Chapter 449 The First Meal as a Legal Couple
The boss chuckled and went inside to bring out a table and chairs for the two of them. Then he came out with a small notebook and a pen, asking what they wanted to eat.
Mitchell quickly rattled off several dish names, and the boss, standing by, jotted them down quickly before interrupting, "Four dishes are already too much for just two people. You definitely won't finish more. How about just start with these four?"
"Alright," Mitchell agreed with a smile.
After the boss went inside to start cooking, Willow tilted her head and asked with a smile, "Mitchell, how did you know about this place? And how did you know what dishes they offered?"
Clearly, the boss hadn't given them a menu, yet Mitchell could name the dishes.
Mitchell smiled, his attractive thin lips curving up. He nonchalantly replied, "I asked Patrick; he recommended it."
Willow didn't expect it to be one of Patrick's recommendation. Only someone like Patrick, who loved to eat, could find such a place.
She smiled in realization. Then she remarked, "Patrick really is like a walking food encyclopedia."
The signature dishes here were creamy chicken soup and roasted lamb ribs.
When the chicken soup was brought to the table, Willow could smell the rich aroma and eagerly served herself a bowl to taste. It was indeed much better than the chicken soup from restaurants in Horizon City, with a fresh chicken flavor.
The boss said it was from their own home-raised chickens. Willow ate two bowls of soup in one go.
Besides the chicken soup, there were roasted lamb ribs, a plate of shrimp, and a plate of vegetables, all very fresh and delicious.
Mitchell originally wanted to order a fish dish as well—Patrick said the fish was also very good—but the boss said they wouldn't be able to finish it, so he didn't order it. If Willow liked it, they could come back next time; a two-hour drive wasn't too far.
After all the dishes were served, the boss additionally gave them two cakes. They hadn't ordered any main dishes, and just eating the food on the table was enough to make them very full, with some leftovers. Willow enjoyed the food so much that even when her stomach was a bit full, she was reluctant to put down her utensils.
After lunch, the boss suggested they could take a walk on the tea mountain along the way.
Willow, feeling too full, wanted to walk it off, so she pulled Mitchell along.
The mountain wasn't high; it took less than an hour to walk around. The boss said that many people usually come to play, but since it was a weekday, they didn't encounter any tourists today, only a few farmers at work.
The quietness made it feel like a hidden paradise, with no one to disturb them as they strolled hand in hand around the tea mountain.
After their walk, it was almost time to head back. Before leaving, Willow went to the boss, wanting to buy one of the chickens they had just eaten to bring back for Madison.
The boss, hearing it was for a pregnant woman, caught a chicken that had been fed for a long time and even helped clean and pack it for her. Willow was delighted.
On the return trip, they drove directly to Nelson Mansion.
On the way, Willow called Madison, but she didn't mention the chicken, only saying they were coming to see her and the two little ones.
By the time they got back to Horizon City, it was getting dark. They arrived at Nelson Mansion around six o'clock and coincidentally met Matthew returning home from work at the door. The three of them went inside together.
Valerie was overjoyed to hear that Willow had brought a chicken for them. It was quite difficult to buy such chickens of great quality at the markets in Horizon City. Good ingredients were a cook's favorite.
Dinner was already prepared, and Valerie took the chicken to the kitchen, saying she would clean it and start stewing it so Madison could have some soup in the evening.
Valerie now fed Madison four meals a day, and the evening snack was essential. It wasn't much, just a small bowl of soup or broth, but Madison had gotten used to it and would start feeling hungry at the usual time.
Madison and Matthew knew from Stories that the two had gone to get their marriage certificate that morning. At the dinner table, everyone raised their glasses to congratulate them.
William took out the dowry he had prepared and handed it to Willow and Mitchell. He warmly said, "Willow, please accept it."
Willow took it and opened it, her eyes widening instantly. William had divided the shares of JK Group that Matthew had given him.
When Matthew and Madison got married, he gave Madison half, and now he was giving the remaining half to Willow.
Given JK's current market value, it was truly priceless. William was fair, giving half to each of them.
Willow closed the share transfer document, looked up at William, and hesitated. She began to speak, "This..."
Before she could finish, William interrupted her, pretending to be stern. He with a tone of seriousness,"Sign it and accept it. I know Mitchell doesn't lack money, but this is my gift to you."
Willow was so touched that she didn't know what to say, her eyes welling up with tears. She mumbled, "But... this is too valuable, I... can't accept it..."
She felt that these shares should belong to Matthew, and giving half to her didn't seem right.
Matthew, who had been watching Madison eat, spoke up, "Willow, since Grandpa is giving it to you, just accept it. It's not that much."
He had transferred 10% of his shares to William, and now giving 5% to Willow wasn't a big deal. Besides, even though Willow married Mitchell, who didn't lack assets, a girl should still have some security. This dowry was the family's way of giving her that security.
Willow took a deep breath and smiled at William. She appreciatively said, "Thank you, Grandpa."
Matthew glanced at Madison, who immediately understood.
After William's gesture, it was time for them to present their wedding gift.
Madison took out a booklet from under the table and handed it to Willow with a smile. She warmly remarked, "This is a little something from your brother and me. We didn't know what to give you, so your brother suggested a house. I went with him to pick it out. The community is nice, and the house is already furnished. You can check it out when you have time."
Willow dumbfoundedly accepted the property certificate from Madison, then turned to look at Mitchell, who was smiling at her.
She then looked at everyone else; by getting married, she seemed to have instantly become wealthy. Having accepted William's shares, she didn't refuse the house and sincerely said, "Thank you, Matthew . Thank you, Madison."
At this moment, Quentin and Hannah came running over from the table.
Hannah handed Willow and Mitchell a drawing she had made. She excitedly said, "Auntie Willow, Uncle Mitchell, this is a gift from Hannah."
Quentin handed over a Lego model of a couple he had made, saying, "Auntie Willow, Uncle Mitchell, congratulations on your wedding."
The two little ones had immediately changed how they addressed Mitchell, as Liam had told them that after the wedding, Mitchell would be their uncle.
Mitchell was overjoyed to hear them call him ‘Uncle.’
