Chapter 529 Finally Launched

After the due date passed without any news of the baby's arrival, Mitchell and Willow received numerous concerned phone calls.

The Facebook group of Mitchell and his friends was usually quiet, with only Patrick being somewhat active, sharing weird stuff that the others mostly ignored.

Now that Willow was two days past her due date, Patrick started becoming active in the group again.

Patrick: [Mitchell, has Willow given birth yet? What's going on? I'm ready to visit you and the baby at the hospital. @Mitchell.]

Mitchell: [The doctor said it should be in the next couple of days.]

Patrick: [Why am I feeling a bit nervous? Willow's going to be a mom! Can you believe that?]

Matthew: [It's understandable for Mitchell to be nervous, but why are you nervous?]

Patrick: [Can't I be nervous on behalf of Mitchell?]

Liam: [Mitchell is so nervous he can't sleep at night. I haven't seen you lose any sleep.]

Patrick: [Liam! Am I not your favorite buddy anymore?]

Liam: [I'm straight. Stop being gross.]

Patrick: [What's gross about it? We're clearly just close brothers.]

Matthew: [You guys should get back to work and share Mitchell's load. He'll be busy once Willow gives birth.]

Patrick: [Victor, come back soon. @Victor.]

Victor: [I'll be in Horizon City tonight.]

Patrick: [Only Victor truly loves me.]

The other guys stopped responding to Patrick, who spammed the group with emojis and tagged each brother, but no one replied.

Feeling bored, Patrick tried to contact Willow, but she didn't respond because her water had just broken, and she was genuinely too busy to deal with him.

Mitchell and Willow had just finished lunch and gone upstairs for a nap.

After Willow fell asleep, Mitchell stayed by her side, browsing the web on his phone and chatting in the group. Just as he put his phone down, he saw Willow groggily open her eyes and try to sit up.

Mitchell quickly went to support her, asking, "Honey, what's wrong?"

Willow felt her pants were a bit wet and, looking at Mitchell with a teary voice, said, "Honey, I think I peed my pants."

Mitchell was stunned for a moment, then quickly lifted the blanket to find Willow's pajama pants indeed wet. He was momentarily at a loss but tried to comfort her, "It's okay, honey. I'll get you some clean pajamas, and you can wash up and change."

He thought it was just a late-pregnancy accident.

At that moment, Jessica came upstairs with some snacks for Willow. She knocked, but finding the door unlocked, she gently pushed it open.

"Willow," she entered with a smile, "Mommy made you some fresh fish gelatin for your afternoon snack."

Her eyes lifted, and she froze, catching sight of Mitchell about to take off Willow's pants. She awkwardly turned around. "Why didn't you lock the door?"

Jessica thought they were about to do something intimate and was about to take the snacks away when she realized something was off. She put the fish gelatin on a nearby cabinet and rushed over. "You jerk, do you know what time it is? How can you do this now? Don't you have any common sense? Even if you don't, didn't the doctor tell you that you can't do this in late pregnancy? Can't you control yourself? Willow, how can you let him do this? You need to look out for yourself. Your body, you rules."

Jessica pulled Mitchell away and started scolding him. Willow, who had been on the verge of tears, now felt like laughing, finding the situation both awkward and funny. She knew she'd be chuckling about this every time she remembered it.

Mitchell quickly cut Jessica off. "Mom, hang on a second."

"Explain yourself. How can you deny it, huh? I saw with my own eyes!" Jessica crossed her arms, still angry, glaring at Mitchell. "When your dad gets back, I'll have him give you a good beating. Willow's belly is so big now, and all you think about is yourself."

Willow, blushing, hurried to explain for Mitchell, "Mom, Mitchell wasn't trying to do that. I think I peed my pants, and he was just trying to help me change."

The more she spoke, the quieter her voice became, feeling embarrassed about the situation.

Jessica seemed to focus only on the first part. "Willow, stop defending him!"

Mitchell stood by without arguing.

After a couple of minutes, Jessica finally realized. "Are you two so nervous that you've become stupid? Willow, it's not that you peed your pants. Your water broke! Hurry up and get ready to go to the hospital. Pack the delivery bag. I'll call the hospital to prepare. Quick, Mitchell, carry Willow downstairs. We'll go together."

Mitchell finally understood, scooped Willow up, and rushed downstairs.

Jessica followed with the suitcase, and the three of them headed straight to the hospital.

When they arrived, doctors and nurses were already waiting at the entrance, the same private hospital where Madison had given birth.

Willow was immediately taken to the delivery room for an examination. On the way, she had already started feeling intermittent, mild contractions. She was a bit anxious and scared but tried to hold it in.

In the delivery room, the doctor put her on oxygen and a fetal heart monitor, and clipped something to her finger, which made her even more frightened. Alone in the small hospital bed, she tried to stay calm.

The contractions grew stronger, and the mix of fear and anticipation was overwhelming.

The nurse occasionally checked the fetal heart monitor.

Lying there, Willow kept thinking about Mitchell. She didn't know that her husband could be with her during labor, so she thought she would be alone until the baby was born. She regretted not saying a few more words to Mitchell before being rushed in.

When the pain became unbearable, and she was sweating profusely, she looked up to see Mitchell in sterile clothing standing before her. Her tears, which she had been holding back, instantly streamed down her cheeks, and she cried out, "Honey, I'm scared."

Mitchell immediately started crying.
