Chapter 247 Unexpected Encounter

Willow opened the folder confusedly and saw the company name on the first page. This cooperation plan had already been finalized with Laura James' company. Was there a need to add additional agreements now? Why hadn't she heard anything about it? Willow went to the break room first and grabbed a pack of cookies and some hot water before heading upstairs.

She leisurely climbed up to the 16th floor. There weren't many people there except for Mitchell's assistant secretary and a few design experts in the project department. It was quiet. Willow didn't see anyone as she walked over and went straight to Mitchell's office.

Holding the document, she walked briskly to Mitchell's office and saw that the door was wide open. Her blood froze when she saw the two people inside. She tightly squeezed the folder, stood there dumbfounded, and felt her legs become heavy, unable to take a step.

In Mitchell's office, Mitchell stood with his back to the door while Laura stood opposite him. They were engrossed in conversation, and then suddenly, Laura hugged Mitchell and leaned in to kiss him. In a panic, Willow quickly turned around and couldn't bear to look anymore. She hastily left the scene.

Mitchell was taken aback when Laura suddenly hugged him. He didn't react immediately. It wasn't until Laura tried to kiss him that he snapped out of it and pushed her away. He was frowning and very angry. "Laura, what are you doing?"

Laura had a smug smile on her face as she glanced in the direction of the door. She had done it on purpose. She had seen Willow walking toward them in the glass door's reflection, so she hugged Mitchell out of nowhere, hoping to kiss him. She knew Mitchell would push her away, so she didn't care at all. "Why are you so angry? After all, I didn't even get to kiss you. Besides, even if I did, I would be the one at a disadvantage!"

Mitchell was frustrated, and he questioned Laura sternly. "Laura, what do you mean by all this?"

Today, Laura was wearing a fitted black dress, with her wavy hair flowing down her back. She flirtatiously brushed her hair back and said, "I thought I made myself pretty clear. I want to date you officially." She paused and blinked her eyes. "I have decided."

Mitchell furrowed his brows and coolly rejected her. "I don't have any intentions of dating you."

"Oh really? I sent you the agreement early this morning, giving you a five percent discount. And now you're saying we can't even date?" Laura lounged on the sofa, playing with her freshly done nails nonchalantly. Her tone was light, yet there was an air of confidence as if she was determined to win.

"Let the best man win. You've ceded five percent to me. Unless there's more, you're free to go. I'll inform you once the contract is finalized," Mitchell said, his face etched with severity. He loosened his tie, offered a curt nod in farewell, and turned toward his computer to immerse himself in work.

With her objective met, Laura exited with a triumphant air. Her Hermès bag is a testament to her success. Stepping out of the office, she wasted no time in making a call. Casting a final glance back at Mitchell's door, she whispered under her breath with a hint of defiance, "Hmph, I refuse to believe I can't turn the tables on you."

Willow walked downstairs in a daze and returned to her seat without any spirit. Elizabeth Wolf called her several times, but she didn't react. Elizabeth gave her a strong tap on the shoulder, startling her.

"What's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell? Your face looks so pale. I called you several times, but you didn't hear me," Elizabeth asked concernedly.

Willow snapped out of it and forced a smile. "Sorry, I didn't notice just now." She then lowered her head, pretending to tidy up her desk, not wanting anyone to notice her abnormality.

Elizabeth looked at her and said, "Stop pretending to smile. It looks worse than crying. What's going on?"

Willow stopped her actions and put on a forced smile. "Really, everything is fine. I just came back from vacation and didn't feel like working."

"I also want to come back from vacation. After finishing this job, I will definitely ask the manager for a week off to go out and have fun," Elizabeth Wolf successfully changed the topic.

Willow asked while holding a folder, "Did the manager's guests leave yet?"

"Not yet. I just brought tea in. It will probably be a while," Elizabeth casually replied. "What's up? Do you need something from the manager?"

"Yes, just now... President Jonah is busy! I couldn't bring the documents in, so I want to let the manager know and have him bring them up later. I have my period, and I'm not feeling well." Willow made an excuse for herself. She did start her period in the morning and was indeed feeling uncomfortable. She didn't want to go upstairs again.

Elizabeth thought it was something important and said boldly, "You should go get some hot water to drink. Once I finish what I'm working on, I'll bring it up for you."

Willow thanked her, then hid in the tea room.

The whole day was a blur, and she didn't do any work. The image of Mitchell and Laura James hugging each other kept haunting her mind. She already knew this day would come but never expected it to be so painful.

When she got off work, she walked out of the building lethargic with her bag. She didn't feel like cooking tonight and planned to grab something to eat outside before going back. She lowered her head and walked along the sidewalk, staring at her feet. Suddenly, she felt a shadow in front of her, someone blocking her way. She tried moving to the left, but the person followed. She then tried moving to the right, and the person followed again. Willow grew annoyed and raised her head to question what the person meant, only to see Jimmy's youthful and sunny smile enlarged in front of her face.

"Sis, done with work?" Jimmy asked with a radiant smile.

"What are you doing here?" Willow looked puzzled.

"I'm waiting for you." Jimmy stood next to Willow. "Sis, where are you planning to go? Have dinner? What do you want to eat? Grilled steak? Goulash? Drumsticks? Today, I'll treat you to a meal."

Willow looked at the person next to her, still confused, and continued walking with her head down. "I just want to be alone today."

Jimmy followed her as they walked together, endlessly talking. "You don't like any of those? No problem, I know a restaurant that you'll definitely like. Let's go, I'll take you there." Without hesitating, he grabbed Willow's arm and headed toward where he parked his motorcycle.

"What's this all about? I'm just not up for it today," Willow protested, trying to pull away, but Jimmy had already guided her to the side of his motorcycle. He handed her a helmet, reassuringly saying, "Trust me, the spot I've got in mind serves up some amazing food. I bet you'll be hooked after just one taste." With a grin, Jimmy donned his own helmet.

Willow didn't take the helmet. "I saw the paper you sent; I'll find time to revise it for you another day; today, let me have some peace." Willow turned around and prepared to leave. She really wasn't in the mood to accompany this kid today.
