Chapter 362 Unexpected Guest
Willow stepped onto the sixteenth floor and just as she reached Mitchell's office door, she happened to meet Mitchell's secretary, Amy, coming out of his office. Amy looked at Willow with a smile. "Willow, you're here."
Willow blushed, lowered her head, and softly replied. Amy was quite familiar with her, but she never expected Mitchell's girlfriend to be Willow. However, Willow seemed quite compatible with Mitchell. No wonder she had been promptly rejected when she offered to introduce him to potential dates; it appeared he had his sights set on Willow early on.
Amy smiled and gestured for Willow to enter before saying, "Thank you, Willow. We all enjoyed quite a few benefits last night."
Feeling embarrassed, Willow quickly escaped into Mitchell's office.
Mitchell was sitting behind his desk, focused on his computer, when he heard a sound and looked up to see Willow standing at the door. He immediately set down his pen, stood up, and walked towards her.
"Why did you come up?" Mitchell asked softly. He was surprised to see Willow coming up to him today, as she had been reluctant to do so before.
"To deliver some documents," Willow mumbled, handing over the folder in her hand.
Mitchell walked up to her, took her wrist, and asked with a smile, "How's work today?" Despite having already addressed the issue of the leaked photos, he still worried that she might feel uncomfortable.
Willow placed the folder in Mitchell's arms and pouted childishly. "It's fine, except I didn't get any benefits last night."
The rumors had been quelled by the benefits Mitchell provided, so there was nothing for her to worry about.
Mitchell chuckled. "Who said you won't get any benefits."
He then took out his phone, tapped a few times, and showed Willow the screen. Feeling the vibration of her phone, Willow checked and saw that Mitchell had transferred $99999 to her. She looked at her phone, then back at Mitchell's smiling face, feeling truly embarrassed.
"Mitchell, that's not what I meant. I don't want the money." She had only felt left out seeing everyone else benefit so much, thinking her luck had run out; otherwise, she could have surely gotten a few lucky draws.
Mitchell took her phone, accepted the money on her behalf, and said, "I'll make sure to inform you in advance before the next round of benefits. I'll wait until you're ready before sending them. Consider this as pocket money."
"I have money." Willow felt like she was coming up just for benefits.
"I know, but I want you to spend my money," Mitchell said, pulling her into a hug. It was great that he could openly summon Willow to work with him during office hours now. The days at work had felt so long before without her presence.
Willow, who had gone to deliver documents but was held back by Mitchell, ended up spending two hours in Mitchell's office. Mitchell worked efficiently in the morning, finishing all the day's tasks. Although he was at his computer, he kept looking up at Willow from time to time, feeling happy just seeing her there.
After finalizing the collaboration plans in Mitchell's office, Willow closed her laptop, returned it to Mitchell, and mentioned she had to go back to her office. If she stayed any longer, she would be having lunch with Mitchell, proving the manager's teasing right.
Reluctantly letting her go, Mitchell thought about setting up a desk for her in his office so they could work together directly. However, he quickly dismissed the idea after Willow declined, realizing it wouldn't be appropriate for someone to work in the CEO's office.
Finally, Willow agreed to have lunch with him, and Mitchell let her go. It had been a long time since they had lunch together, and Mitchell was looking forward to it.
At noon, Elizabeth had already ordered takeout. After benefiting so much from Mitchell, she felt it was only right to be considerate. Therefore, she hadn't even considered making plans to have lunch with Willow.
Willow messaged Mitchell on Facebook, then headed to the lobby to wait for him. As she arrived in the lobby, the receptionist immediately waved at her. "Willow!" They had a good relationship, always exchanging greetings when they met. Willow walked over with a smile. The receptionist pointed to a lady sitting on the sofa in the corner and said, "Willow, I was just about to call your office phone. This lady over here is looking for you."
"Looking for me?" Willow was puzzled as she looked at the lady; she sat up straight and seemed quite elegant. Although she seemed familiar, Willow couldn't place her. She appeared to be around her mother's age, but Willow didn't recognize any aunties from Horizon City who would come looking for her at the company.
Approaching the lady, Willow politely said, "Excuse me, I heard you were looking for me."
The lady hesitated for a moment, then turned to face Willow with a faint smile. "You've grown up so much, Willow." Willow scrutinized the woman standing before her. Dressed in a well-tailored suit, she exuded elegance despite a hint of weariness and light wrinkles on her face; it was evident that she must have been a beauty in her youth, with the grace of a refined lady.
After staring at her for a moment, Willow felt a hint of familiarity but couldn't recall who she was. She asked in confusion, "And you are?"
The lady smiled faintly. "It's been so long since we last met, and you probably don't recognize me. We met when you were young. I'm Jimmy's mother."
Willow was surprised to learn that she was Jimmy's mother. No wonder she seemed familiar; Jimmy and his mother shared a resemblance, especially in their eyes, which were both beautiful.
Willow paused for a moment, then raised a smile and greeted her, "Hello, Mrs. Cox."
Still puzzled, Willow hadn't been in touch with Jimmy since he invited her to school last time. Neither had reached out to the other, perhaps not wanting to give false hope.
'So, why would Jimmy's mother suddenly come looking for me?' she wondered.
