Chapter 476 The Outgoing Girl
The next day, when Willow was woken up by the alarm clock, she moved slightly and found that Mitchell was still lying in bed. She was nestled in his arms, her head resting on his arm. She turned off the alarm and was about to get up when his arm tightened around her, and she heard his slightly hoarse morning voice from above. He lazily said, "Sleep a little longer."
She groggily lay back down and fell asleep again. When she woke up the second time, it was half an hour later, and it was Mitchell who woke her up. Usually, she would get up half an hour earlier to have breakfast at home, but since she slept in today, she had to have breakfast on the road. Mitchell prepared a sandwich and milk for her, and she had her breakfast in the car.
After work, Jimmy called to say that he would go directly to the barbecue restaurant and meet them there. When Willow and Mitchell arrived, Jimmy was already there, and the dishes had already started to be served. Jimmy saw them come in and waved at them. Willow held Mitchell's hand and walked over.
"Have you been waiting long?" Willow asked softly as she approached.
Jimmy smiled and replied, "I haven't been here long. I called ahead to order, so the food came out quickly."
Then, he raised an eyebrow at Mitchell and said with a smile, "Mr. Jonah, how about some beer?"
"Sure," Mitchell replied and was less aloof than he had been the previous day. He had reflected the night before and realized he couldn't disregard Willow's feelings. If he kept sulking alone, she would start to overthink.
Mitchell, ever the gentleman, maintained his composure, and Jimmy seemed to hold back from saying anything inappropriate. The three of them had an unusually harmonious barbecue meal.
Willow, who had been worried, finally felt relieved. Watching Mitchell and Jimmy drink beer and chat while eating, she suddenly realized that the two were quite similar. They both spoke passionately about their favorite subjects and had surprisingly similar interests. It felt like they were a good match.
As the barbecue was coming to an end, a cute, lively girl suddenly rushed over and slapped Jimmy on the back, followed by a hearty laugh. She loudly said, "It's really you, Uncle Jimmy. What a coincidence!"
Jimmy was startled and turned around, stunned for a moment.
Willow and Mitchell, sitting at the same table, were also slightly taken aback and said nothing.
Seeing Deborah suddenly appear behind him, Jimmy frowned slightly and said with some disdain, "What are you doing here?"
Deborah was the daughter of a good friend of Cox's mother from her hometown. Although she was three or four years younger than him, according to the village's seniority, she had to call him uncle. She had gone abroad to study a month after him, just starting her freshman year.
He hadn't expected to suddenly have such a big niece, who coincidentally became his junior. The last time he saw her, she was a little kid with a runny nose following him around. It had been years, and she had really changed a lot.
Cox's mother had called him, entrusting him with the responsibility of looking after Deborah. He thought that even if other girls weren't as well-behaved as Willow, they wouldn't be as wild as Deborah, who was the most playful girl he had ever met, even wilder than boys.
Their first meeting abroad was when she called him to pick her up from a bar. When he arrived, she was already drunk out of her mind. He was shocked and dragged her back to his place outside the school, throwing her on the bed and leaving her there. The next day, he gave her a stern lecture like an elder.
To his surprise, Deborah kept stifling her laughter and said he was like an old man.
Jimmy was so angry that he didn't want to deal with her anymore. But later, when he received her calls, he would sigh deeply and go pick her up, resigned to his fate.
This time, they had returned home for the holidays together, as Cox's mother had repeatedly instructed. Jimmy couldn't refuse. After their plane landed in Horizon City, they went their separate ways. Deborah's home was in the suburbs of Horizon City, requiring another transfer.
But as soon as they arrived at the airport, she hurriedly said goodbye to Jimmy, "Uncle Jimmy, I'll take a cab home myself. I don't want to waste your time. You go ahead."
Jimmy was a bit worried but thought she was old enough not to get lost, so he didn't insist and went home with his luggage. When he got home, Cox's mother scolded him for not ensuring Deborah's safe arrival.
Hearing Jimmy's question, Deborah quickly sat down in the chair next to him, smiling brightly as she turned to Jimmy and said, "Uncle Jimmy, I did take a cab home, but halfway there, I got a call from a high school friend. She goes to A University, and we haven't seen each other in a long time, so I decided to hang out for a few days before going home. You can ask my friend if you don't believe me."
She pulled over a girl in an A University uniform, who seemed a bit shy and just nodded.
"When are you going back? Did you tell your parents?" Jimmy asked as he glanced at the person standing behind her, who indeed looked like a student from A University, so he didn't say much more.
Willow and Mitchell silently watched their interaction, noticing that Jimmy seemed like a different person in front of Deborah, especially acting like an elder.
Deborah nodded repeatedly in acknowledgment. She nonchalantly said, "I told them, they know. I'm going back tomorrow."
Then, she turned to Mitchell and Willow with a smile and said, "Are you Uncle Jimmy's friends? My name is Deborah. Madam, you're so pretty. Is that your boyfriend next to you? He's so handsome."
Deborah was the kind of person who seemed familiar with everyone.
Willow was momentarily stunned by her enthusiastic questions but quickly shook off her reverie and returned to her senses. She smiled back and replied, "Hi, I'm Willow, and this is my husband."
"Oh my gosh, Madam, are you already married? You look about our age. But with such a handsome husband, you should get married early. Who chased whom? If you have kids, they'll definitely be good-looking," Deborah chattered on, her lively personality making Willow laugh.
Willow thought to herself, 'This girl is really cute.'
Jimmy couldn't stand her any longer and quickly said, "We're done eating. Where are you staying tonight? Do you need a ride?"
"No, I'm staying in my friend's dorm, it's free. You guys go ahead, we're leaving too. Goodbye, Uncle Jimmy." Deborah waved at Willow and Mitchell as she bid them farewell, saying, "Goodbye, Madam, goodbye, Sir."
Then, she grabbed her friend's hand and dashed out of the barbecue restaurant.
