Chapter 257 A Cold
After Madison finished her shower, Matthew was already half-lying on the bed, casually unbuttoning his pajamas. The room was dimly lit, with only the yellow light at the bedside, creating a very ambiguous atmosphere. Madison couldn't help but feel a thump in her heart as she looked at this scene of a handsome man lying on the bed. She cleared her throat and deliberately asked, "Have you finished tidying up the things on the bed?"
Matthew looked up as if casually and looked at Madison affectionately, "Yes, I put them in the closet. You can take a look tomorrow and decide what to do with them."
"Okay, we can't take all these things with us when we go out," Madison replied.
"I'll have Brian arrange for someone to come and pick them up. It's fine to bring them back to Horizon City first, don't worry." Matthew assured her. Because there were many valuable things, they couldn't trust shipping services, so it was better to have someone come and collect them.
"That's great. I was thinking about how to bring them back. I don't trust shipping services." Madison smiled, relieved that one thing was finally solved.
"Afterwards, just tell me if there's anything you need, and I'll take care of it," Matthew said to Madison. It was the first time Madison had heard him refer to himself like that, and she felt both shy and pleased. "Thank you, Matthew."
"I don't mind if you thank me in other ways," Matthew said with a smile in his eyes, looking at Madison. Madison had just finished showering, and the flush on her face had just faded away. But now it rushed back and turned her face completely red, even reaching her ears. She stammered, "I'll go check on Quentin and Hannah." She prepared to open the door and leave.
Matthew threw off the covers and got up from the bed, grabbing Madison. "They're already asleep, and their uncle will take care of them," he said.
Madison turned away from Matthew, blushing and afraid to look at him. His masculine aura was affecting her thoughts and tempting her.
But this was her parents' house. What if the soundproofing wasn't good? That would be so embarrassing.
"I'll go see if they've kicked off the covers."
"They're wearing sleeping bags, so it's okay if they kick off the covers."
"Then I'll go blow-dry my hair."
"Okay." Matthew watched her with half-dry hair as she went into the bathroom to blow-dry it.
After Madison finished blow-drying her hair and came out, Matthew was already lying back on the bed. When he saw Madison, he asked, "Is your hair dry? When you wash your hair at night, you should blow-dry it more." Madison nodded and walked slowly over. Matthew patted the spot next to him. "Rest for breakfast."
Madison lifted the covers and lay down, feeling strangely nervous and anticipatory. Who knew what Matthew would do? But he didn't do anything. He just reached out to turn off the bedside lamp and gently said, "Good night."
Madison was slightly stunned and answered, "Good night."
In the darkness, the two lay in bed. Madison couldn't fall asleep at all. She turned over lightly and faced Matthew, vaguely seeing that his eyes were closed as if he were really asleep. She turned over again and faced away from Matthew.
"Can't you sleep?" Suddenly, the man behind her spoke, his voice husky and charming.
Madison turned over and looked at the man, who was now opening his eyes and looking at her. "Did I wake you? Maybe I'm having trouble sleeping because I'm in a new place."
"I actually wasn't asleep either," Matthew said, then continued with a sad tone, "I didn't know your family was so wealthy." His voice sounded pitiful.
Madison was taken aback but quickly understood that someone was feeling insecure. She smiled and said, "Yes, because you'll make money."
In the darkness, Matthew looked at Madison's sparkling eyes, which seemed to shine into his heart like the stars in the sky. He understood her meaning, just as she understood his quirky thoughts. How fortunate he was to have such a wife. "I'm glad I married you early and have two lovely children. If it were now, my parents would probably be reluctant," Matthew joked.
"No, they're not that conservative," Madison defended her parents. Although she wasn't sure if her parents would agree to her marriage if she hadn't met Matthew first, she had already met him, and that was an unchangeable fact.
Suddenly, Matthew rolled over and pressed Madison beneath him. Madison's hands rested on his chest, and she looked shy. Matthew's sleepwear was mostly undone, and he smirked charmingly. "Since we can't sleep, let's do something else," he said. Before Madison could react, he leaned in and captured her lips, silencing any refusals. Madison's body gradually relaxed, allowing him to conquer her, desperately suppressing the sound that wanted to escape her lips.
Matthew paused and grinned mischievously. "Only we live on this floor," he said, implying what he meant. Madison glared at him playfully before he took advantage of her distraction.
Finally, Madison couldn't control the voice in her mouth and suddenly made a sound.

Willow caught a cold the day after watching the stars on the mountaintop. She had been sneezing and had a runny nose and cough, but fortunately, she didn't have a fever. She took cold medicine and spent Saturday at home. By evening, she was finally feeling better, although she still had a cough and a runny nose. However, her spirits were much improved. When Daniel called her that night, she bragged about her strong physical constitution, saying that anyone else would have had a high fever. Daniel asked her, "What were you doing on the mountaintop, watching the stars so late at night? Were you with some handsome guy?" Daniel asked casually, thinking that Willow had gone to watch the meteor shower on Friday night after seeing it in the news.
Willow hesitated and finally said, "It was Jimmy's sudden idea. He dragged me to the mountaintop." She then told Daniel that Jimmy was her grandmother's neighbor's grandson and that they had met each other when they were kids.
Daniel became excited upon hearing this. "Oh my goodness, Willow, is this like something out of a drama? You two are like the main characters, childhood playmates who make a promise, exchange tokens, and then recognize each other as they grow up, eventually falling in love."
Daniel continued to speak, becoming more and more outrageous. Willow hurriedly interrupted, "Stop, Daniel! You should switch to being a scriptwriter instead of pursuing directing."
Daniel shrugged, "That's how TV dramas are portrayed. Trust me, directors approve of this kind of storyline."
Willow couldn't help but cough twice, and Daniel told her to rest and take a day off on Monday. He insisted that she tough it out and go to work. Willow said she would see how she felt tomorrow, and if she couldn't handle it, she wouldn't go to the office. After a few more worried instructions from Daniel, he hung up the phone. When he turned around, he noticed Mitchell standing behind him, startling him.
"Mitchell, when did you come back?"
