Chapter 511 Taking the Initiative
When Willow was six months pregnant, her belly was already showing. With her morning sickness gone, her appetite came back strong. She quickly regained the weight she lost early on and kept gaining more.
Mitchell also put on some pounds because he always finished Willow's leftovers whenever she had cravings.
After her morning sickness stopped, Willow not only ate more but also got really sleepy.
Mitchell insisted she stay home, even though he went back to work after her fourth month. Matthew also returned to work after Joy turned one month old. Both of them couldn't stop talking about being dads and earning money for baby formula.
Finally, Patrick had enough and snapped, "Matthew, Mitchell, you two need to stop!"
Matthew and Mitchell exchanged glances and said together, "You don't have kids, so you don't get how hard it is to earn money for a baby."
Patrick shouted, "Just because I don't have kids doesn't mean I'm not working hard! Don't you see how busy I am every day?" He then called out to Victor and Liam, "Victor, Liam, back me up! Matthew and Mitchell are being too much."
Victor just raised an eyebrow and kept looking at his documents, while Liam pretended not to hear by touching his nose. They were used to Matthew showing off his kids, and now with Mitchell joining in, they didn't want to argue.
Once Willow's condition stabilized, Lloyd and Patricia went back to Seaspring Valley, planning to return closer to her due date. They weren't comfortable staying at The Jonah Residence for too long and felt uneasy if they didn't read at least two books a day. They had no worries since Mitchell was taking great care of Willow, and her parents-in-law were very attentive.
Willow agreed, saying she had a great appetite and could eat and sleep well. Mitchell was very careful in taking care of her as well.
But he seemed overly cautious. Even though the risky first three months were over, he still didn't dare to touch Willow.
At night, after they both showered and got into bed, Mitchell turned on the small speaker to play soft music and started reading a book for prenatal education as usual. He lay there, talking to Willow's growing belly, telling stories to their unborn baby.
Willow watched him seriously and felt a bit unhappy. Her emotions were all over the place during pregnancy, and she found herself jealous of her own child, something that would never have happened before.
Lying there, she looked at Mitchell's profile and started to overthink. She had gained so much weight, had some small spots on her face, and felt unattractive.
Did Mitchell not look at her anymore?
She remembered reading online that men often cheat during their partner's pregnancy because they're not sexually satisfied.
This thought made Willow uneasy. It had been a while since they were intimate, and Mitchell now slept far away from her. Since he started working again, she didn't see him in the morning because he left before she woke up. They only saw each other after he came home, and their time together had significantly decreased. Sometimes, Willow felt lonely during her afternoon naps.
If Mitchell worked late, she might already be in bed when he got home.
The more Willow thought about it, the more she felt this couldn't continue.
Just then, Mitchell finished reading a fairy tale, closed the book, and got ready to sleep.
Willow shifted into what she thought was a seductive pose, cleared her throat, and coyly said, "Honey," while her foot subtly rubbed against Mitchell's thigh.
Mitchell, kneeling by her belly, looked at Willow lying on her side in a loose nightgown, with her large maternity underwear faintly visible underneath. The small spots on her face made her look even more adorable. Her sweet, soft voice made him feel a rush of heat.
Mitchell knelt there, staring at Willow, and unconsciously swallowed, his Adam's apple moving up and down, making Willow feel tingly inside. Seeing his lack of reaction, she lifted the hem of her nightgown a bit higher. "Honey, my thigh feels uncomfortable. Can you massage it for me? Maybe I walked too much today."
She found an excuse, determined to win over Mitchell tonight.
When she lifted her nightgown, Mitchell forced himself to look away, his voice hoarse. "Where does it hurt? I'll come back earlier to walk with you."
His warm hand gently massaged Willow's thigh but stopped after a short while. "I need to go to the bathroom."
He needed to take a shower immediately; seeing his beloved woman like this in front of him, it would be abnormal not to feel anything.
Willow saw Mitchell's face turn red and felt delighted. As Mitchell was about to get off the bed, she grabbed him, causing him to fall onto the bed. He tried to get up in a panic, but Willow placed a leg over him, preventing him from moving. He didn't dare to move too much, afraid of hurting her, and his voice was even more hoarse. "Honey, let me get up, okay?"
"No," Willow giggled and refused, rubbing her leg against Mitchell and continuing to call, "Honey, hug me."
Mitchell lay on the bed, feeling his whole body heat up, but he still tried to resist, controlling himself. He was genuinely scared after Willow's severe morning sickness and didn't want to risk anything, even though the doctor said it was safe after three months.
Willow moved closer, rubbing against him and calling, "Honey."
Mitchell closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, they were filled with desire. He flipped over, gently placing her beneath him, and lowered his head to kiss her.
