Chapter 447 Getting the Marriage Certificate
Mitchell got up early, even earlier than usual, and had already gone back to the Jonah Residence to get his household registration certificate.
Then, he spent almost an hour getting dressed and fixing his hair.
Last night, while Willow was asleep, he called Jessica and Richard in the middle of the night to wake them up and ask for the household registration certificate.
When Jessica received the call, she was still groggy and it took a full minute for her to realize what he was asking for.
Then, she screamed loudly, muttering, "Oh my God, how could we forget such an important thing? Mitchell, are you getting the marriage certificate with Willow? When? Now?"
Mitchell specifically moved to the balcony, but he still underestimated Jessica's excitement. He quickly glanced back at the person sleeping in bed.
Fortunately, Willow was still asleep.
Even if Jessica asked if it was happening right now, no matter how capable he was, he couldn't make the Civil Affairs Bureau open for him at that time. Otherwise, he wouldn't wait for the break of dawn to get things done.
"Tomorrow morning, I'll go get the certificate. Please help me prepare it," Mitchell said to Jessica.
Jessica nodded repeatedly in agreement on the other line, She assured him, "Okay, Mitchell, don't worry. I will find it right away and won't let you down at this crucial moment."
As she spoke, she immediately climbed out of bed and opened the safe in the room. All important things were kept in the safe, and the household registration book must be in there.
Richard, hearing the noise, saw Jessica squatting in front of the safe and rubbed his eyes, asking, "What are you doing up in the middle of the night?"
Without turning her head, Jessica replied, "Looking for the household registration book for our son. He's getting the marriage certificate with Willow tomorrow. Why can't I find it? It should be in the safe."
Richard got excited too and climbed out of bed. He quickly suggested, "Let me do it. It must be here."
Jessica stood up and stepped aside, and sure enough, Richard found it immediately.
Jessica took the household registration book, she shared a smile with Richard, feeling like they had completed a major task together.
Mitchell knew that Willow had her household registration book with her. When she moved in, he had helped her unpack, and he had seen her put it in the drawer of their bedroom.
When Willow went to college, she had her household registration transferred to the school, and after graduation, she moved it back to her old house.
At that time, Lloyd and Patricia had already transferred their household registration to Seaspring Valley City, so now the old house was solely under her name.
Mitchell saw in the mirror that Willow had woken up, sitting on the bed with her eyes half-closed. He finished adjusting his clothes and turned to look at her.
Willow rubbed her eyes groggily, got out of bed, and prepared to wash up. She didn't forget to say to Mitchell, "Good morning, Mitchell."
Seeing that he was already dressed, she quickly brushed her teeth and washed her face, put on light makeup, and came out of the bathroom with a high ponytail, looking youthful and pure, like a college student who hadn't graduated yet.
Mitchell saw her come out and handed her a white dress he had picked out for her, smiling as he said, "Wear this one."
Willow paused for a moment and took the dress.
Had Mitchell been waiting for a long time today? He even picked out her clothes. She silently turned around and went back to the bathroom with the dress.
Actually, Mitchell was wearing a white shirt underneath, so he chose this white dress for Willow. He had checked online last night that the wedding certificate photo had a red background. If he took off his suit jacket, they would be wearing matching outfits.
The plan he had was indeed thoughtful, and it was well-considered.
Willow changed into the dress and came out, seeing him still in the room, seemingly waiting for her. She looked up and studied him carefully. Mitchell seemed a bit different today.
Seeing that she had changed, Mitchell walked over, took her hand, and they walked out of the room together.
Breakfast was already set on the dining table in the living room. There was milk and sandwiches prepared for them.
Willow ate happily as usual, but today Mitchell seemed to barely eat, just smiling and looking at her from time to time.
Puzzled, she touched her face and asked, "Mitchell, is there something on my face?"
Mitchell leaned in close, looked carefully, and shook his head. He gently said, "No."
It was really clean!
Willow had fair and delicate skin, and even up close, you couldn't see any pores. She usually wore light makeup to work to add some color. If she wasn't working, she mostly went barefaced, maybe just applying a bit of primer.
Was there really nothing? Why did Mitchell keep staring at her and smiling? It was strange.
After finishing breakfast, they left together.
Mitchell drove, and after a while, Willow noticed that his car was turning left. They usually turned right at this intersection to go to work. She thought he had taken a wrong turn and quickly reminded him, "Mitchell, it's a right turn here. You took the wrong turn."
Mitchell calmly continued driving forward, smiling as he looked ahead. He calmly remarked, "Really? Maybe I remembered wrong. This road will get us there too. I've taken it before."
Willow tilted her head and looked at him, half-believing and half-doubting.
Mitchell was acting strange; he had been acting strange since this morning, always smiling, with his lips curved upward the whole time. He even took the wrong turn on a road they took every day, as if he was in a very good mood.
Willow was hesitating whether to use her phone for navigation because the surrounding buildings and scenery were becoming more unfamiliar, and it seemed like they were getting farther away from the company.
"Mitchell, should I use the navigation app? Otherwise, we might be late," Willow said, unable to resist bringing up the idea of using a navigation app as it was almost 9:00 a.m..
After all, it was normal to take a wrong turn occasionally; it was not embarrassing.
He reassured her, "No need for navigation. I know a shortcut that will get us there." Mitchell stopped Willow from using navigation and turned into a small alley.
Seeing his confidence, Willow believed him and really thought they would reach the company through the alley.
So, when the car stopped at the Civil Affairs Bureau, she was completely confused, with a head full of questions.
Didn't he say the shortcut would lead to the company?
Where were they?
Why did Mitchell stop the car?
Mitchell got out first, then walked around to the passenger side to open the door for her and took her hand to help her out.
They walked directly towards the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Willow, still in a daze, looked at the big sign and then snapped back to reality. She asked dumbfoundedly, "Mitchell, why are we at the Civil Affairs Bureau?"
Seeing her confused, Mitchell smiled, and said, "Get married."
