchell held her hand tightly. Both sets of parents looked at the couple with satisfaction. Only Daniel, sitting to the side, regretted coming.
The main purpose of the meeting was to set the wedding date, primarily discussed by Jessica and Patricia. The fathers agreed with whatever their wives suggested, quietly drinking on the side.
After their discussion, the mothers decided on December 12th for the wedding, giving them less than two months to prepare, which was still manageable.
Jessica took charge of all the preparations, and the topic of dowries and bridal gifts wasn't even mentioned, as both families were relaxed about it, focusing on a joyful wedding.
The families chatted and ate until it was past nine o'clock before parting ways.
Willow escorted her parents back to their room before heading downstairs, where only Mitchell was waiting at the hotel entrance. She ran over, smiling. "Have your parents and Daniel gone back?" she asked, attentively.
In the cool late October night of Horizon City, Mitchell adjusted her coat and held her hand, smiling. He gently replied, "Yes, Daniel drove them back."
"Shall we head back too?" Willow asked, her eyes sparkling with happiness. It was clear she was in a great mood.
Why wouldn't she be? She was genuinely happy; she was going to marry Mitchell.
"Do you want to take a walk before we go back?" Mitchell asked, gently touching her head.
The riverbank was beautifully lit, with several illuminated boats leisurely sailing by.
Mitchell knew she loved eating seafood, he had been peeling crabs and shrimp for her, and she also had several abalones. Feeling a bit full, she nodded and smiled in agreement. She replied, "Okay."
They walked hand in hand along the riverside path, among several other strollers.
The path was separated from a jogging track by a few meters, where more people were night running in this area.
Even though it was almost ten o'clock, the city's nightlife was in full swing, bustling with activity.
After walking for about twenty minutes, the cool breeze by the river made Willow's hands cold despite her long-sleeved dress.
Mitchell, noticing her cold hands, quickly took off his jacket and wrapped it around her. Then he suggested, "Let's go home."
Willow agreed, "Okay." With Mitchell now in just a thin shirt, they decided to head back sooner.
After walking for twenty minutes, she didn't feel as full. They turned back, slowly walking to the hotel's parking lot to get the car and drove back to Mitchell's apartment.
They had decided to continue living in this apartment after the wedding, since it was a new place that Mitchell hadn't used much.
The apartment was conveniently close to their workplaces and daily amenities.
Jessica and Richard had long ago bought and renovated a villa each for Mitchell and Daniel in the same neighborhood, just three rows apart, as for their honeymoon house.
The honeymoon house would remain empty for now, and if Willow got pregnant in the future, Lloyd and Patricia, along with Jessica and Richard, could move in to help take care of them.
